Arsenal Thread

Bayern reached the final in 2010 and 2012. I think it would take a lot from us to be able to beat them.
What a game it promises to be though!

Yeah at the moment I don't think our chances of progressing are great. But you never know, if we can get some confidence back and a good winning streak going before we play them, then anything is possible. But they will be quite strong favorites.

Bayern is the sort of team Arsenal should become: technical but also very pragmatical.
I'm looking forward to both matches but to be honest i the odds that Arsenal will qualify are very slim...Bayern are favourites: 85/15 i would say...

Bayern are probably 2nd or 3rd favorites with Dortmund IMO, not the best tie but hopefully Arsenal can produce something special.

Yeah it'll be very difficult for Arsenal to progress through to next round now but stranger things have happened...

Here we go, the next step to seeing if this team has anything about it. Wigan away is tough and we need to get a result. This is a much sterner test than reading obviously and being an away game makes it much more difficult.

Hopefully we see the movement and passing etc that we saw against Reading, but I definitely am not expecting Wigan to be as open as Reading, so we need to take our chances when they come.

Be interesting if Walcott starts in the centre again and if so, how well he does.

COME ON GOONERS!

We are 3rd!! ;))

Far from convincing and a pen, but a win is a win and I am grateful for that.

The good things from it were a better defensive display and well played Szcz and The Ox.

Lets hope we can keep the winning going.

Kinda crazy to think about that isn't it? In some ways this has been a highly entertaining season thus far. Didn't watch the game but was it an actual legitimate penalty for the gunners this time?

It was soft but i think it was a penalty, on other hand, arsenal should have conceded two penalties but you either get the game going for or against and today was for them

also what was the ref doing with whole di santo? would be surprised if he refs again in the prem, terrible

It was arguably a penalty, but Wigan would never have got it.
What happened with Di Santo was bizar, never seen anything like it. Imagine this being Rooney, Terry, Lampard: would never happen, never...

Well a couple of weeks ago i said Arsenal can't win ugly, they just did. Wigan deserved a draw...but all credit to Arsenal.

It was a definite pen, it was silly by the Wigan player, he clipped Walcotts feet from behind while he was in on goal? I don't think it was soft at all.

I missed the Pens Wigan could have got?

The Ref was just crap in a lot of ways we both got shafted by the ref, lots of fouls Wigan kept getting away with, a yellow given to Wilshere that was never a Yellow and a wall that was no where near 10yards away.

Di Santos was said to have had an earing and was told to go off and remove it? if it is true then I see no problem, you can't bring a player back on until the ball has gone out of play and the Wigan players also had control of the ball while Di Santos was off and didn't seem to play it out to get him back on? so they couldn't have thought it was that bad?

It could have been a draw, but I think we just deserved the win imo.

If we can defeat West Ham and finish the half at 3rd place (or 4th assuming Chelsea will get at least 4 points from their 3 games) then these wins can be meaningful.

Once again, all the crisis headlines, sensational stories about Wenger and the club's future. But come January, Arsenal are once again in the Top 4 and one of the only 2 English club remaining in the CL.

I still think we need 3-4 additions to the squad. Hopefully, Wenger will make a couple of those in the winter. We need the extra boost going into the Bayern tie.

For example, David Villa would be nice :)

Beausejour had a very bad day. He didn`t need to go all in like that on Theo.Figueroa was in a good position to stop Theo. I think Jean`s moral was very down at that point and he looked to push Theo on the back.

Anyways ,3pts and climbing...such shame we won`t play on boxing day.:))

The match was on TV here in Brazil as well and I missed it in the most idiotic way: instead of counting 2 hours less I thought it would be 2 hours more than UK time

Anyway, I'm happy with the result and that the team is learning to grind out results like that again.

Will be on the lookout for the West Ham match aiming to finish the year on a high.

When does the transfer window open, is it Jan 1st already?
Wenger needs to buy some more firepower ASAP. He refuses to use Arshavin, Chamakh is out of favour too, Gervinho is both in terrible form and unavailable because of the African cup, and Walcott could go at any given time.
That would leave us with Giroud, Podolski and AOC!

I hope Wenger acknowledges that, appreciates how serious the situation is, realises that Ramsey isn't meant to be played in the wings, and spends some actual money on proven strikers.

Oh, and we can't keep counting on Diaby and Rosicky so I want one or two new midfielders too. Is it too much to ask?
These are my Xmas wishes, Dear Santa.
:D

Hehe.I bet you have met my dad there If you have visited the hsopital at some point in the last 15+ years :)

Yea its a great place.I was working in the medical records department and it allowed me to basically walk and explore most places in that hospital.was great fun.first time I met a Chelsea fan as well as a guy i use to work with.

Some sad times as well as when the bombing happened in London buses and tubes, place was jam packed and many of my co workers couldn't get to work but good thing no one I knew got hurt

Yep that was a bad time, I nearly got on the bus that blew up and I saw it explode in the distance! It was horrible to say the least.

I used to work in the psychiatric wards right near Whittington, now that was fun with all of the paranoid schizophrenics :DD

What bit, me nearly getting blown up on a bus or working in a psycho Ward?!

The former wasn't funny at all, the latter made me laugh everyday, there were some characters there.

If you are laughing at me nearly getting blown up, you have issues ;)) :PP
