Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

Yes!! we know...words from R.Madrid defence http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-2006080613,00.html

AOO!

Gunner El Hero

THIERRY HENRY was hailed as a Galactico by the Spanish media after his wonder goal sunk Real Madrid.

Diario AS declared on its front page: “Henry was the Galactico of the night when Ronaldo could not be seen.”

And in a message to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, Spain’s leading daily sports paper Marca heaped more praise on Henry by declaring: “Florentino, sign him!”

Leave Henry alone World,he belongs to us

The whole world saw this coming. Madrid do it all the time. You only need to convince them with one little bit of skill or magic and they'll be after you like dogs.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

ARSENAL have learned they are NOT the first English club to beat Real Madrid in their own backyard.

Tiny Lancashire outfit Nelson FC beat Real 4-2 in Madrid on a four-game tour to Spain in May 1923.

Nelson chairman Alan Pickering revealed: “We won 4-2 and it is in Real Madrid’s official history.”

ah well, a wins a win anyways =)

Well done goons!!

You's absolutely played them off the park for the majority of the game....

Reyes, Hleb, Gilberto, Ljunberg, Toure, Eboue and the excellent Cesc all played well and you's could have scored at least two or three....

If you's had played like that away from home all season you wouldnt have a problem (although Madrid we're pretty poor)...

Anyway well done!

Cheers Vann, what a lovely post, it nearly bought a tear to my eye ;)

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

I've just seen this quote on Football 365 from Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck.

"It's a funny word to use. But I think we deserve a European championship"

What a nob, wih a man like that in charge no wonder they're losing so much money. Nobody DESERVES a European championship, they aren't dished out every time you spend £300 million.

I would put this in the Chelsea thread but I imagine they're a bit cranky this morning and I don't want to provoke them further ;)

EDIT:

I've just seen this as well from RVP, how funny but it shows he's growing up!

"I scored a goal that was disallowed [for offside] but it was a 100% goal and I was disappointed. When they scored their second at that moment, I felt very frustrated. I was thinking, 'If the ball is between me and another player, I will make the tackle very hard'. But then I thought, 'Don’t do that'. I was on a yellow card already and a red card would have made things more difficult. 'Take it easy, just play, that's the only way you can get Chelsea back', I thought. A year before I’d have made the bad tackle"

What is the percent in refusing there offer(%) with players in the past.I heard that David B. wife and Henry`s wife are close friends. That really troubling to hear.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

i think you forget how Henry has always said he is happy in London so the lifestyle is fine, the moneys good, its just one issue and that is does he think the team here is good enough?

You could clearly see in his interview the one thing he was more impressed by was the fact as a team we played much better than usual, just look over on sky sports web they have his interview with some mag, he talks about team more than individual, and hes right Arsenal were at thier best when they played team football, where everyone was passing and moving over the pitch.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

let's look at the challenge at hand, we need to beat blackburn. it's so typically a game i see us losing, just when we're on a high we get knocked down to earth. i hope we're not complaicent and carry that performance through.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

We have a more continental style of football thats why we were so affective against Madrid. Blackburn are a whole new story and I don't think we have the muscle to deal with them physically. they also will not let us have the time on the ball we enjoyed at the Bernabeu.

It is going to be tough but we need to win it and all our other games - if we want to finish 4th.

Hopefully the Win against Madrid will give us the confidence and make us realise that when we play to our strengths we are a great team.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

Gawd, I hope this new wave of optimism doesn't come crashing down horribly.

Blackburn are the kind of team you can see us capitulate 1-0 to by being muscled off the ball. There's no way we'll get anywhere near as much space as we did vs Real. I just hope the team can keep their heads and not get frustrated by the physicality of Blackburn's game.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

Cesc will play for the A team of Spain for the first time next week against Ivory coast. :applause:

It's all so painfully predictable...

Au revoir Thierry :(

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

hey, ninja... load of time on your hands.. nice to see you got a use for left hand as well.. :D

another loss... boy its going to be hard to get that 4th spot now... it's looking dire.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

I know theres a few games left in the season but if all the results go against you lot, you could be down to 8th once West Ham and Bolton have played their games in hand (regarding they win)

8th place, is that even good enough for the UEFA Cup ?

Theres always the Intertoto

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Real Madrid 0 - 1 Arsenal

fully expected us to lose today, so predictable. i predicted a a draw at the start of the week but as soon as we beat madrid i knew we'd lose.
