Arsenal Thread

Any proof and solution how they change the qualification with one missing opponent then?
From Wiki:

If Chelsea win

Because of the restriction that no association can have more than four teams playing in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur (the fourth-placed team of the 2011–12 Premier League), which would have entered in the 2012–13 Champions League play-off round, will be moved to the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. Moreover, Braga (as the third-placed team from Portugal) and Spartak Moscow (runners-up from Russia) are promoted from the third qualifying round to the play-off round.

Happy ending, after all

So Happy, haven't seen the game, but the win is what we needed and we got it. Sounds like we need to sort out alot before next season. A couple of contracts with Van Persie and Walcott, getting rid of all of the players we don't need and more importantly getting control of our defensive unit and slapping them about until they can defend together properly.

I'm so happy, what a rollercoaster of a season and to finish above Spurs makes it even sweeter :DD

Great result from us. Gibbs is the one who won us that game. he made a last ditch tackle in liek the 85min and if it was not for that tackle, wigan would have scored to make it 3:3

Mixed seaosn it has been for us though. poor start to the season but much better 2nd half of the season.

If we can show the same desire and determination we have in the 2nd half half of the season throughout next season, we can compete for the title

In all fairness, Spurs had almost as many injury problems as Arsenal.

It's OK to gloat, but get the facts straight.

cheers! Our we keeping that signature 'visually' :))
Well, a statement is a statement. If Viperized likes to think we're better, then it's his prerogative. I'm keeping the signature!

Well for the people who hate hazard for his, the true about the "red or blue" comments, this is how he said it:

Commentator: "Yesterday it was Pink"

Hazard: "Well, the blue is the stadium (he looks at the stadium) the red is the jersey (looking at the Lille jersey) so umm, in all cases they are both beautiful."

At the momment he dont say anything about his future... its the media who manipulates all, and about the "the place is manchester"... he denied that yesterday and say that "is not true, I didn't say that but i'll go to England"

Thats are the things that make me dont trust in the media, and wait for officials confirmations, bye!

Ah jesus, what a stupid discussion.
I love both clubs (it is possible, yes) and as long as they aremore preoccupied with each other the Manchester clubs will be the laughing ones...
To be honest this preoccupation with the other is more of a nuisance for Spurs than for Arsenal. Arsenal ended up before Spurs, but IMO Spurs has been playing excellent football, after the match against Newcastle, it suddenly was all gone...next season better...

I'm bothered as well about this finishing-above-Spurs banter, it shouldn't be considered such an achievement, this is par for the course! :P

On a serious note, I sincerely hope next season we challenge for the title, and not for 3rd - as important as it was finishing 3rd on this dreadful season for us.

I read Wojcech Sczcesny echoing these words in some news somewhere.
Speaking of which, we have an issue with Goalkeepers, guys. Almunia is finished (he only sat on the bench in very few occasions), Mannone is a calamity and comedy time prone, while Fabianski fell totally out of favour with Wenger - and let's face it, he has very few qualities of a good goalkeeper. Sczcesny played carrying a shoulder injury towards the end of the season, but Wenger didn't dare taking him out of goal, and that says a lot. I too prefer him at 50% than a Fabianski.
All the other guys are leaving and another GK should be brought in to provide competition for SCZC, while maybe a 3rd keeper should be promoted from the youth team.

have u heard Wilshere's reply to Nasri?

LOL he had a go at him in other words. its all over the media. i read it in evening standard newspaper

sarcasm is such an over-rated concept.

but yeah, it's a useless debate and was brought about by a post out of no-where.

the fact is i don't think the two of us can compete with the manchester clubs. it will be surprising if one does. and to be fair arsenal has more chances because of the experience and past performances.

It's rivalry and you have different objectives throughout the year. We are not preoccupied with Spurs, but they are our rivals and we are above them again in the league.

It makes it sweet for me, because I have a Spurs supporting Uncles and Cousins that were gloating when they were doing well, saying all the usual crap that people have been saying how Spurs are better and Arsenal are rubbish...but we still finish above them?

It is a good feeling, but don't get me wrong hopefully we can concentrate on challenging for the title next year, but if we fall short again, the next thing is being in the champions league and then being above Spurs :)) It makes supporting football alot more fun :DD

I don't mind fans gloating and trading banter. Fans are aways like that. But the best thing about Arsenal finishing above them was to shut up this Spurs loving media who were talking about a shift of power in North London, blah blah blah... shift in power my ass! Their best team in years finishes behind our weakest team in the Wenger Era. That's the truth! The day when Spurs reach 13 league titles they can begin thinking about that (and that would take several years of drought at Arsenal!).

This is how Arsenal balance the books, players get tents as accommodation, wow. :P

that my friends is disturbing.

but i don't see much difference from what gervinho was doing in many of matches.

I am torn tonight, I don't want Chelsea to win, but it would be great if they did and Spurs don't have a chance of the Champions league.

I think Chelsea losing, edges it a bit for me, hope it is a good game tonight either way.

The possibility of seeing John Terry lift the European Cup should be enough to make any rational human a Bayern Munich fan for the game.

Besides, there's the chance that Spurs will get a tough tie in the qualifiers and go out anyway.
