Arsenal Thread

Oh and United fans, don't too excited eh? Its still Chelsea's title.
I dont think we're expecting to win the title. Its more like a target to aim at cuz we all knew Chelsea have it anyway. Kinda like how you lot are aiming for 4th place.

Why can't we get "too excited" Clockender? We are 2nd in the league, firing on all cylinders, won 9 games in a row and still have to play Chelsea! Of course we are going to get excited - it could be a Championship winning run!

Also, you're avatar is ridiculous: "Never outgunned"!?

2-0 mate.

Thats a contradiction, you are aiming at something that isn't there?

You are 2nd and are gonna finish 2nd at best, hardly what you set out to do at the start of the season is it?

Yeah you won 2-0 and fully deserved it but lets not get carried away its just 3 points.

My avatar isn't ridiculous, I love it. Its better than having a shitty paintshop job flag with my name on it  .

I didn't steal my avatar from someone else though, did I Clockender!

So, how much is your time machine because I wouldn't mind one! Or are you just guessing at a Chelsea top-spot finish?

Also, 'real' Gooners would want another club to win the title, not a RIVAL LONDON-CLUB!? (You got some blue inside I bet!)

I don't care who wins the league this year as long is not you lot, you really are the most plastic set of fans on this earth.

If you want a wager on who will win the title, bring it on and name your price. Seeing as you are so confident...

Well, we all know Arsenal wont win it!

Plastic? ZZzzzzzzzzz. Not that old chessnut.

We know Chelsea are most likely gonna win the title but since we're already resting in 2nd, what are we supposed to aim for now?
People aim high to avoid getting complacent. Unlike your players. Most of your defeats happen because you get complacent.

calm down! calm down!

I think wenger molester was trying to do a Sir alex in resting Henry. Oh well it back fired. Ah it feels good beating arsenal. Whats best about it is there is no more hearing of cheating referees, diving, foul play, pizzas and penalties. Of course Wenger molester tried to cry about the midweek game against Juve taking its toll on the players, oh i almost wept!

Thats the only reason I could think that Thierry didn't start was because Arsene would think we are likely to get points elsewhere. Even still, there was pride and confidence at stake. I hope we can bounce back on Wednesday.

What kind of manager rests his key player cuz he doesnt believe his side can get a result?

I'd rather my manager be crying about the mid-week success that put us through to the semi's of the CL than my manager crying about sitting at home on his fat scottish arse wondering what ready meal to cook himself.

lol ah man, semi final means nothing epecially when your sitting 5th place 5points behind CL qualification position. If you even get past villereal, you guys have to meet either Barce or Milan and i think arsenal will get torn apart like they did today against United. But even villereal can beat arsenal so be carful not to be so cocky. Im sure sitting 2nd, with gurentee and automatic qualification with CC cup already in cabinet and maybe the premiership trophy,is much more relaxing position for the scottish Knight to what arsenal and wenger molester are in now. Its a bit of a gamble for arsenal in this situatiion, anything is possible, and arsenal can end up having the most miserable season. No CL cup, 5th place, wenger in jail and then Henry to leave. This isnt far fetched either, its highly possible all that i mentioned can and will hopefully happen.

Just wanted to ask the Arsenal crew here, should you fail to reach the 4th spot and then get bumped in the CL, would you regard the season a failure?

In reality deep down inside, yes probably would be but as far as admitting it publicly will go, they'll probably not and answer will be something like "This was a transitional season for us and we had to sell Vieira to let the next generation of bright Arsenal youngsters get playing time and ready and this season even though we haven't won $hit and have had many losses, has taught us a lot of new things about some youngsters/new players like Fabregas, Hleb, Flamini, Eboue and others and just how capable and promising they really are. which is a very valuable thing blah blah blah (ya know the rest)" and yes I agree actually with what they say in some ways with this stuff and yes therefore in my opinion they have some points somewhere in there! :)

But anyway two things gotta be said:

1. This thread's comedy value has been awesome lately and I just laughed my ass off at several classic funny comments by both sets of fans (Bradley, Ninja, Alucard, Total) while reading last few pages

Keep up the entertaining funny comments guys! :applause:

2. I noticed this reply unless I missed something went by a couple pages back without getting any real recognition or proper reply but I think this may very well be an important factor and good point/observation.

Do you think that language could be a factor in the defence being tight?

Flamini - France - French
Senderos - Switzerland - French/German
Toure - Ivory Coast - French
Eboue - Ivory Coast - French

Got a feeling that could be it, as they move well as a unit! Hope i havne't jinxed them for Sunday! :(

Also, a point no one else has noted, but can you see Ralph coming back into the team since Eboue is playing so well? I certainly can't!

harsh words....did uncle wenger hurt you :(

Lets just keep this about football, not going off topic into fantasies of you imagining wenger is my uncle. Thats quite disturbing. Back to football and I think arsenal's confidence would have taken quite a dent after yesterdays beating, dont you guys think? Maybe their belief in themselves is gone like what happened last season at old trafford when their 49 unbeaten run came to an end. It may be even worst for the players this time round. the manager cant tell them stories of controversies being reason why they lost or some outside force influencing the game, believing they were victims of some conspiracy. We all know arsenal escaped a man being sent off and penalty not being called, so all the vital controversial decisions was in their favour this time. That defeat probably induced a feeling of being brought back down to earth and realising they are a 5th placed team, not one that can hold it up with the big teams challenging for the title. Sure CL has been aan escape from that reality but when the season is coming to the end and the team suffers a heavy defeat like yesterday, tiredness creeps in and confidence can be low. It should serve am interesting encounter on wednesday. Portsmouth away from home with them gaining more confidence by the weeks and arsenal being tired and battered. It should be a good game with anything likely to happen like maybe an upset.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz..........

I am not panicking yet as 4th is still in our hands, we can't afford to drop anymore points though.

I really feel that our run in the league is the easiest of the 4th place challengers but that don't mean that its easy!!

Its a big game for both teams on Wednesday and its one we have to win, should be an entertaining game as both sides will be going for it. If Pompey attack that should suit us down to the ground.

Kid yourself again, maybe you havnt noticed but spurs are in 4th place 5points ahead. They have to drop the points if they are to lose 4th place not arsenal. Arsenal have to win and hope spurs lose, so theoretically its out of arsenals hands so to speak. I know you will say you have a game in hand blah blah blah but you still have to win that game to close the gap. A draw not good enough, so the pressure is on.

You're forgetting our game in hand. If we win that, then it's just 2 points between us and Spurs.

Alucard is right, they need to drop points, and we play them too, so hopefully we can take 3 there as well.

Just got a feeling that with all this North London bickering, we might both get pipped by Blackburn!

Of all the games we had left this is the only one we could justifiably loose. We were all over them in the first 20 minutes but they came back strong and physically we dropped a few gears. To beat Man Utd at OT you need to be on top of your game and I thought some players looked noticably jaded in the second half.

When your third game in 8 days is a trip to OT after a night of giving your all in the Stadio Del Alpi, something's gonna give. Utd just looked fitter and fresher all over the park, I swear we didn't win a 50-50 in the last half hour. You can't honestly say we deserved to win, United's first goal was about as good as they come, let's hope Rooney saving some of those for the World Cup.

Maybe we need a little squad rotation to give a few players a rest. Toure looked ready to drop at the final whistle, have we rested him since the ACN?

The bottom line; if Man Yoo beat Spurs then this result doesn't matter. It's a somewhat unfamiliar situation but we need to stay focused in the league. 4th is all that matters and 4th is all that's good enough. Our chance for glory this year is in Europe, we'll see about doing something in the Prem next year.

Like i said portsmouth v arsenal is the game arsenal should be worrying about. A win will be everything and would put the pressure on spurs, then you can think about them losing to Utd. But a draw and your still 4points behind spurs and then tottenham can afford to lose against united and draw against arsenal when they meet at highbury next weekend. It should be interesting and laughable whatever happens since i cant stand neither teams, hoefully blackburn do a number on both your asses.

Its all ifs and buts.

There is hardly any 'ifs' and 'buts' in my sentences but rather very high possibilities and strenuous situations arising for arsenal which you cant deny.

We started so well yesterday but things just seem to fall aprt. cesc looked knackered and devoid of any ideas but he is only 18 and you can expect the level he's given recently in every game.

The person I was most disappointed with was Bobby P, he was shocking in my opinion and shirked so many tackles, he didn't even play in the week.

As for finishing fourth we will still get it and I'm extremely confident of that. Spurs run in is:

Everton (a)
Man Utd (h)
Arsenal (a)
Bolton (h)
West Ham (a)

I can only see them picking up about 4-5 points there and in comparison our run of :

Pompey (a)
WBA (h)
Man City (a)
Spurs (h)
Sunderland (a)
Wigan (h)

look the most favourable don't you think. Too many Manc fans are getting excited about Arsenal falling apart at the seams but it wont happen. We have a fantastic future ahead of us now with a great young squad and a brilliant new stadium. Even if Theirry leaves (which I still don't think he will) I have faith in Wenger finding the right replacement for him.

OO TO OO TO BE, OO TO BE A GOONER!
