Arsenal Thread

I completely agree with those last posts.
There is also less outrage about Terry's "racist reaction" than about Suarez'....Granted Chelsea handled this much more intelligent than Liverpool, but still...

Agreed, yet another example of difference in treatment.

Another example that just occurred to me is Rooney diving. He's one of the major divers in the modern game, and he tried pulling it off on Sunday against Arsenal. As usual, not a word from the commentators. They never pick up on this and he always gets away with it. But players like Nani, C. Ronaldo, Gervinho, Eduardo, Torres have all been labeled divers and some have been under heavy fire by the media.

All in all English players are protected and hyped by the media, so when Euros and World Cups come, media and fans are overly confident... only to find out the reality is very different.

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the emirates stadium Andrei Arshavin
Such a bad substitution

SO whats the future. Lets be honest this squad is going nowhere anytime soon and Arsene Wenger is getting stale at the club? but whats the alternative.

Well if my wishes came true 2-3 years ago i.e wenger gone, we would have been laughing right about now. But like i have said time and time again, what manager would wanna manage the likes of djurough and co?

How do you know you'd be laughing now? Because blah blah blah? You don't know how anything would have panned out. That's a fact.

All i know is a team with fabregas, nasri and other top players we have let go is far better then the squad we have no. AND thats fact.

no ifs or buts about it. Cant say ramsey and arteta ar ebetter then nasri and fabregas :LMAO:

Jonney, you presume Nasri and Cesc would still be with Arsenal if Wenger wasn't there anymore. I have the distinct feeling that in that case they would have left earlier...

No matter how good Arsenal would have been, Fabregas would still have left for his boyhood club.
And i doubt this would have prevented Nasri to leave...but that is speculative.

I'm fed up of you keep putting Nasri with Fabregas, he had at most collectively 1 good season for us, but he went missing in many games. I think the way he left and the money involved has made his star shine brighter than it actually is.

I think for the team Arteta is much better than Nasri and does so much more than Nasri did and is much more consistant. So to answer your question I think Arteta is better than Nasri yes :))

Ramsey is still very young and has a great potential to be a great player for us and also Wilshere.

So if you are comparing like for like I would much rather have the midfield we have now, with players that want to play for us and have collectively (when they all play together) imo made our midfield better.

Also the Rwanden presidents views don't really mean much do they? why should anything he says on football mean anything? if it was one of our board members or former players then maybe, but a politician...no thank you very much :))

Was he hinting, or did he say it outright? there is a difference.

But he is a drunk anyway :PP

Too be honest though, I don't really like Merson as a pundit. I loved him as a player, but I rarely agree with him when I have seen him on Sky sports etc

Fabregas would have gone back to Barcelona anyway, even if he had won silverware with Arsenal.
And the only way Nasri would stay with Arsenal was if they renewed his contract at around £200k a week.
And that's all there is to it mate.

What's the use of pondering ifs now? If Abramovich didn't come along we could have won more silverware and it would still be Arsenal and United for a much longer period. If Abu Dhabi didn't buy out City we would be still able to offer competitive wages to our players and we would be sitting in the top 4 now. If my mom had a moustache.... I would have had 2 fathers? :P

Agreed. Chels n city are financially doping the league. Chels were bad at it they bought so no one could.Stubborn mutd were force to pay and look at them now.

Thing is replacing wenger doesnt guarantee success. What if new manager has poor season do we sack them and replace again, then again and again when does it stop.

Thats what all modern teams are like get a manager give him 1-2 seasons then replace him apart from wenger and ferguson they are only ones associated with a big club.

Maybe it is time for him to go but still doesnt mean things will improve.
Especially it may take new man 1-2 seasons to get his team together but in modern day football managers only get 1-2 seasons then they are sacked so would we bring in a guy and give him a a mimimum 3-5 year plan and cash for transfers?

Yes but Moyes is the ultimate example that in the end it goed dowhill if you can't spend.
He is a brilliant manager and Everton were a brilliant team, but one bad transfer (Saha) and the team goes downhill. Is Moyes to blame? Not at all.

Everton's story reminds me of another club with a brilliant manager....

Arsenal

Didn't Arsenal just go on like a 8 game winning streak (before the last 3)?

When Wilshere, Gibbs and Sagna are healthy, Arsenal still have a very, very good first XI imo.

Wenger is fine, he is an institution. Without him certain players would never come to Arsenal. He builds a sustainable organisation the right way, and fine, you have a few years with no trophies, but in just 3 more you'll have no debt left. At that point, Arsenal are set.

I'd much rather be in Arsenal's position than City or Chelsea's. The fact remains that both of those are a decision away from shutting down.

Exactly.

did anyone see Côte d'Ivoire last night? specially Gervinho? Titi needs to give some leassons. the thing is he's a real drive for the attack.
also, Ptiroipa looks a real threat. at least at that level.
if you think from Wenger's perspective, it is wise to wait for the summer to make transfers, but prices will get inflated, he'll moan about it even though it's predictable and should do with it, it's a real gamble for our season.
there's no comparison between Nasri and Arteta, I'd take Arteta any time.
we are all told the fruits for this way of running business will come, but they never seem to come. and more and more decisions are becoming inexplicable...

there's no comparison between Nasri and Arteta, I'd take Arteta any time.

That is a rather ridiculous statement my friend.
I too tend to think that Arteta is as least as good as Nasri, but when i would have claimed that last year at the same period you would have said that i was insane (be fair and concede it, i'm 100% sure of that).

I think it is a fair statement, now taking into consideration everything up until this point, I also think there is no comparison between the two and would take Arteta in a heartbeat.

They are different players of course, but I think Arteta has brought more to the team in an alround aspect than Nasri ever did imo.

gerd, i would conceded that Nasri and Arteta are different players, with different positions (wide vs central, although Nasri can play central, rather well at least last season), but couldn't compare since i didn't see nearly as much of Arteta compared with how much I've seen Nasri.
I would have taken Cesc over Arteta, maybe. but, Arteta is very usefull for attack, midfield and defence. that's why I fancy him so much.
to be fair, I haven't seen Nasri much this season. he doesn't interest me anymore. but now I have enough info to compare the two and that's why I'm doing it now.

I am tired of Wenger of the last years, but I must say I don't think we would be better without him, with any manager (even if it was a good one).
I think we all want an improved Wenger, wich could be a reason for frustration because that man isn't appearing.

Just like Vermaelen last season. And a season before that, it was RVP. Wilshere now likely to miss the whole season... :(

WTF is wrong with Arsenal's medical/physios department?!

Yet again Wenger has been put in the same situation with the verm and now, with jack will he bring someone in sure Ramsey looks knackered. Diaby is nowhere near to comeback i doubt he'll bring reinforcement. I just dont know what to thonk if we get knocked out fa by villa
