Arsenal Thread

shocking. absolutely shocking.

Now watch arsenal implode and lose fa cup on saturday followed by a loss against spurs and our enxt 3-4 League matches after that, And see us get destroyed against AC Milan in the return leg at the emirates.

Same old Arsenal. Always MESS UP at THIS stage of the season. ALWAYS. under wenger and you wonder why and question why wenger has to go?

Our team is the worse it probably has been since Wenger is in charge! We have been in this position time and time again with a far better squad(think 4 years ago when we became first team to beat AC Milan at the san siro but after that still messed up in the League, FA cup and later rounds of the CL)

Same old crap from Wenger and his players. Wenger needs to go, So does the coaching staff and so does the Board not willing to spend big cash on players(Yea lets by Arteta instead of Hazard. Lets sell fabregas and Nasri and not bother replacing both players.)

Players tonight dont deserve to wear my clubs Shirt. With th exception of henry, rvp and Ox, all and i mean all of the rest were shocking and all should be downright ashamed of themselfes tonight.

Just watch us implode like i said earlier on. We will lose FA CUP and Spurs will humiliate use in our own ground next week.

Watch and see.

And you wonder why people are calling for Wengers head........

Ruddy hell. Then again...
Milan utterly destroyed United a few years ago with Kaka in his prime. And we still went on to some pretty special seasons. Can't look at one game to evaluate a squad -- especially one so young.

But, a defensive coach, at some point, needs to come in. Some of the 'line' and 'defending' were insults to the words.

Maybe we shouldve played an even more defensive formation and mentality and looked to play for a 0-0 or 1-0. But I guess we didnt expect it to go liek this.

Rafa needs money. He wouldn't get it at Arsenal.

good point actually...but in the same time, he bought liverpool pretty good players for cheap considering how many ins and outs he had to make...he had his flops, but also success with finding top players..

if nothing he would definetly improve Arsenal defence and actually win something in europe or cups.. i think he would not be under biger pressure there as he was with Liverpool or Inter.. but i agree he is the oposite of Wenger basicly in everything..

Don't think you can draw any comparison, That was in the early stages of that great Cycle (06-09) and that Milan a great side who had peaked.

Watching Arsenal, their is hardly a player on the ball you "worry" about other than Van Persie. I mean Rosicky is the perfect example, he's a neat player but he's a whole lot of nothingness he's not going to score and he's not going to create.

he used to :(

But on a night like tonight and agaisnt a team like this you just felt no player was gonna do anything other than pass to the nearest teammate....

Whats up with Benayoun? He could play and has tricks, smae with Arshavin,

Shoudlve went

Vaqn persie up front with Benyouan and Arshavin just behind him

Then song and Ramsey and Areta Behind in middle park

eg

----------------RVP----------------

-------Arshavin--------Benyouan---------

-----Arteta-----Song----------Ramsey----

Back4
GK

Not much attacking width I guess but well Whats the point RVP aint gonna win many crosses

Yeah I Mean im not Arshavin's biggest fan but atleast theirs that chance he might just create something out of nothing and should have definitely started ahead of Rosicky.

our midfield was woeful tonight - compare Ramsey, Song and Arteta to Fabregas, Nasri and Wilshire just a year before. We've declined drastically. Still trying to play neat passing game with players who cannot play that style.

Don't even get me started on the nursery school defending. Vermaelen can stay at LB is he defends like that. He was shite, we were nervous, Milan smelt blood, and went for the kill.

The players let Wenger down tonight. The whole team didn't turn up. Why the hell play when you don't turn up for a game. We will implode now. It's about the time it happens for last 3 seasons straight.

I'm a big fan of Wenger, but now i wonder if it's not all over. It seems as if he lost the dressing room. I've never seen Arsenal that weak against a Milan team that did not impress me at all (i'm not saying that it's a bad team).

Jonney: i'm quite convinced that Arteta is a better player than Hazard at this moment...did you ever see Hazard play 90 minutes? I doubt it. You've only seen clips on Youtube with his best actions. It's clear that he's talented, but he's not as good as most people think. He can become really good, but at the moment he is a rather unfinished product. He's not even a regular in our national team, our coach sometimes prefers both Chadli and Mertens to Hazard (both players are a lot cheaper and certainly Mertens is at the moment not worse than Hazard, better value for money...).

Wow guys, what happend?

First thing that came to mind, take off -1 from team work, -1 defence from all Arsenal players :)

I can't understand why Arsenal can't buy one really good EXPERIENCED CB? Nasri + Fabregas sold, thats a lot of money,

WENGER TELL ME WHY?

prob no big player wants to come to arsenal because they know all the pressure will be on them.

We are known as a 1 man team...RVP!

So any big player has lot of pressure and expectation to sign for arsenal. Why bother when they can go to man city, chelsea, milans, madrids, barcas etc...and dont have same pressure.

I guess though easier for them to be star and get game here?

I dunno where all this money from those players sold went tbh!??! We havent spent that much..

To be honest. Milan scored one wonder goal, an offside goal, a slip from our defender and a dodgy penalty. Milan deserved the win last night though but I think the scoreline was harsh. Milan wasn't that great IMO

Disagree Jonny - clear penalty because of lazy defending. Sure, Ibra was marginally offside, but a previous action before, Seedorf was onside. You had 2 shots in the whole match that were on target, we had like 6 or 7. Your defence was being lazy, like United's in 07', so we took our chances. It could've easily been 5-0 if Pato and Antonini didn't miss those clear-cut chances.

I don't think it's harsh. It would've been harsh to Milan if it was 4-1. A strong performance doesn't have to look impressive. Our performance made Arsenal look submissive because of our confidence. We looked calm, and when that happens, you know your team is playing well.

But overall, I'm not a fan that usually likes to attribute a strong victory to a team being awful. Sure, it plays a part, but the winning team still needs to adapt to the flaws and take its chances.

Milan were efficient and experienced.

Boateng was talking shit in the papers all week, but hats off to him, he could back it up on the pitch. Whole team played as one, and defended as one. We had too many individuals and no leader.

Men vs Boys.... it was more Men vs Foetus'... it was that bad. Oh by the way, we've just given Djourou a new contract too, which just shows that we will be carrying the same deadwood for years to come.

Arsenal as a team had this coming. Especially with Wenger STILL playing a passing, pressing formation with players who simply cannot play. Couple this with a team with players who know they'll play week in week out without a doubt, then it's a recipe for disaster.

still pissed.

I think the penalty was clear aswell and Milan played very well.

But Arsenal played bad aswell, I think we didn't pass it around enough yesterday, the problem was we were too hasty with the final ball, trying stupid balls through Milan, or long punts.

We should have kept control of the ball for longer and found better openings, but when we did have the ball, we rushed it.

It was just a collectively poor game from us, but the way Milan played was perfect and they made us play that poor.

I still think this team can play the passing game.

The Djourou contract isn't that long though is it? only a couple of years?

Lets see how Arsenal respond in the FA Cup and against Spurs, if we don't play our socks off then I will go crazy!!

It is a depressing couple of days, but we were playing the Italian champions who have a very good team and at their ground. To say this team is no good completely is hasty, we aren't world beaters but all is not lost.

If we went down fighting, i'd be happier, but this was something of a slap in the face - Arsene Wenger talked about his pretenders becoming contenders, but last night they could even pretend to be pretenders.

Last night showed how far we've regressed, and also, the fact that Arsenal are no longer the team they were, but we were under an examination on TV, and we were cut open and disected for the entire football world to see our (lack of) guts.

on the bright side Gervinho comes back at least he brings the ball into the danger zone. I would like to see Theo n OX fight for the right side, atm what position is in threat ? none that`s a problem :COAT:

I really don`t think we`ll explode, this defeat should make us bounce back like the 8-2 defeat. CL -I think we`ll score 3-0 not enough to go through .

Yeah I am completely with you on the fighting part, its hard not to be angry when you see your team get beaten so badly and them not seeming to fight for it.

I do think we have regressed as a team, but I still don't think it is as far as you suggest, a couple of good signings in the summer and we can get back up to challenging the best teams in the world like Milan.

If we get a good result in the FA cup and beat Spurs, then all will look a little rosier, if we lose both of those, then I will kill myself!

Especially if we get humped by Spurs, to be honest if we get humped by Spurs and we show no fight again, I think supporters will be asking for Wengers head unfortunately.

Would you honestly be surprised if we lose in fa cup and to spurs? i wont.

we will implode like we always do at this stage of the season

Of course we've regressed as a whole, especially when you see our midfield today and our midfield last year. But there's much much more to that.

The defensive side of things was the main problem yesterday. You can play with lack of imagination or attacking power, but if your defence is alright you can still grind out a nil-nil draw. Or at least keep it 0-1 down and try to fight back in the 2nd leg.

We got found out again, and I don't know what else has to happen for actions to be taken. We need a defensive coach ASAP, as I don't trust Wenger anymore to organise our defence. I do wonder what he says to his players in the dressing room, and I think he might condone this lousy attitude. Because he certainly doesn't give the proper bollocking those guys are asking for.

There was a moment when Boateng had time to bring down a loose ball unchallenged inside our box. No one takes a responsibility. Sagna and Kos looking at each other, waiting to see who goes for it. Fuck sakes!!

Walcott didn't track back to help Sagna for the whole 1st half, not once. I think that's because he was 2nd striker in a 4-4-2, with less defensive duties - but let's face it, he doesn't track back in any formation anyway... So, it should've been Ramsey or Song there... but all I know is Sagna was left 2-on-1 on some occasions.

Pisses me off to see how our defenders forget the basics. like Arseblog posted: play to the whistle!! Why on Earth did Sagna stop his run twice in their second goal? It's like he couldn't believe his eyes, the linesman didn't give the offside. Even if it is, FFS, you play on until the ref stops it. It's infuriating when you know that Sagna has plenty of pace about him to overtake Ibrahimovic, if only he took it seriously and concentrate.

Vermaelen is a great player but one fault he has in his game is being caught high above the defensive line. Boateng's goal happened where he was supposed to be.
Plus the Belgian had really bad luck slipping up in the 3rd goal.

But in the end of the day, regardless of bad luck, you're gonna get found out if you're not doing your homework. The problem with our defence is organisational and related to work ethics too. Individually, they're good, Vermaelen, Kos and Sagna. But they need to get their shit together defending as a team.

Mourinho is a high-spending coach. He always spends over £20m in his first year in charge for any team. His contract will be crazy high too. I'd love Capello at Arsenal.

This current board will never consider Mourinho. Ivan Gazidis already made it clear that a guy like Mourinho doesn't belong at Arsenal FC, he doesn't reflect the same values as the club.
I'm glad he said that. I wouldn't stand Mourinho as our manager. He's such a prick.
Plus, he's always a short-term option, always swinging from tree to tree, he can't stay more than 3 seasons in one club. Not to mention the financial strain it would be not only to pay his salaries, but to meet his transfer targets.

Guardiola manages what is arguably the best football side ever, I can't see why he would even consider coming. Plus we can't get anywhere near the quality he has at his disposal at Barcelona.

Capello is a good coach, results driven and with the right ethics. But judging from all the sides he has ever managed, including England, if he comes to Arsenal, you can say goodbye to attractive football.

We're stuck in a bad place really. There's no suitable options to Wenger, but while I would like to see him get back on his feet, he seems to have lost the plot completely. And I'd say he's lost the dressing room. Players don't believe in him anymore. Fabregas jumped ship the same way Van Persie could abandon the project. He could really leave you know, if the club doesn't qualify for CL and he perceives a stay at Arsenal as a step back in his career.

Bet henry is glad is off to red bulls. A team who probably have a better chance of winning things(ok its only MLS but a cup is a cup) and be playing with players in the red bull that are commited and have the right work rate and ethnic.

the red bull squad may lack tecnical ability compared to us but i bet they at least try and are 100% commited unlike our bunch of useless twats.

This post of yours really get my goat

From what I saw of Henry he would love to have stayed at Arsenal.

Have you seen any Red Bull games to comment on?

Also we have shown good team spirit and commitment in lots of games this season, our great run after the humiliating start to the season was full of gutsy displays and commitment, our comeback in the FA Cup to win was also the same and also our last game against Sunderland.

Just because we played like that last night it doesn't now mean everyteam shows more commitment than our team now?!

I really don't like it when people say stuff like this. (Not just you Jonney)

BBC posted a tweet from somebody yesterday saying something like 'Ibrahimovic has he even got out of a walking pace yet?!' basically implying he was commanding the game without doing anything and not having to run. This was after he was offside and legged it down the wing to set up the second goal.

Views like this just dumbfound me, like the earlier posts from others, declaring why Arsene can't invest in an experienced defender (when he did in Merteesacker) and that we are not spending and where has all of the money gone? (When we spent over 60million in the summer).

It is like people have short memories and it annoys me. Please be critical of the team/WEnger/Board and what we are seeing is not acceptable, but if you are going to have a go, please make sure that what you are saying is actually true.

This was a general rant and not to be taken personally by anybody, I am just pissed off with the whole situation like you all are. But saying things and adding things onto the very long list of things that are wrong that aren't really true, doesn't do anything.
