Arsenal Thread

They should have run over City, but poor finishing today cost them an easy 3 point haul. If there was just a bit more precision from Gervinho it would be completely different story now

draws at home are tough ,but a draw away..is never bad!

Well deserved, although City should have had a penalty for the foul Koscielny comitted on Aguero. But this was a very good performance.
Was Vermaelen injured?

Excellent result, although it could have been better. City looked dangerous as they're expected to, but our defence could cope with most their attacks. This team looks much more solid now. Mertesacker intercepted countless attempted through balls! And Koscielny had a fantastic display, not to mention he grabbed our equaliser. It's amazing how he fit back into the team, as if he has been playing for weeks. One could forget how he just came back from injury.

Vermaelen is ill, nobody said exactly what it is during transmission. Arseblog says he's hit by a flu.

Gervinho looked like his old self again. That first half chance was pathetic how he flunked on his first touch. With a chance like that, at this level, you have to at least make Joe Hart work. And in the second half he kicked a field goal into the stands when he really should have passed it to Giroud.

But this team is looking good indeed. The midfield is strong as I didn't imagine it could be. And Wilshere is due back, so things will be interesting!

Yeah, your looking a lot more 'complete' as a team. If only if RVP was their to turn these draws into wins you might just challenge :P

I think City are favourite imo. I can see more injuries heading for mutd. They're becoming the cripple side. The longer they stay in cups the more chances of injuries.

Yup. United are screwed. Even yesterday Evans, Rio and Rafael all picked up knocks. No defence.

On an Arsenal front, good stuff coming out of Walcott with regards to staying.

If it wasn't about money he would have signed ages ago. If Arsenal meant that much to him he would have signed ages ago.

So let him put his signature where his mouth is.....or something like that.

Interesting stuff...
The books will say the Gunners had well over £100m in the bank at the year end of May 31, 2012. But that will include most of their season ticket revenue for 2012-13, a big chunk of which will go to cover current operating costs.

Financially savvy Gooners will look also at the net debt and expect to calculate Wenger has £50m or more stashed away – excluding the expected £25m windfall from the Queensland Road development.

That might explain a surge in greed from agents to players...its a lot of revenue coming in. Think about it Nasri,Song,RVP and Theo wanting better wages. I heard RVP was thinking about staying, but those words of his were too damaging. I know City, Chelsea,MUTD and even Liverpool pays higher wages then us.

Theo is seeing the camp happier than ever! He must of been slightly influence by the going party. The players celebration at the weekend is massive 'love' statement. Jack is back Alex is doing good, Theo must know they`re the future of club n country. Now, he says he wants to be a ST. I believe Gervinho was a ST at the weekend . So maybe Wenger is doing a SAF (GK).

Godotelli said:
Not the way we're playing at the moment we're not!
Your club hasn`t hit the ground yet! Once, you lots get that 10 game winning streak it`s all over. The taste of blood is coming mate  and Aguero is guilty of being too honest.

I always liked Walcott, but now i'm not sure. Things like that don't sound sincere to me...i hear his agent talking.

From what i've seen until now Chelsea and Arsenal are the favourites. Both Manc teams and Everton are outsiders. Of course this is how it seems now. We all know that in the long run Man Utd will get stronger and Everton weaker (and i hope this will not be the case).

IMO Man United were abysmal against Liverpool. Liverpool lost that game, but they were clearly the better team throughout the match. I'm not convinced by United, but when were United convincing since the departure of Ronaldo? Never... Yet in the end they win... Football is a sport between two teams of 11 players, it is played with a ball and in the end Manchester United wins (just like Germany once did).

Arsenal only need that special player who can break matches... like Henry in the past, maybe wilshere... but his position is different, we need someone like Reus, Schurrle, or imagine falcao?

Theo will be leaving. Hopefully in January, when the club can still recoup some of the money spent on him.
I'd be very surprised if he got his wish granted and played centre forward. Giroud was bought to play there and he is not getting full 90 minutes himself, let alone Walcott.
Also, the fact that we have Podolski, Gervinho, Giroud, Ox-Chambo and even Ramsey, who has been played improvised as a right winger, doesn't bode well for Walcott. It's not looking good for him at all.
I might be wrong, but this central striker talk is a smoke screen for someone who's looking for more £££m. Anyway, until then I think he will be sidelined with Arshavin, Chamakh, et al.

I hope he goes. He won't be missed and he can see that already. The team is doing really well without him. Wenger is only keeping a certain diplomacy because, until he leaves, we might need him.

If Arsenal really has this kind of money in the war chest, then what can I say? It's a shame we go into a season with Sczcesney, Mannone and Fabianski as our only choices for GK. Especially when you can get a really good keeper for around £8m.
This team is looking very good, but it's a long season ahead. It's unlikely that we have enough in our tank to go all the way. I think we could be destined to once again come agonizingly close to winning the title. And that eternal talk could arise again: Arsenal are 2-3 signings away from the title. Arrrgh :P

What team will guarantee Walcott a central striker role? Only 'smaller teams' will do that. We will see if he is telling the truth when he goes to a new club and we see where he plays. If it is that important to him I expect to see him at a mid table club..... Which obviously will not pay him what he wants either.

He has sort of given an ultimatum to the club as well more or less demanding to play central or else, We know Wenger will hate that and that is why he is frozen out of a starting place.

He will be gone unless he finds his options limited and realizes it is probably best for him to stay. But he is on the way to burning his bridges at the moment.

I'm not a fan of players voicing their position preference to the media - it just looks like an attempt to get what they want. Managers are there for a reason.

TBH I've always seen Walcott as a very whiney player. Can imagine him being like that in person too.

Walcott can fuck right off. get rid of players who moan and are cunts to the team. we are better off without cunts who moan and shit. we need players fully commited to the cause and will give there all wherever wenger plays them

walcott is just pace and nothing else he has no intelligence, no football brain

get rid I say Arsenal..

I disagree with this, it's something that people said as soon as Alan Hanson (or one of those pundits)
said it. He has everything to be very successful in my opinion, but mentally he isn't there and I'm not sure he will ever be.

If he can sort out his consistency then he would be a great player. He still is a good player for us and I would want him to stay if things were different.

Walcotts biggest problem from my point of view is that he could never decide whether he wanted to be a Striker or a Winger and so became a joke because his mentality sucked, neither set of skills managed to get his full attention in refinement and so he became an 'alright' player at both but not a great player at either.

Completely agree with Bobby. He disappoints because the expectations were sky high...he' a very, very good player.

No. his dissappointments is because he is a shit player.

Sorry but Arsenal are trying to compete for trophies again and to compete with the very best, u need world class players/great players and Walcott is far from it.

Walcott is not a good player. if he was, he could walk and play for many top sides not just arsenal but no he cant because his just average and simply not good enoough.

he would be a good player for stoke, villa etc but he is not a good player for a top team. He is probably not even good enough for spurs as well

Talking about players speaking out. The truth is never known at the beginning but give it a few weeks they`ll leak out the truth.

"I am hungry," he said. "I have never won anything. I have come here to play a lot of games and win everything."

Once he was made aware of Barcelona's interest last summer, he said he had immediately decided to go there. "In July, Barca spoke with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger came to tell me about it," he explained.

"It was difficult to convince him and also to say goodbye, as he helped me and my family a lot when I arrived at Arsenal aged 17. But when you love Barca, you cannot say no. A train like this only passes once in a lifetime and you must catch it."

So this talk about wanting to stay at Arsenal was never been true. My point is Theo`s thoughts now are just words. The truth will come sooner or later! I believe Song try to leave by being a prick ,his way of convincing Wenger .

Exactly goes against what he said when he left, that he didn't want to leave blah blah blah. These players stir up so much shit just because they don't want the fans to hate them. But he basically lied about what happened when he went to Barca and made Wenger and the club look like it was their fault. That is a great way for him to treat the manager as he has just said helped him greatly when he first came to Arsenal.

Players really piss me off sometimes.
