Arsenal Thread

Yes this is exactly the line up I would like to see, lets take the game to them.

However, if Wenger wants to play it 4-5-1 that was so successful against Madrid he could do this:

Lehmann
Eboue Toure Senderos Flamini
Hleb Gilberto Fabulous Diaby Reyes
Henry

Personally I feel Juve will invite us onto them and will be looking to counter.

Absolutely. My biggest fear is that Juve will look to give us lots of possession, stifle the game and nick it one nil from a set piece. Emerson is the master of tactical fouls and we know Paddy will be up for it, so it will be congested in midfield.

One positive is that Juve do have hot and cold players in the side. Nedved and Del Piero have been their most consistent attacking force, and both miss the 1st leg. Ibrahimovic, Camoranesi and Vieria are brilliant one week, sloppy the next. On an off day we'll get plenty of change out of them. If they're all firing, we're in trouble.

I can't see Reyes having much fun vs Zambrotta if he's at right back. Maybe switch Hleb? Cannavaro will have a field day winding up hot headed Van Persie, but he was absolutely no where near Henry on THAT night in the San Siro when he was at Inter.

Overall it will be tight and technical tonight. I just hope the kids have got enough about them to not just pile forwards and hope for the best.

I can't wait!! Come on Arsenal! This is a tough test, tougher than Madrid. But I think we can do it - I'm very excited. A clean sheet at home would be nice.

I have a feeling someone else from the Arsenal team will get all the praise tonight instead of Henry. Hopefully Reyes and Van Persie Excel.

Come on you reds!! (Redcurrents!!)

I know I'd take it. I know people go on about this home advantage but its only when you're away that you can get goals with higher priority (away goals).

Totally agree with you guys. If you go away from home and draw 0-0 you're shitting yourself for the whole of the return leg thinking what if they score!

I've just watched the goals from the 3-1 a few years back on Arsenal TV and completely forgot how good not only the pass to Freddie for the third goal was but also the skill in mugging the 2 Juve defenders!

I think Cannavaro got injured in that game, so yes he wasn't near Henry.
The key isn't to stop Henry, the key is to stop the ball getting to Henry. Not that i'm implying that Henry is the only dangerous factor Arsenal has.

I know 0-0 isn't a bad result but then you're going to have to beat Juve in their own back yard or achieve a score draw which is going to be difficult. Arsenal have to go out tonight guns blazing like Liverpool did and try to play with a high-tempo, don't let Juventus control the game and if you can take a lead to Turin then Juve are going to have to attack more which leaves them vulnerable on the counter which would suit Arsenal just fine.

But its true. ;)

Good luck to both teams though. This one can go either way imo.

:D:D:D:D

What a performance, i would have liked a 3rd though.

Still, best performance for us this season, another clean sheet and we made them look very ordinary.

Well played Arsenal, Juve are lucky that the score is only 2-0. Poor show by Juve , I expected both good play and fair play.

Dear oh dear, Juve being cocky and arrogant again. Theyve been doing this for the last few months, thinking that if they just sit and wait, they will score many goals. Too bad they rejected the 35m offer from Real for Ibrahimovic...bargain.

GET IN THERE BOYS!!!!!!!!

Everyone played their bollocks off and what a result, Fabregas is one THE BEST midfielders in world football at the moment and a usual Thierry played fantastic.

Big praise hasto go out to the back 4, Flamini was outstanding and Eboue must be the find of the season, only made his debut 6 weeks ago!?!?!

Thought Juve were really disappointing but they never had the chance to play and we deserve plenty of credit for that.

It also completes the first half of my £5 double at 7-1 of Arsenal Half timeFull time and Lyon tomorrow.

Great job Gunners. We have equalled AC Milan's record of seven consecutive games with clean sheets in the Champions league, plus we are a couple of minutes (8 if my calculations are right) from destroying Ajax's record of 599 minutes without conceding a goal in the Champions league. Added to Gilberto's record for the quickest Champions League goal ever, we are certainly looking to stamp our name on the record books. Now that trophy looks even more juicy and attainable. Slurp.

We are. Shameful performance. Congratulations to the arsenal fans, the returnleg will be just be a formality. Juventus were dissapointing on so many levels, both technically and mentally.

Jesus christ. So close to the final now, playing Villareal or Inter (the 2 weakest teams left) in the semis.

Let's just hope we win the CL and end 5th in the league after Tottenham!

On a more serious note. It's incredible how well the CL campaign is running in the first sucky league seasons since last decade.

Well you could try getting 4th place but I guess finishing 5th and winning the CL would be a good way to piss off the spurs fans. lol
