Arsenal Thread

So RvP's wage demands are enough to make even City wince apparently.

I wish footballers would fuck off. I'd play for free.

You would maybe start playing for free, but soon enough you would change.
And about RVP: maybe these wage demands are an elegant way of snubbing City?

Good point... RVP would love to win things at Arsenal no doubt, I can`t see any trophies w/ these lot. I`m sure things broke down w/ We would buy 1 more only arrggh! Funny they offered Robin £130k guess who makes £135k :CONFUSE: in this day in age when the boss makes more than anyone is alarming . Wenger doesn`t want ready made unless it`s on the very very cheap. Wenger wants players that feel they owe him their careers.

That won`t bring in success ...

RVP will stay if Arsenal are making a statement by buying hight quality-proven player to help Van persie next season! otherwize I think he will go...at 29 he want to play for a club that wont only rely on him to succeed!

A footballers career aint that long at the highest level! at 30 ur chance to prove yourself are pretty over!

You mean like Podolski?

Podolski is a international proven player...at club level...hes pretty normal. I dont think podolski will have a big impact at this year Euro as a part of the german squad with the new talent coming from germany.

But he is a major signing. Lets hope quality keep on coming cause im not confident with players like gervinho and walcott/ox (even tought hes promising) having our winger starting spot next season.

I know this was only his first season, but I can't see enough quality in Gervinho to be at Arsenal... what was Wenger thinking there?

I don't know about that, I thought he was a good player at Lille and thought he'd be a good signing, problem is I don't think he progressed as a player at all throughout the season, but maybe he did for all I know all will be much better next term.

He's only 24 so he's still got time to adjust and improve his game.

In the season Lille became champions, Gervinho was Lille's best player (yes, better than Hazard and Cabaye). He is still young and is a big talent. Have patience.

Yes. People should always remember the "settling in" factor too. That's a very important thing. There's a life outside the 90 minute game. Things like culture, people, weather, food, language, family settling in, teammates etc all make a difference. Some take a while, some never and others settle pretty quick.

I dunno, I saw them quite alot that year and thought he was very good but clearly inferior to others in the side.

Gerd and Lami make good points.

Gervinho is a good player and has proven it over several years dating back to his Le Mans days before Lille bought him. One bad season doesn't change that. And he's still quite young and can and hopefully will develop further but he's already good enough anyway and next year having settled in more (2nd year), I think he'll do a lot better.

I think the 'What was Wenger thinking?' comment was not right, as Wenger saw a really good player, that had a high assist rate etc and hoped he could fit in at Arsenal and if could be anywhere near the form he had at Lille and of course get any better, he could do really well for Arsenal.

I personally think he started off well and faded dramatically, especially after the African Cup of Nations. We will see next season what will happen, but to write him off after one season is wrong imo.

Hopefully he gets his act together, because he does need to be much better, we need more consitancy from him and Walcott and If we get that, I think that our attack could be very good (If Van Persie Stays of course).

I`d sell Walcott anyday before hes contract expired!

The kid belong to a mid table club and I have said this for a long time!
Hes not the player that will make us win trophies! And hes not the player that should have a starting spot at a club like Arsenal

More recent news: at the training camp of our national team Hazard had a press conference about his future. He will go to one of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea.

I doubt Arsenal was ever in the list of clubs .I bet he`ll find it a lot harder than Ligue 1. Only Chelsea/ Mutd can guarantee him football each week. City is about results Toure/Silva are not guaranteed ,I think they had to deal with Mario n Tevez. So , Hazard won`t be a problem if he gets his tits in a knot. City will sussed !

If he wants first team football on a regular basis then he has to choose Man Utd or Chelsea.

Unless his demand for 200k a week wages is true, then he will have to go to City, unless Chelsea start to splash the cash again.

He said his priority is first team football.
I would have gone for Arsenal or Spurs (and since Spurs isn't playing CL football, Arsenal).
But Hazard is a very confident boy who thinks he will get a first team place, no matter where he goes.
I agree that he will fin it a lot harder than Ligue 1 and might have a difficult first year. IMO he is taking a huge gamble.

It seems as if the deal between Vertonghen, Ajax and Spurs is as good as finished, i think Vertonghen is being more intelligent (not necessarily because he goes to Spurs, but because he didn't go for an absolute top team).

I think one of the main reasons Hazard WILL succeed IS his massive confidence. The boy's got a lot of talent and rightfully knows it. :)

Same here - but going to Juve would mean turning down City, as he's a pretty loyal Gunner. Would be excited to see Juventus in the CL with RVP though.

I can't believe nothing I read specially when it said " robin was wearing a hood to hide his idenity the facts are not many ppl are looking at him. Italy for the peach of a country that it is makes sense I wish I lived there, for footy wise not sure if this is the best option atm.

Regarding Hazard, I doubt Arsenal is one of the clubs bidding for him. It's a waste of time when you know the Sheiks and Oil moguls will enter a bidding war for him.

It's only Daily Star of course, most likely 110% rubbish. But what cracked me up was this bit:

Even Manchester City were stunned by Hazard’s request for £200,000 a week.

How I'd love this to be true! A 21 year old kid demanding £200k a week? Congrats $ity! Your sheer disrespect for money coming back to bite you on your arses. Now, pay the kid!
