Arsenal Thread

See this is why i cannot stand Wenger, he's such a short sighted old fool.

Does he rememebr that? Should he serve the duriation of the injury? Should Campo have took legal action? fat chance.

I could argue that you are guilty of hypocrisy. The 2 incidents are worlds apart.

Diaby on Campo was a mistimed tackle in which Diaby was guilty of going for a 50-50 ball and getting there a fraction late. Campo was unfortunatley out for 6 weeks with a broken foot. Score at the time 0-0.

Brown on Diaby - Brown came off the bench and was flying into challenges recklessly before finally catching Diaby with his studs very late with no intention of going for the ball, which incidently was nowhere to be seen. Diaby has a broken and dislocated ankle with ruptured ankle ligaments. He will be out for an estimated 9 months. Score at the time, we were 3-0 up in injury time.

There is no comparison to be made between the two.

I disagree completely, who defines a late tackle then? Do we do a frame-by-frame analysis, measure the milli-seconds since the ball has left, then factor this into the lawsuit value? If the foot is a certain number of mm above the ground, does this change things? If the difference in the score is >2 does this multiply the penalty by 1.343?

I'm not condoning the tackle by any means, it was a terrible tackle, and should have seen straight red. However, wengers whole punishment/lawsuit crap is just ridiculous, and is so, well, Wenger-ish.

I think lawsuits is a bit silly really, but how Smith is going to escape any punishment is a joke.

It's just this kind of thing that makes people resent the FA. How can you employ a video analysis team who ban Jose Reina for touching Robben's face and then not pick up on this, when Diaby will miss 9 months of his career and may not return the same player?

Hard to swallow.

Guys...just 2 days until Highbury's closed for Premiership fixtures.

Arsenal - Wigan will be the last Premiership game played there and I hope I can see the game via internet.

Any special procedure planed for after the game?

Read in the paper today that there will be 90 minute ceremony after the game featuring past players. Also a guy from 'the who' was approached to perform apparently.

It was Roger Daltrey, he's a gooner apparently.

Good result last night and it showed what we can do when we bring the big boys on.

I'm glad Reyes scored cause he's such a confidence player, a couple more against Wigan would be nice cause he will be flying in Paris then.

My big complaint is that donkey Alex Song, why the hell is he playing!!!! He never passes the ball further than 6 yds and never leaves the bloody centre circle. Why is Larsson not playing if we're blooding the kids, he is a far better player.

Also it was funny to see Mad Jens back again yesterday, he really is one of those players that you can only love if he's on your team!

Slovenia doesn`t have live feed thru satalite

Our houese doesn't have digital satelite, so no. And our area doesn't have cable. If we had it I would probably see it via cable.

Fuck the elders that didn't want cable.

Its an end of an era then on Sunday when we say goodbye to possibly one of the last remaining old school stadiums in England.

Highbury will be missed. The art deco stands, the marble halls. It oozes class. The "ends" are familiar with fans everywhere. North Bank, Clock End. Its got style, history and will be sadly missed.

Of course there are many other huge grounds in England that are old but none have the history, the aura that Highbury does. I am very sad at its passing.

Lets hope that Sunday brings one more win for the old place and one more celebration with the news that Spurs have fucked up again.

Highbury 1913-2006  :applause:

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Haven't got a ticket but I'll probably be in the Bank of Friendship on Sunday. Failing that the Gunners I suppose, yuck. :D

TOTTENHAMS CHEF'S A GOONER!!

Let's hope we go out with a bang and relieve a bit of pressure by getting 4th. It feels so weird knowing it will all be over in a couple of hours...Highbury closed

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

From what I've read Arsenal doesn't have to qualify now. Is that correct or did the Slovenian medias kick in the dark?

We have to qualify because 4th is not an automatic spot, But if we win the CL then I dont think we would have to qualify.

What a great day!!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

I know that 4th is not auto qualifying. But the medias here wrote that Arsenal is in the CL allready. That confused me a bit.

Wait a minute. So if you win the CL, do we have to qualify instead of you?

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Highbury RIP

Yeah thats what i heard the commentator say today. ONly two teams qualify automatically and if arsenal win the CL, the new rules say they automatically qualify along with the domestic champions altough im sure theyre just making these new rules as they go along, cuz this is the first time i heard it been mentioned. Im getting my Barca kit prepared cuz it will be bitter pill if we have to go through qualifying stages again.
