Arsenal Thread

Well, you seem strong by your conviction will see I personally don't want a owner at the grounds everyday showing hus cock power or picking what players to pick either. Whether its too much of a bite to chew is somthing will just wait n see.. I for the life of me dont get your theory on buying players .Wenger wants a player and when it leaks out everyone else out bids us. I dont agree how do we know Chelseas plan? to say they wanted Mata only after us and did Wenger really wanted Mata? We got gervinho . Wenger never mention until the deal is done so all thoses from a reliable source means Wenger was window shoppIng I know a few mutd feel mancity scouting is from mutd but its not.

Our transfer window misfortune is no theory of mine. It's a combination of lack of planning, Wenger being cheap playing hardball and the sheer financial doping of our rivals.

Chelsea hadn't done a single move for Mata. After our failed bid, they came along and took him from under our noses.
The Mata deal should have done as swiftly as possible and no playing around. Wenger was hesitating, bargaining and still waiting to see if Nasri would stay, when in fact he had one foot out the door.
And God knows that we didn't properly replace Nasri and Fabregas. Arteta came and he's very good and consistent, but nowhere near as creative as them.

Just the other day my mate was telling me how Phil Jones could have joined Arsenal, but United came along and outbid us.

All I'm saying is that AW needs to rethink the way he operates in the transfer market. You don't see United beating around the bush when they want to sign someone. You see they doing it quietly and quickly.

All of our transfer sagas are down to Wenger playing hardball with other teams. Just remember Arshavin's last minute saga. Or when we needed a goalkeeper badly, were on the verge of signing Schwarzer, but the deal stalled because Fulham was asking £3m and AW offered £2m. The result of that, as we know it, was 1 full season packed with emotion with Almunia and Fabianski on goal.

It all remains a theory of yours because you don't know what is happening really, nobody does that is the frustration.

All of your information is from the papers regarding transfers we really don't know what happened and if what they were saying was right?

There were also reports that Phil Jones snubbed us for Man united, which implies it was up to him in the end where he wanted to go? you can read stories contradicting stories, so how do you know what is right?

The season after the summer we were after Schwarzer, Scez came into the team for the second half, which is a blessing. If we would have got Schwarzer would Scez have got his chance when he did? I don't think Schwarzer was that great anyway, but everybody was so desperate for a keeper that they saw him as the second coming.

The financial doping is effecting us I will agree with that definately. But when players like Henderson and Phil jones go for the money they did you know something is wrong with the world and I cant really blame Arsenal for not paying ridiculous money for unproven English players.

While I agree there's a great deal of rumour in what newspapers publish about Arsenal's dealings in the transfer market, I just can't imagine a club of this stature refusing to cough up £1m more for a proven goalkeeper.
It's easy for us to say now "Arsene knows", he had SZCZ up his sleeve, so it's a blessing... Well that was a gamble! What if SCZC didn't do as good as he did? His confidence wouldn't be the same now. In the end AW took a huge gamble because of £1m. For our 1st team GK.

Phil Jones is good, but he was a gamble too. So was Ox. I think the price tag on the Ox is a reflects how much AW wanted the kid. For a guy who saves a million for his 1st team GK, thats was a lot. He really wanted to secure the kid, and I'm glad he did!

Everything is a gamble, every decision that is true and he obviously will spend the money if he feels it is worth it as in the Ox. Phil Jones it sounded like we offered the same as Man United, but he chose united? from the couple of things I have read about it.

If you can't believe Arsene didn't get schwarzer because he didn't want to pay 1mill more, then it might not be true?

Every transfer is a gamble, because you never know really how a player will perform for your club. Managers have to use their experience and knowledge to reduce the odds in their favour and Arsene has proved time and again he has done a good job in this respect with former players. So if Wenger makes a decision not to buy a player for a certain amount I will respect that.

and this is more telling... so believe the evidence not the politics! Wenger will pay for someone he deems worthy . I really believe he wanted m`vila ,but the club didnt want to sell according to their chairman . Goetz is another player he wanted well here say!!

wasnt walcott same relative price as OX in terms of years and inflation?

Whos the next up and coming young black winger in southamptons youth team...we may as well try get them now save us a few million!!

I consider them just Englishmen nothing more!!

it was just a joke.

Its ironic..similar positions, similar players, similar ages, simialr heights, both bought from southampton and both so happen to be black, and both very highly priced teenagers.

Maybe we shuoldve bought craig david back in the day too lol

funnily jermaine pennant also same as them 2 and another overpriced teen winger prodigee

Jermaine Pennant, Kieran Dyer, Scott Sinclair, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Routledge, Aaron Lennon, Ox, Walcott, Nathan Dyer, the list goes on...

They all have many things in common.

Don't forget, Nathan Dyer started at Southampton too.

yeh what ever happened to fast white wingers, not being racist, but really? Was there ever any?

Garteh Bale but hes a left back really?

I consider myself a pacey skillful winger if only I were black I couldve been playing pro!!

Dude, just look at Arsenal

Marc Overmars was one of the fastest men in football.
Theres also Arshavin at his peak from 25 to 28 years old. And Freddie Ljungberg, AW used to say he was his fastest player in training!

yeh but I mean english!!! not foreign

I wouldn't call Bale a left-back anymore and yah he's Welsh.

But yes that was my point. If you're black, English, and a winger, there's TONS of you! It's one of the stereotypes of English football. There are so many players like that and of course I forgot some in that list like Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor and even someone like Daniel Sturridge if you consider him a winger (which I don't, he's really a forward who's playing there these days)

And there are many more I can't think off the top of my right now.

There's Matt Jarvis who's got good speed but not THAT fast.

There was David Bentley before who was also a winger and a great crosser but not fast. Jarvis is faster than him.

Nowadays there's Marc Albrighton.

There's Adam Johnon and Stewart Downing of course as left-footer wingers both from Boro Academy. Johnson's faster than Downing though.

they dont really come off as flair, dribbling pacey winger types though.

Johnson and Albrighton do. Both fast, great dribblers and typical wingers.

Jarvis and Downing have less pace but more intelligent and better distribution.

Hope Merte is OK, looked like a very bad injury :(

Yeeeeeeeaaahhhhhhhhhh
Thierry Henry, Thierry Henry! Thierry Henry, Thierry Henry! :D

Now this is a true club legend, an idol, an icon! Did you guys watch his celebrations at the end of the match?
His last Premier League match, and what a way to go in great style!!

AW was right, he starts to look sharper physically too, after a few weeks training, too bad he has to leave now when he's getting fitter and fitter. NYRB will be delighted!

But what a touch, what a finish!

Fantastic delivery by Arshavin on the cross too. That's what I was talking about, the reason why I'd pick Arshavin over Walcott any day. Walcott can try making that cross for 2 months. He will never do something like that!
And that's why "fans" booing Arshavin are so stupid. He's clearly in poor form, but the season is long and we need his help, and from any other player who can contribute.

What a turn of events, huh? Just when it wasn't looking like our day at all, with Mertesacker getting injured and gifting a goal at the same time (how unlucky was that)? To come back like this is just amazing!
I just hope there's nothing too serious with Mertesacker.
And thanks to Sczc's great couple of saves we didn't concede another one.

Well done boys, that's the spirit! To win away at Sunderland is quite hard. Especially under Martin O'Neill. City went there and lost, so did others.
I'm very very pleased with the result :)

Back in the top 4 for now, it seems?

Thierry Henry !!! Thierry Henry!!! God must be smiling on Thierry Henryyyyy.

I love this bloke I truly do!!! Ramsey did good a well deserve goal from him. Hard match woeful pitch. Arshhhhhh delivered the ball perfectly. Can`t see Newc come from 3 nil so, 4th spot for 2 weeks :) .

Chels My Lord ! MUTD vs Liverpool... classless !!!

FANTATSIC RESULT. AGAINST THE BEST IN FORM SIDE IN THE LEAGUE, AWAY FROM HOME!
FOR ONCE ASHAVIN PROVED HIS WORTH. THAT ASSIST WILL DO WONDERS FOR HIS CONFIDENCE

Imagine how many goals Henry would score if hadn't left! Moreover what it would give us as a team!He would be as an living legend and idol besides you and a fantastic coach for youngster!
But I guess it was also his decision!
