Arsenal Thread

We have to say kudos to the boss AW today for changing the course of the match with his 3 substitutions: Ramsey, Arshavin and Henry.
Worked wonders!

Bit of a shame he has to go really, I think if he was a possible burden the first time he left, it felt like he added "something" (a bit like Cantona) that added confidence and moments that this current Arsenal team could do with.

im happy for Arshavin. That was a scorcher of a cross, under pressure and he puts it between 2 defenders and right in front on Henry.

Sure he cant defend for shit...this is not why we paid 15mil for him....but for what he done today.

Now lets hope he has more off that kinda form. Well hes 31 soon so maybe his time is nearly up....?

No can't do, he will be available for a last time against AC Milan this Wednesday. And that's it!
But I think it's better this way, if you ask me. He's walking away on a high, he guaranteed us 3 points in his last appearance, everybody is over the moon with his winner. Let this be a magical moment (yet another) to go down in the club history.

Now he's going and Gervinho will be back anyway. We have to give some minutes to Gervinho and Arshavin, to boost their confidence. Gervinho missed a penalty on the ANC final, I just hope his confidence is not too much shaken. As for Arshavin, he might recover his own confidence having provided a vital assist to Henry. I just hope the vast majority of knobheads who were booing him will refrain from doing so when Tottenham comes to visit next weekend. Unless they are really really stupid.

What's your squad status for the Milan game or probable formation?

Milan are having injury worries now so something like this:

Amelia
Abate-Nesta-Silva-Zamborotta
Van Bommel-Seedorf-Nocerino
Boateng
Ibra-Robinho

gervinho had a good semi, hope pen miss dont hit hiom too much.

IMO hell be hyped to play for arsenal to forget/get over the final ASAP

Gervinho did not have a good semi-final, he only scored a beauty of a goal, but in reality he had an absolutely dreadfull tournament.

Neither did i, but i heard this from journalists (Jonathan Wilson among others) who went to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to see the matches live. Gervinho had a really awfull tournament apart form that wondergoal.

That is debatable IMO matherto...he isn't the type who scores much (in fact he misses quite a lot of chances), but i've seen him done very good things.
Don't forget that he deserves credit because this is his first season in the EPL. Last season he was outstanding...perhaps even more important than Hazard and Cabaye...

To be fair he's been mostly terrible all season.

Rubbish!, he hasn't been terrible!

For his first season (First half of the season) he has an good assists and goal record.

24 (4 of those off the bench) games in league, Europe and Cups together and has scored 4 and has 7 assists.

He gets into good positions, but his finishing is letting him down at the moment, he hasn't been terrible

Depends on the injury diagnosis of Mert, Gervinho's availablity and for Gibbs' fitness now he's back, but i think you'll see one of the following:

1)
Szczęsny
Sagna-Koscielny-Song-Vermaelen
Coquelin
Arteta-Ramsey
Walcott-Van Persie-Oxlade-Chamberlain

2)
Szczęsny
Coquelin-Koscielny-Vermaelen-Sagna
Song
Arteta-Ramsey
Walcott-Van Persie-Arshavin

3)
Szczęsny
Sagna-Koscielny-Vermaelen-Gibbs
Song
Arteta-Ramsey
Walcott-Van Persie-Gervinho

Well based on how Lennon opened highways in our defence last year, I predict Arsene will put both Walcott and Ox.

I think number 3 of Icemans lineups. Bring on the Ox and Arshavin later in the game when Milan are a bit more tired. I wouldn't mind seeing Rosicky start aswell.

Wenger mulling over left-back options

“I believe physically and mentally he is ready. But if I start him, which is not decided yet, I do not want to put too much pressure on him because we want a good team performance. Gibbs is a good player.

“I will find the most natural [solution], which means I will put Vermaelen back in the middle. Gibbs looks to be ready so I might look to start him but I have not decided completely yet.”

#3 looking more likely now...

what do you all think of this 3 year rule about Wenger

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jan/10/three-year-rule-barcelona

Mayeb a fresh manager woudl liven things up a lot....I think its a bit stale with wenger about even if hes still doing ok and was once a hero for us.

Barca are now 10 points behind RM lol. Sounds like that article is bang on.

However, Wenger is more or less managing a new squad so he "should be ok" in theory as based on that article, the 3 year rule means you either change managers every 3 years o change squad every 3 years.
