Arsenal Thread

We started so well yesterday but things just seem to fall aprt. cesc looked knackered and devoid of any ideas but he is only 18 and you can expect the level he's given recently in every game.

The person I was most disappointed with was Bobby P, he was shocking in my opinion and shirked so many tackles, he didn't even play in the week.

As for finishing fourth we will still get it and I'm extremely confident of that. Spurs run in is:

Everton (a)
Man Utd (h)
Arsenal (a)
Bolton (h)
West Ham (a)

I can only see them picking up about 4-5 points there and in comparison our run of :

Pompey (a)
WBA (h)
Man City (a)
Spurs (h)
Sunderland (a)
Wigan (h)

look the most favourable don't you think. Too many Manc fans are getting excited about Arsenal falling apart at the seams but it wont happen. We have a fantastic future ahead of us now with a great young squad and a brilliant new stadium. Even if Theirry leaves (which I still don't think he will) I have faith in Wenger finding the right replacement for him.

OO TO OO TO BE, OO TO BE A GOONER!

We can all look at fixtures and say ''yeah we'll win that game and that game, maybe a draw there' but it doesnt work like that, so many things come into play, fatigue, referree, luck etc. If we weny by looking at fixtures and judging the outcome, then arsenal will surely win all those games but we all know that aint gonna happen like that. On paper spurs face a difficult few tasks but so do arsenal. It may seem light on paper but on the pitch anything can happen, so be weary of kidding yourself in believing you got a much easier run in.

:applause:

Damn right.

As an incidental point, I think I would prefer Man Yoo to win the title now. Say what you like about them, they are at least a real team. The pleasure of seeing Mourinho/Drogba/Abramobitch in utter distress after throwing away a 17 point lead would more than compensate for a few happy plastic London reds IMO. Thoughts?

I have said all along lets look at it at the end of the season, if we have made it then great. If not then its time for a post mortem and abuse from other fans!

I'm not kidding myself we have got an easier run in and you do look at future fixtures and guage where you should take points. Arsene will look at a game like WBA at home and say Spurs should drop oints against Man U and we will win that game to put the pressure back on.

I know results aren't set in stone but you have to favour playing certain teams over others.

Not much of a choice is it?

Chelsea - Chequebook champions, funding by a russian mafia money, no history, no class, a small club from Fulham.

United - Plastic fans, more fans in China than in the UK, managed by a violent alcoholic psycho with a purple nose, star player is a granny shagging scouser.

Not that I am bitter or anything ;)

I do kinda see where you're getting at with the other points, but (saying the Pool has a big supporter population in the far east) isn't it inaccurate to compare with a population which is many hundred times bigger than that in the UK? ;)

Love em or not...but it's the plastic fans that bring the money in at the end of the day.

WELL Lets put arsenal on that list and see if they are any better than the above mentioned;

Arsenal- Fickle delusioned supporters that are prone into believing in hype and resist admitting defeat when beaten. Managed by a scheming skinny wrinkle foreskin face old man who is obsessed with 'young talent' and perorms psychological theraphy on his players so he can groom them to perform well on and off the pitch for private matters. Star players usaully leave after growing up and realising theyve been psychologically abused and used.

I thought this was much funnier than Alucards Wenger onslaught. As what Clockender says in this post is actually true!

Its like the scariest horror films are always the ones where they are normal human beings that have just gone mental!

On that point, I think Fergusons nose should have a Horror movie all on its own!

Words from Wenger from Sundays game...

Wenger said:
Dear Arsenal supporter,

Some people have said that Wayne Rooney was the difference between the two sides on Sunday but I don't agree. I feel we had early chances in the first half which we didn't take and after that I believe Manchester United were sharper than us.

Physically they had the edge after the first half-an-hour and I believe that made a big difference. On the first goal we lost the ball in our half and after it was 1-0 we missed two great chances, one for Van Persie and one for Adebayor.

I left Thierry Henry out of the starting line-up because he had not recovered from Wednesday night's game. He was not injured but he has played more games than the other players and he played on his own up front against Juventus twice.

But I don't think Thierry being on the bench was a major factor in us losing the game. The game is not about those who sit on the bench, and we have lost at Old Trafford with Thierry on the pitch as well.

I think it is important to do the right things in the game, and we did not concede a goal because Thierry was sitting on the bench. It is always easy to look at the game like that but you have to analyse it like it happened, and United deserved to win because they were sharper.

Basically, in a big game you must score first if you want to win. You cannot lose a goal like we lost the first one and expect to win the game.

We were jaded on Sunday and the result certainly diminishes our chances of finishing fourth. However, it is still in our hands mathematically. We are five points behind Tottenham with a game in hand, we still have to play them at home and they also have some difficult games.

It is open but of course we want to win every game. Our problem is that we have fixture congestion with the Champions League games and we paid the price a little bit against United.

In previous years we could afford to drop the odd point and still qualify for the Champions League, but this season were are in a worse league position so there is less margin for error.

Thanks for your support.

Arsene Wenger.

What a load of bollox, this more excuses from wenger for the fans to console themselves to believe in. Well me break this down, Runeedge style

Well yes rooney did make the difference since he scored and set up the second goal and made the 2-0 scoreline.

Physically they had the edge after the first half-an-hour and I believe that made a big difference. On the first goal we lost the ball in our half and after it was 1-0 we missed two great chances, one for Van Persie and one for Adebayor.

Shots on goal dont mean 'great chances'

I left Thierry Henry out of the starting line-up because he had not recovered from Wednesday night's game. He was not injured but he has played more games than the other players and he played on his own up front against Juventus twice.

Ah poor Henry, he must be so knackered, even though he was out for 3 months earlier in the campaign with a groin injury

But I don't think Thierry being on the bench was a major factor in us losing the game. The game is not about those who sit on the bench, and we have lost at Old Trafford with Thierry on the pitch as well.

True

No you didnt concede more goals cuz of Toure's goalkeeping skills. We deserved to win cuz we were sharper?? We deserved to win cuz we the better team, get it right.

Basically, in a big game you must score first if you want to win. You cannot lose a goal like we lost the first one and expect to win the game.

Well if your good enough, you should be able to come bk from being a goal down but your team just wasnt good enough.

We were jaded on Sunday and the result certainly diminishes our chances of finishing fourth. However, it is still in our hands mathematically. We are five points behind Tottenham with a game in hand, we still have to play them at home and they also have some difficult games.

Mathematically in your hands?? Contridiction at its best. If your team is 5 points behing 4th spot, and relying on tottenham to lose 'some difficult games' then surely its out of your hands mathematically and theoretically

It is open but of course we want to win every game. Our problem is that we have fixture congestion with the Champions League games and we paid the price a little bit against United.

Good one, the fixture congestion excuse. Always works in big defeats like this. It consoles fans into believing their side is getting the bad side of the draw with fixtures, although arsenal had a weeks rest 2weeks ago when their match with Portsmouth was postponed but we dont hear of that advantage when they defeated Juve.

In previous years we could afford to drop the odd point and still qualify for the Champions League, but this season were are in a worse league position so there is less margin for error.

In previous years arsenal werent worrying about qualifying for a champions league place cuz they were actually good enough to be concerned about challenging for the title.

Thanks for your support.

Do you not understand the theory of having a situation "in our own hands".

Well let me explain as surely its fairly simple for even you to understand.

Here goes, are you ready?

Sure?

Win all our league games between now and the end of the season (6 games)and the target of 4th place is achieved, guaranteed. Thats the situation we find oursleves in now. How easy is that to grasp?

No even if you win 6games even though i doubt, and tottenham win all theirs, your still 2points behind, so again its in tottenhams hands not Arsenals. Is that easier to understand after the third time of demonstrating that its out of your hands. Aresenal are the ones chasing so how could it be in your hands? Its as dumb as saying its in united hands to win the title when they are the ones clearly doing all the chasing and hoping on chelsea dropping points.

The above statement is true.\\:o/

Check the table, check who we have to play and then get back to me. I look forward to your reply.

Oh I will give you a little clue, we still have to play Tottenham.

lol ok i just remembered you got to play them, but its a must win. A draw and its not good enough. Ultimatly its just as much in your hands as it is in theirs basically when it comes to the match next weekend. Ive seen the fixtures btw and i dont buy into believing its plain sailing for Arsenal and certain draws and defeats for Tottenham.

Well whether its in your hands and what the actual chances of it happening are two different things. As a matter of fact, from the moment the league starts, winning the title is in everyones hands. But really does that mean anything?
The point is, 6 straight wins is a lot to ask from a team that JUST lost a game and have the CL to think about.
