Arsenal Thread

If he is a good negotiator, good for him.
I'm the first to say that the wages of football players are rificulously high, bit imo it's not the football players that are to be blamed. Each and everyone of us would do exactly the same.

The clubs are to blame. And then is Arsenal a rather bad example because the cost of their team is nothing compared to (for example) the team they play this afternoon (Spurs). Arsenal are one of the few EPL clubs that are not punching above their weight financially.

It's a problem but you certainly can't blame the players. It's rather easy to publish those lists.

IMO this is becoming a serious problem worldwide.

not the most enjoyable match for a Spurs fan, but a fantastic performance from Arsenal. Despite the 0-2 lead, Spurs were never in the match. This team is proving that they still can do it. As i write this Walcott is scoring his second goal.
Other players that were written off like Sagna and Rossicky also are playing a fantastic match.

Well jonney, what now? Bad manager? Bad team? Players who are being paid to much?

Hats off to Arsenal.

Shit.

What? this only hides all the paper cracks in the game. wenger should still go. just becase we hammer you lot dont mean nothing. 7 years and counting for no trophies and this is not the last game of the season. there is still loads of games left to play and we can still miss out on top 4.

Today we showed yet again soome shit defending but our finishing today, desire, determination and flair was second to none. the problem is that you will only see arsenal play like this twice or 3 times a year. We USE to play like this week in week out. Had we played like this week in week out, we would still be in the CL tie, still be in the fa cup and probably fighting for the title.

There has been FAR too many gutless shitty perforamce by arsenal this season. So to answer your questions yes wenger is a bad manager. if we can play like this week in week out for a whole season, Then wenger should stay.

At the end of the day i want my club to play as best as they can and to "try" week in week out. Results i dont mind so long as my team TRIES. keyword "try" which i feel arsenal dont in half of the matches we have watches this season.

Anyways i wont gloat about spurs because i think you are one of the best spurs fans i have chatted to. Most spurs fans are gloating piece of shits that fucking get on my nerves so i will be slagging them off left right and centre

I think Arsenal try every week, but unfortunately (for Spurs), the match against Spurs is something special.
To be totally fair, the ref didn't exactly advantaged Arsenal...Bale dived and before that Arsenal should have had a penalty (on Gibbs). So the 2-0 lead was sheer luck for Spurs...

After a defeat fans tend to say their team played a bad match...IMO a team is as good or as bad as the opponents let them be...so all credit to Arsenal. Let's hope this will be the beginning of the end for Spurs (but maybe i should not write this in an Arsenal thread...).

God how we needed this win, with Liverpool and Newcastle next in the league both are must win games for our fight for 4th.

Our team showed great desire to come back, Rosicky, Benayoun, Sagna, Van Persie and eventually Walcott who had a shocking first half all having really good games. The team really together looked really good, fantastic result.

But the real great thing will be another couple of wins in our next two league games. But for now I am over the moon! :DD

If this result was negative it could have been a real downfall for the club, lets hope it has the opposite effect now.

Cheers to all gunners! What a joy of a match! One of the best matches I've seen this season. I was at home jumping out of the couch all the time. Thanks for this match!

Today also talks a lot about these two teams and overall it illustrates the two tendencies in football right now: one based in skill and possession and the other one based on raw power.

Tottenham has Adebayor, Bale, Walker, Parker... a lot of players that, while having good skills, are primarily powerful players. Just like Madrid. They pack the team behind quickly, use only a few players to get to the goal, primarily by direct combinations, and they feel comfortable playing the counter and using spaces to win.

On the other side, Arsenal, a team that, like Barcelona or Ajax, wants to have the ball to build and try to recover it quickly when they loose it. They spend most of the time in the opponent field and leave huge gaps behind.

Arsenal depends on skill and teamplay, but also and very specially in the OFF THE BALL play. Today, they played one of the best OFF THE BALL matches I've seen them in the last 3 years. And Song, Rosicky and Arteta were specially brilliant at this. That proves also that Rosicky, Song or Arteta, who have been extremely criticized, can shine when all the team plays the same.

The downside of it is that it's extremely difficult to play like this. If Arsenal played like this all the matches they would be higher in the table.

The downside of Tottenham is that while they have a great team, they lack a lot of ambition in the big matches. They tend to pack behind when the result is good for them, but this means giving the ball away. Their midfield is not prepared to retain the ball in those matches. They will perform very well against low and middle table teams, but they suffer when they have a big team in front of them. This combined with the undeserved lead made them play too comfortable.

I don't know if Redknapp is the man for the job, though...

great post and Ajax does play very technical on the ball like you said they `re very young looking side too ,from the Europa match vs MUTD. That explains why you enjoy Barcelona,Arsenal n Ajax then :)) same style only one is just more consistence n loads of trophies  .

Rosicky was just sick w/ the ball his movement n his goal was something I`ve never seen in him. Arteta , Song and Benayou gelled I like Benayou n Rosicky together they have calmness in their play .

Problem is we arent good enough to play and win all matches like this...eg..ac milan.

Arsenal trying to play like this versus AC Milan is quite comical tbh.

Welcome back drake. good post. Arsenal played some nice stuff today and about fucking time.

congrats, i couldn´t belive the final score, becouse last time i checked you were loosing 0:2..

i have to see the highlights of this one :D

Wow what a performance and what a great comeback! I watched this with my mate who supports United and got drunk and loud today!

Now that the beer has faded away, I thought I'd post my impressions.
Spurs started very well in the match, but nothing that would justify being 2-0 up. First goal by Saha, fair enough, lucky deflection, it happens, I don't like complaining about luck. But the "penalty" for the 2nd was a blatant dive by Bale, who is becoming himself quite a diver. And there we were being "operated" by Mike Dean again. Someone had told me that we had never won a match with him officiating before that?

Anyway, what I liked about Arsenal today is that they finally realised there's no time to be feeling sorry for themselves. Sagna scored with a great header (I'm glad he did, the guy deserves it) and RvP... CLASS!

For everything that happened lately, it seems as though guys like Walcott and Rosicky decided to wake up. Credit where it's due: great match both of them! They seemed poised to make me shut up!! I think I'm gonna keep giving them some stick, if it helps them playing like that and Arsenal winning :D

Walcott was shit in the 1st half and I do wonder what AW had to tell him at the break, because he came back not only at a slightly different position, but with a different attitude. And his finishing was excellent in both occasions!

As for Rosicky, he was fantastic during the whole 90 minutes. I'm still shocked, how the hell did that happen?
I hope he builds up from that because with so many injuries we do need people putting in a shift in midfield.

Overall I think the attitude and grit were spot on, the desire was definitely there! We just need to see this on a more consistent basis.

It's just somehow baffling how Benayoun (who played alright) was used as a starter - after having been used in the reserves team.

This gives some hope for the upcoming matches and some positive vibes for a change! We are virtually eliminated from the CL, but still Arsenal showed that if Milan gets careless (and with nothing being impossible in football) we could have a nasty surprise for them - because we just massacred the team who knocked them out last season (actually, an improved Tottenham).

Well, still 4th!

Wenger said the difference was the pitch. He said in the last 3 matches we played on an unacceptable pitches and today, We played on the finest pitch and that`s why we can play our passing game.;)

Bale has been diving for a while now . He`s becoming a player instead of respecting I`m finding him to be among those of a cheat!

Theo did something I never see him do " chip shot" his 2nd goal is more of his signature goal . Vermaelen was the weakest player again today :COAT::OH::NONO: I hope ...I don`t get :BAN: for saying so .

Yeah, Vermaelen was at fault on their first goal, totally clueless of where the back line was. I don't know what happened to him really. He had stayed 1 entire season out due to injury and didn't lose his composure when he returned. But now a couple of months as Left Back seems to have had an effect in his awareness as a CB.
I hope he gets his act together, cause we have no more Mertesacker!

As for the pitch excuse: not really! The difference is the attitude. Of course the pitch helps, but in the end what makes the difference is the grit, the desire and passion. They played today like they actually give a shit! Amazing eh?

I don't care how we did it, I'm just happy Arsenal won the derby by a great margin :)

I have to give a belated congratulations to your team. I think Arsenal showed their true colours yesterday and the Spurs of old came to town (just like old times)!

I think ultimately, Arsenal needed it more than us and more importantly, they wanted more than we did.

I haven't seen us capitulate like that since Old Trafford in April 2009. I just hope it is down to a blip and nothing more.

Boy am I glad I don't have any Gooner friends...

Its not only the diving but also the tendency to overplay ordinary fouls to "help" refs get their cards out of the pocket. He's a proper cheat no doubt about it.

Look like we agreed terms with Lucas Podolski for next season... how that turns out?

Podolski is a good player no doubt, can surely help the team... IMO

I wouldn`t believe everything being written... Agreeing w/ player is never the problem it has always been the club`s and their valuation on price. We let a player slip through our grips by a few pence ;)

Well, RVP made it through a useless friendly unscath ...he tweeted next Liverpool 12:45! He's already thinking about playing the next game. God Bless him..
