Arsenal Thread

Fans are scared. Wenger wont buy pure frustration...plus a MLS team

U mad?

Serioulsy, fans booing in a pre-season game is just non-sense.

Watch at the end of the season. you will all want wenger sacked. anyways im in philippines on a holiday so i have not kept track on arsenal but looks like where getting bad from worse.

last i heard is that we let a 2:0 slip. no surpises there.

this arsenal side is fucking shit. All because of wenger and the board. You got to be a crackhead to really support and believe in wenger. cant full me 6 times in a row. Maybe u guys but not me

how can't u boo if we play like this already in preseaseon frendlies if you look at Manchester untd pre season than you would understand what fans want from Arsenal!

It's ridiculous, the team changed around so much in the two days, it's about fitness and getting tuned up for the beginning of the season. It's about trying out things and seeing what works and what doesn't.

It's not about spanking teams left right and centre to prove how great we are going to be.

Liverpool have had some really shit results in pre season, but it doesn't mean they are going to do crap in the upcoming season.

Do you really think booing your players before the season starts really gets them in the mood to play? it's stupid and counter productive.

We didn't lose, we drew two games, two preseason games.

Just sad to hear about the boos, especially with Henry coming back etc.

Preseason matches are not important...real fans don't boo their own team (remember what they did with Eboué, who is a decent squad player). Those fans are glory hunters who will soon support Man City...no big loss for Arsenal.

I've read a rumout that Chamakh would go to Roma...IMO that would be a loss for Arsenal...hope it isn't true.

Importance of pre-season results: Spurs in 2008 = WWDWWWWW - season starts - LLDLDLLL. Chelsea in 2010 = WLLLL - season starts - WWWWW

Booing in pre-season? :LMAO: :FAIL:

In saying that, I reckon if some of the fans in the Liverpool thread went to the pre-season games then they'd boo as well.

This generation of fans are shocking really, instant success or we want you out.

Getting rid of Chamakh now would be stupid, I think he still has alot to offer us.

I think it's just speculation, maybe the same fans that boo the team are the same ones that are saying Chamakh is rubbish? who knows? and then the press pick up on it and because they have nothing better to write they write this stuff.

Anyway it would be silly to sell him now.

Good post, just highlights how stupid it all is.

But I do understand why it is happening the fans are frustrated and rightly so, but they have to use their brains.

:CONFUSE: even though Arsenal`s preseason was alright WDDWDD .

Anyways, I don`t know what players are really leaving Bendtner, Eboue, Carlos,Alumina all are mega buck contracts according to ANR. Clubs are in shocked at their wages no wonder they haven`t left as of yet. I`m sure there on ♣£50k - £65k .

I doubt they are mega buck contracts (depending on what you are ocmparing it to?)

Those players, Almunia was our no 1 keeper for a while, so not really a suprise he might be on good wages until his contract runs out. Bendtner whatever you say about him had a decent scoring record for us seeing how young he was and so maybe got a better contract out of that with the potential he was showing (I still think he will turn out to be a really good player)

Looks like Vela is staying? he seems to be getting played quite a bit during pre season and Eboue I can't see being on mega bucks being a squad player.

People get annoyed that situations like Nasri happen, but the only way to stop things like that happening is giving your young players that are showing great potential much better and longer contracts so they stay with you or at least if they get sold you get money for them.

So Arsenal are really damned if they do and damned if they don't at the moment. You can take anything any club does and twist it into something they are doing wrong.

People are going to have to cut them slack otherwise this season is going to be full of petty slagging off of Arsenal. We are going to lose games and everytime we do it is going to be the end of the world! It is really going to grow tiresome.

Whatever happens before the season starts we need to be behind the team, otherwise we really are going to have some problems. All of this negativity isn't going to do anybody any good.

(This wasn't against you Bebo :)) just having a little general rant)

Exactly, we're 2 weeks from season start and we don't know who leaves, who stays... not only the likes of Bendtner and Eboué, but the pivotal figures Cesc and Nasri as well.
Fans have every reason to be angry. Not that booing pre-season friendlies is right, but it was our shot on winning silverware! :P
No, seriously, that's just fans' patience running thin because of everything: our issues off field and on the field: the same old mistakes at the back, too much innocuous possession (not enough chances created)... it's too frustrating.

This is the season that I've been the least eager to watch, since I can remember :(

Well, I heard or read a while back that Nasri wanted to sort out his contract last October. So, he waited to talk and nothing was done apparently this has happen to Tevez w/ mutd supposedly. Whether it`s true or not I don`t know it doesn`t sound good and makes me feel like he is doing us the favor of sweating too!

I really can't believe that is true, why would Arsenal wait to give him a contract? it makes no sense at all, if clubs can, they wrap these things up asap to stop exactly what is happening at the moment.

Although we haven't won anything in the last 6 years it doesn't mean we have suddenly turned stupid and are dumb arses.

Arsenal is a very well run business that generates millions upon millions of pounds with very passionate and experienced business people involved.

If you want to buy people in a proper way, then you negotiate, this means that it is not just Arsenal involved, there are lots of factor to think about.

Yes we could just say to Everton heres 25million for Jagielka and we might have got him sooner, but we are not Liverpool or Man United, Man City or Chelsea, they obviously have more money to play with. We are doing it the old way where you negotiate and try and get the best deal you can, which is totally acceptable.

Yes it is frustrating but selling and buying players, there are two clubs involved. People here are suggesting Arsene etc are just twiddling there thumbs if you think that then you are all being ridiculous. They expect if Arsene wants a target he clicks his fingers and then they are signed for Arsenal, it just doesn't happen this way.

I understand the supporters frustration, but I really think this frustration is clouding peoples judgements and it really is only going to have an adverse effect on Arsenal football club.

frustration always clouds the waters no doubt. Another bit is missing out on Mata, to some weird contract midnight clause that ended from £17m to now £29m :COAT: . Mata was desperate to join and now seem like he is staying , but who knows in the end what this means maybe Wenger pulled the plug to sign Luk he demands 1st team action so being in the dark isalways guessing . I only hold on to Wengers words back in June. We wont see anything take shape until the end of July n 1st week of August.

I haven't heard anything about this clause? what does it mean?

Seems weird that a players price will go up after a certain point?

I heard about a player (can't remember who now?) but they were waiting to buy him until after the 1st August, as this is when his previous clubs sell on clause gets erased. But I can't think of how Matas price would increase from one day to the next like that?

People are getting annoyed at things that may be happening but probably not happening and that is where things are getting silly. These are all rumours that seem to be getting a full stamp of 'truth' to them? when maybe they shouldn't?

The Mata situation would be very dissapointing if he didn't come. I think Cesc will be resolved this week either way, as Arsenal have to stick with their deadline on whether Barca offer us the right amount of money.

Alot will happen in the next couple of weeks, especially if Fab goes.

This week is very telling Fab leaves ,Nasri stays and 3 more signing by the end of the week. Will do me find let wait and see :SMUG:

it`s been 6years mate six loong years last time we won something I was in my 20`s  Im 30 something now !!! anymore patient and I`ll bring growing tomatoes in Kent :P (quote from chairman )

This is still one of the major reasons I still support this club. Everyone should try to live within their means, especially in such hard economic times.

think of all of the teams, the majority that haven't won anything for 20years much longer even or haven't even won any major trophy at all?

this is why I keep saying we have no right at all to win anything, there are 20 teams in the prem, god knows how many fighting for the 3 other cup competitions.

We had a great period, but now we are rebuilding. We invested alot into our future over that 6 years and we are at the beginning of seeing it pay off. hopefully we win something this season, but I won't be expecting it there are alot of great teams out there now.

I just hope the team shows consistancy and plays the way I know they can, then I will be happy. But I won't be calling for Wenger to be sacked just because we don't win anything next season. I will think it is time for him to go if the same sort of failings happen again though, but that is a different matter.

I do believe we need to push our team so they don't rest on their laurels, but I also think we should remember how lucky we are to support a team like Arsenal that play in the top competitions in the world year after year, that is not to be sniffed at.

I can't remember where I read it, but in an article called "building a modern super-club" or something along those lines, Arsenal is somewhere at stage 3 of 3 in development. The first step involved defining Arsenal's football philosophy (I'll never stop thanking Wenger for this). Second was the move to the Emirates. The wait is almost over guys, I'll be patiently waiting for our labors to bear fruit. I take all the losses in stride because I know good times are coming.

Yeap, but while this is all very admirable... Conversely, what Arsenal does is offering Everton £2m less than a previous unsuccesful bid. This is mindboggling really. I still don't know if we're being reasonable buyers anymore... more like cheap fuckers, eh?

Given the urgency of the situation, especially with Squila's and Djourou's cock ups this weekend, I'd expect Arsenal to seal the deal at a more realistic figure around £16m. At least let's get close to what they're asking, FFS!

It was a starting offer, most of these start low to test the water, I really don't see why people are getting so crazy about it?! it's not mindboggling at all. I still don't think we are being cheap fuckers just that prices are ridiculous. Jagielka is a good defender, but has no Champions league experience and a handful of international appearances and hasn't won much either?

The last I heard we were going to up our bid to 15million?

The thing with Arsenal now, everytime the defenders do anything wrong there will be calls for a change. What if Jagielka makes a mistake in his first game for Arsenal? (If he signs) will he suddenly be shit?

I think we have decent defensive options, our team need to be more defensive minded. I think everybody is jumping on the bandwagon and just want us to buy players. I don't think it is necessarily the answer, but I know I am in a minority.

I didn't know that. Surely 2m is not that much considering how much Arsene spends on younger players. I'm surprised that it's 2m that is holding back the transfer from taking place.

The problems in defense are a symptom of a bigger problem. Even Martin Keown has basically repeated what jonney mentioned in this thread months ago:

http://arseblog.com/2011/07/some-good-some-bad-same-as-it-ever-was/

Unlike his hyperbolic pundit colleague and the bumbling, hysterical Ray Stubbs, he talked knowledgeably and sensibly about defending and Arsenal’s issues. He said simply making a signing won’t solve the problems when there’s more to it than that. Of course better defenders would help but there were basic problems yesterday in terms of organisation and reading of the game. Knowing when to drop off to prevent the simple ball over the top being so effective, ensuring the large gap between defence and midfield doesn’t exist therefore allowing space and time to the opposition in a dangerous area of the pitch, these things and more were a worry.

And it was good to hear someone talk about these problems without resorting to the tired suggestion that just have to go out and buy two world class centre backs to fix it. I mean, if it was that easy there’d be a queue of managers outside the ‘World Class Centre-Back Emporium’ each weekend, wouldn’t there?

that is true, I know you been a fan much longer than I and being a local your views may have a bit more resolute. I was a fan during the Wenger years and wasn`t so impress with Graham`s era although he was clever and won amazing titles and such, maybe too clever with kickback and whatnot.

I wouldn`t know how to feel about another gaffer with all that he has done for the club. He is lacking titles only! I`m just not too sure with the future in the squad he is producing of late. I really though in `06 the invisible wouldn`t be impossible again. I didnt think Chelsea would stay a force either or saw the shieks coming in so it`s not easy to predict the future. We can see more billionaires coming in and make Fulham the next mercenaries club.

So, I feel as a foreigner "fan" my ties to the club was a marriage or like Jesus dying for Jews n gentiles(salvation)...I can`t go back I will support Arsenal even if they crumble tomorrow. My son supports liverpool since he was 8yrs old Don`t ask and he will be a fan till the end.

So I can rant fickleness all day ,but at the end of the day. It`s just releasing hot air.
