Arsenal Thread

crazy how a couple months ago everybody was saying how shit was that Diaby. Now people shout that we will do good if he stay healty ahah =p

For me personaly I just hope our new number 10 finaly recover! jesus that kid is 19 years old and nearly took him 2 year to recover from an ankle injury wtf!?

wishful thinking ,but I wont say nothing until after we play 10 games! One thing for sure the squad has no kids and mainly experience players.

Well, I'm 18 and I had an ankle injury a year and a half ago. And believe me that's just a place you never want to get hurt. It's somehow permanent that injury, you feel a slight pain almost every single game you play and I can just imagine what Jack must go through with this intense training at the highest level. Just hope he recovers as fast as he can and as good as he can, because he's got it all to be a future star.

Freakin' ankle being so fragile does my head in...

yup and it only gets worse the older you get.

I usually do damage to one or the other ankle every year somehow.

I sprained it rock climbing a few months back and then subsequently damaged it a few more times either climbing or playing football.

It's probably never gonna go back down to the size of the other one and still gives me pain after a match.

As spektarm said, can't imagine what the intensive training and match playing that a professional footballer encounters would do to it. Ankles need serious rest straight away and if you don't get it then it buggers them up for good.

It really gets in the way for ordinary people like us if we pick up an ankle injury. For a football player at professional level, it must be really depressing.
The other day I saw one picture of Wilshere on the training ground with Podolski and he looked like a broken man. His face looked like he had grown almost 10 years older. I really pity the lad and can only wish him best of luck and to be back at his best soon.

Van Persie had one major problem with his ankle and once he went to Serbia to get it bathed with the mystical hippopotamus placenta suspended in cryogenics type of treatment... Let's hope Wilshere doesn't have to undergo such treatment, since one of its side effects seems to turn the subject into a colossal cunt :P

Yep probably that the major reason why hes not on the pitch... Im pretty sure if he was 25 or 27 he would already be on the pitch...but since hes our new number 10 and Arsenal and England future and have a solid 15 year of football ahead of him...The medical staff wanna make sure that ankle get fully healed.

Now we have Coq opening his mouth when he really shouldn't. What is the point in saying he will asses what is happening in 6months and then might leave?!

He just signed a new contract and has been assured by Wenger he is in his plans. Saying stuff like this has no positive effect, like he is trying to threaten the club if he doesn't play he will be off.

He played games last season and will be played this season, why say this stuff now?!

Really, when players sign for Arsenal do they get hit over the head really hard or something?

Pisses me off :DD

Ohh piss off Coq, we got more important things to worry about!
I think keeping the midfield trio Arteta-Diaby-Cazorla is key for a good season. If this lad thinks he will walk into this team just because we sold Alex Song, then he will find many other surprises in life.

There's still Ramsey and then we will have Jack coming back, so it's not as if he's next in the pecking order. If Le Coq decides to become troublesome now, he should save us time and cock off somewhere else.

That interview was such a "coq up" indeed. No need at all for this.
Once again, you have to feel for Arsene Wenger. How many more times will this man be slapped in the face and stabbed in the back?

When Arsene leaves and you get a twat like Steve Mclaren instead. the players, the board and the mass of 'fans' who criticised will be begging at his feet for him to come back, and he will turn around walk away to another club where you will see what you've lost.. And the rest of the premier league will be laughing as you lose a vital amount of knowledge and know how and finally the last bit of your collapse goes. At the end of the day, the one constant of arsenals (you can't argue) over achievements when the stars leave is Wengers know how in replacing them quickly and if not buying a player in raising a youngster to fill the boots.

Also Rentboy, I applaud your use of Coquelins name;)

Gervinho Scored as well! Hopefully with the result just before the international break and players playing well and building up their confidence during the break we will be in a good position to get through this tough next month

I don't have any high hopes for Gervinho either, but I'd love to be proved wrong by Wenger's insistence.

I think he will do well eventually, maybe he just needs to shave his head or something, his Barnet really is odd with that huge spam.

Shave? Mmm no, better leave it as it is. I think the world is not ready for that forehead :P

It looks ridiculous as it is, if he shaved it, it would just be a head and wouldn't emphasis his forehead. It would be a huge head though, maybe he could make some more money by putting some advertising on it, like a big Nike Swoosh or something?

Haha I was thinking if he shaves and hair starts growing back again, that forehead would look even bigger than it is now. At least he covers a bit of it with his curtain locks hairdo.

That forehead would be definitely billboard-like.

After Wenger saying how much he likes Djourou and his thoughts on him, it is crazy the amount of crap that is being said about him.

He is our 4th choice centre back and to have a playing like him as 4th choice is great. A couple of seasons ago he was playing great, he had a bad time last season and everybody has written him off completely saying how rubbish he is and how we should get rid of him etc etc

Last season he was played out of position as well from what I can remember in his worst showing.

Just annoys me how people have such short memories and really don't think about things.

I still think he can turn out to be a a really good defender, if given the chance (which he will probably only get in early cup games if all of the others are fit).

I believe in Gervinho, more than Walcott anyway.

I hope most people still remember Djourou's 2011 season. He was great with Koscielny in the center.

Oh Lord!

As for Djourou, it is definitely a blessing that we have him as 4th choice willing to accept this role.
He is somewhere in between, IMO. He's better than 4th choice material, but not good enough to be starting for Arsenal. That said, he certainly makes our squad stronger in depth.
I can't remember when was the last time we had 4 CB as good as what we have now: Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker and Djourou. And we also have Ignasi Miquel, who looks promising.

I'm hoping for us to play really well today, Southampton are showing they can be dangerous, but really I want a show of intent from the team. We should be dominating and scoring, hopefully Giroud gets off the mark.

Glad club football is back :D

We're all glad! :D

Poor Southampton have been very unlucky to be beaten by Man City and Man Utd. Played very well in both games and should've at LEAST had a point from each!

It won't be easy but Arsenal should show some intent as you say and take the points.

Southampton have a very tough list of fixture to begin the season. I haven't seem them yet, but i've heard positive thing about them.
Nevertheless, this is a match Arsenal should win rather easy.

1440:
Arsenal v Southampton (15:00 BST)

Arsene Wenger makes three changes from the side which beat Liverpool a fortnight ago. Wojciech Szczęsny :)) is back in goal after a rib injury, Francis Coquelin:COAT: starts in midfield as Abou Diaby:SHOCK: picked up another injury playing for France, and striker Olivier Giroud :SHOCK:is dropped for Gervinho.:ACHOO:

Hopefully Coq can prove that he deserves a place in the team, Diabys injury doesn't sound bad and seems that they are keeping him out so he can play a part in the next two games (and onwards).

Big decision on Giroud, I thought this would be a perfect game to start him and get his confidence up. Big decision by Wenger, it could really knock him. Hopefully it does the opposite and gives him a kick up the arse (Not that I think he has been playing badly and has only played 2.5 games for us!)

Anyway, just want to win and hopefully break our start of the season clean sheet record :DD.....with a few goals as well. I really hope we don't take Southampton for granted.
