Arsenal Thread

Boom Podolski! :DD

We can't afford for Giroud to be another Chamakh, I'm sure he will still get plenty of game time, I expect to see him today at some point.

Looks like Arsenal listened to me :DD

Gervinho looking good, Podolski, Cazorla as usual, Gibbs.

Dissapointed at the goal against, sloppy by Szcz :((

Hopefully we can bring on Giroud and he gets a goal.

Giroud needs minutes the difference btw Chamakh is his strength , he is very weak and Giroud is like Davies from Bolton a ball winner. ...Just not a scorer :COAT:

Cazorla doesn`t have a 1st touch its more of a reflex ...He has the whole team playing like him or attempting too. The ball seem to hit him ,rather then touching it. I think he made the Arsenal play exciting again...* I can breathe again!!! best assist Arteta->Gervinho sweet!

Diaby not on ,but he is not missed ...get well though. FFS what a cheap goal to lose our clean sheet :RANT::RANT:

Great result, just what we needed.

Lots of shouts for really good performances, Gervinho, Podolski, Cazorla, Gibbs the list goes on.

I am really liking Jenkinson, if he can be a bit more composed on the ball sometimes he is looking really good, he gets forward well, his passing is improving every game and his defending well as well.

Shame about the goal against, would have been great to keep the clean sheets going, but you can't have everything I guess.

This is what we should be doing to teams (Not scoring 6 obviously) in the lower parts of the league if we are serious about competing for the league. Big tests against Man City and Chelsea coming up in the League, but we have every right to be positive going into them (hopefully we get a good result mid week as well).

Some nice passing as well with Cazorla being instrumental for us.

Great Result!

This is the goals I graved, for the most!!! I can breathe again :BOP:

I like Szczesny and think he will come good.

he has that "crazy gk" thing about him which many keepers have, its weird its like they are their own kind :D

Young goalkeepers tend to be prone to silly mistakes. Even Courtois, who was probably the best young keeper around last season, had a couple of brainfarts.

Hey buddies, excellent performance from the Gunners! I was there at the stadium! :)

I was impressed with our passing this time around. I don't know how good Southampton really are, they did play well against City and United, but their defense seemed easy to rip apart.

Still, Cazorla definitely takes a hold of the game and has the team playing to his style. What an exciting player to have! Big contender for signing of the season.
Ox-Chambo said Cazorla makes the whole team better, and makes the other players play a bit like him too. I kind of agree with that.

We have to highlight also what Arteta is doing at DM. He has such discipline and when he has the ball, his distribution is excellent. Plus, he keeps us ticking.

Loved what I saw from our Germans. Podolski seems ready to have a pop at goal at any time, I missed that. A constant threat, because he is such an accomplished finisher. Southampton keeper had to deal with a rocket, before being beaten by that stunning free kick.
And Merte, what can I say? He is a calming presence, and he absolutely shuts mouths of half-witted pundits who kept insisting he was a liability because he's "too slow" for the Prem. He is one of the most intelligent defenders out there, he totally makes up for his lack with mobility with clever positioning, plus he has good decision making on the ball.

The youngsters, Ox is exciting to watch and a breath of fresh air even against tight defenses, something Walcott struggles against.
And Jenkinson, what a right back this kid is turning into! His developing is astonishing, in my opinion so far in these 4 matches he has been playing like Sagna some 3 years ago. He will improve on the ball, but his defending is already very solid. I saw stats from 7am kickoff showing he was the player who received most passes in that match. He didn't do anything wrong.
This guy is one for the future. Total gem!

SCZC - let's not be too quick to judge him, because he's just back now. But that drop had nothing to do with rib injury and it hurts to see our clean sheet record gone because of that fumble.

Coq - He didn't have a bad one, he has a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but he needs to sort his attitude. Le Coq is getting a bit too cocky, don't you guys think? First there was that talk on the press, where he was demanding game time this season. And at the match I was pissed off when he attempted something arrogant near the byline, instead of going for the easy option. The guy is being groomed as an industrial central midfielder and suddenly he's trying Neymar-like skills just because we're 4-0 up. He should be more serious and show some respect to the opponent. We don't wanna see him turning into one of those clowns.

Now, finally: Gervinho! Or Yao Kouassi, if you play FIFA 12. This guy blew me away! I've been one of his critics, saying I don't expect much from him, but Saturday was his day. He's just had his best performance ever in an Arsenal shirt, didn't he?
I was gutted when he was subbed because the boy deserved the hattrick - and he would probably get it. But, wow!
I took a Brazilian friend to the game, and Brazilians do appreciate tricky wingers bamboozling defenders with feint skills. It's a tradition I guess, started by Garrincha. Well, Gervinho was our favourite player of the day! :D

I'm happy for Gervinho because it's impossible to dislike him, he seems such a nice guy.
Let's hope our little Ivorian fella has a season as big as his forehead!

Nice post:)) I agree with everything!

Cheers Bobby, how are you doing? I suppose you found a way to follow the Arsenal from Israel? Do they show it on TV?

A thing or two I forgot:
The Vermesacker unit is airtight right now. I have time for the big Merte and Vermaelen has also been one of my favourites since he joined. And let me add that Vermaelen's biggest flaw was bombing forward all the time, leaving us exposed too often. But now he is the captain, and he seemed to have absorbed a lot of responsibility. Of course Bould will also have "bouldened" him up by now. So we have a hell of a CB pairing. And where does that leave Koscielny? He was in the first XI before his injury and now that he's recovered would be unfair to dismantle the Vermesacker partnership. It's really hard on Koscielny, who has also grown to be one of my favourite players, but that's how it goes. I guess Wenger will be able to bring him gradually back to the team by rotation, now that CL is about to start.

Sczcesny definitely has the "crazy mofo" player card. You don't see nowadays many of those folkloric keepers such as Higuita, Grobbelaar, Kahn, etc.

Giroud could turn into a new Chamakh - that worries me. Now of course he will get more games than Chamakh used to when we had RvP, so it will be very much up to him. What worries me is that tension builds up when you're not scoring. A centre forward lives off goals.
If he's patient enough, he will find the net and will build up from there. Look at Gervinho, who scored with Ivory Coast, he returned with a boost in confidence. That finish for his 1st goal was one from a player with much more confidence.

If Giroud has mental strength, he will find the net and start doing well. And I think he will get 90 minutes against his former team Montpellier tomorrow.

I have the same questions about both Arsenal and Spurs after their last match.
Both looked very good (arguably Arsenal looked better, but we're used to that), but one can ask the question if they looked that well because they were really good or because both Saints and Royals were really weak opponents...

I was very pessimistic about Spurs, but now i'm convinced that with time AVB can make a good team out of that bunch of players. I especially like the 3 central midfielders who were very important sunday (Sandro, Dembele and Sigurdsson), and this despite the fact that they played their first match together.

But this is an Arsenal thread. I have a feeling that Arsenal can have a cracker of a season. If they can hold things tight at the back (buy a good GK, Arsene, you haven't one at the moment), then i see them as title contenders... With players like Arteta, Cazorla, Rosicky (like he played since the Spurs match last season) and Wilshere. You guys have a fantastic midfield...

Atm Gervinho on the RW .Although I think rotating is key to keep the flow. How strong is that German Pold ?Theo is not a good passer Giroud was open and alone, Theo hesitated to pass to him.Jack is back to full training we need to play a strong side in every match...capital one too included.

City aren't banging goals and the worst gk on saves to ratio is Hart n Reina shocker!!! Slow start innit.I think szc blunder was the ball was caught ,but came down on Jenkin's head to Fox's boot.

.

I'm good, you can see it on paid satellite tv for about £15 a month and can see most important prem games and others around the world. When I get a bit more money coming in I will get it, but for Now I have found a good streaming site to watch the games on :))

Nice to hear you went to the game, I miss going to games :((.....but I got to go to a beautiful beach today 10mins away from where I live in the lovely sunshine...so I don't miss it too much :))

Ah, the beach does make it up for it on weekends :)

Sounds really good and fair price this cable TV thing, for £15!

Here in the UK, same old shit: Murdoch squeezes us for £70 a month for Sky Sports HD, only to show some 3 live games per weekend, many of them not being Arsenal.
We will have some huge matches against the likes of City, Chelsea and United until December, so Arsenal will receive fairly good coverage on TV till then. But on December my contract with Sky completes 1 year and I'm gonna cancel it for sure. Too much money for someone who doesn't have time to watch TV, and when I do, I'm not happy with the number of Arsenal matches they broadcast.
Sky buys the exclusivity of the Prem, effectively cancelling out other channels who would show what they're not showing, and to add insult to injury, they keep banning the online streaming channels that do.

When I was in Brazil I watched Arsenal live on TV every weekend. Pretty ironic, isn't it? There, the EPL license is now shared between 2 channels which show 8 matches between themselves every week - and that means pretty much guaranteed Arsenal coverage every weekend.

So, yeah, since I'm in London now, I might as well go to matches that aren't shown on TV, if I can get my hands on face value tickets.

This weekend I got lucky with a goal fest! Hopefully, there will be more to come ;)

I couldn't believe how Southampton played against Arsenal after seeing them before the international break against United. It was like two different teams! Against United (and City) they pressed really hard in midfield, and ran themselves into the ground.

Against Arsenal they stood off and gave space. It was such a weird (and stupid) strategy.

Still, 6 goals are nice :)

I think they invited the attacks n thought...we'll catch them on the counter. They were better in a 4-4-2 system on the 2nd half. We were in the final third most of the match in the 1st half. Its so weird seeing Cazorla commanding the pressuring like the Spanish NT does. You can see him ordering players to pressure n where to make passes. The tracking back makes the difference not every player can do it. Pod,Cazorla ,Gervinho n Ox have done a top job. Theo needs more concentration after tracking back . He gets out of position n tries to get on top lol (ST)

So, no Wenger in the dugout for us tonight at Montpellier. We should see Bouldy in action instead. Good luck to him!

This ban thing is ridiculous - this is still because of that bastard ref who went squealing 'don't touch me, don't touch me' after the AC Milan tie.

Wenger had another ban extended before, for communicating with the bench (despite UEFA telling he could have done it). Tonight all eyes will be on him on the stands. Maybe UEFA will add 1 more game to his ban for not contacting his assistant... who knows what them unpredictable mugs at UEFA are capable of?

By the way, did anyone watch Everton vs Newcastle yesterday? Did you see Pardew contacting his assistant on the mobile? Was he supposed to? Does the FA carry out the same stupid restrictions or is it just UEFA who are too bloody unreasonable?

That was difficult, Second half we really rode our luck. Montpellier were the better team overall and deserved more from the game.

We got the 3points in the end, but hopefully we pull ourselves together for the Man City game at the weekend.

Their corners were free ball backs, terrible corner kick tactics! Giroud was shocking lol , credit to them they were more in control just couldn`t finish. That pen look very very dodgy so early in the match...Who gave it the ref behind the goal didn`t? nor the side line ? Well, 3pts!

If our defence can play well today we have every chance of getting a positive result today.

A draw would be a good result, but we can win this! :DD
