Arsenal Thread

We're in the process of rejuvenating our team. We already have Paloschi, Pato, Marzoratti and Borriello (probably) coming through. Its not like Juve are any younger! Nedved, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Grygera etc!

Anyway, hes left one big club for another. We'll never know why he really left so lets leave it there. But I personally think he wanted a new challenge and also Italy is more similar to France... and of course the money.

Kranjcar to replace Flamini? no way, i could see him taking Hlebs place but not Flamini. I think next seasonn it will be Cesc---Silva in the middle. he'll bring in a Hleb replacement. and a goalkeeper and a CB.

Ben Arfa could take Hleb's place and now theres Walcott also who can do that, infact hes been really performing well these last 3 matches since Hleb got a ban. Even Diaby plays as a winger. So we have enough of them. So cant say anything about Kranjcar, where hes going to play.

I'd like to see Walcott feature more next season. England need a pacy young forward just as much as Arsenal.

Walcott will be upfront next season, may start from the bench again you actually only really need 2 or 3 but again the squad would still be smallish.

'I think we are signing fantastic young players but not spending big, big money. I think that is massive difference between Arsenal and us. They have spent big money on young players for a long time.

We are signing players that sometimes you only have to pay compensation for, so we are trying to do our best not to spend too much money. If I told you some of the figures we have paid for certain players and what other clubs are paying you'd be surprised.' Said Doughnut.
This guy is either saving his job or completing off the reservation Hey! if you want you can spend 1.5million on a 18yr old ,but you rather wait til their 20 and spend 15 million ...stop grasping at straws have a danish and a smile your 30 million prospect striker is 2nd top scorer. Good coach by the way

Well I dont see kids in their team much. And even if there are, our Kids are better than them anyday. They dont spend money on kids but spend it on other players WAY TOO MUCH!!!

Doughnut Specialist, touche. Got to be careful you lot ;)

Anyways, the title is so misleading. Haven't you guys learned how the English press can manipulate quotes.

I am not unhappy about Flamini leaving, tbh he's had 1 great season at CM, thats it. Before that he looked distinctly average IMHO.

If its true Hleb wants to go then thats fine by me too. He only got 4 goals last season, his last goal was in October!! Thats not enough end product for an attacking midfielder in our team.

I have it on good authority that a signing is imminent just don't know who it is. Is it Gomez? Is it Ben Arfa? Is it Keita? Is it someone no-one has ever heard of? Probably the latter...

your right .... He said it meaning about keeping his young players(reserve team) after they won the FA Cup. How they leave for other clubs whether it`s for pay or 1st team football opportunities...Well that`s where my research ended thanks for pointing things out ( very cheap and easy to put a few quotes in and wanting readers to run w/ it..I was taken for the ride :anx: )

Edit: I take back my comments about Rafa :)

Wenger - I hope to make signing within weeks

Arsène Wenger intends to start moulding his squad for next season straight away and is looking to bring in a new signing "in the next two or three weeks".

Arsenal ended their season on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Sunderland. It left them on 83 points, some 15 more than last season but still four adrift of champions Manchester United.

Wenger is adamant there is little wrong with his side and talks of making only "one or two" signings this summer. His intention is to seal the first deal sooner rather than later.

“I know what I want and I am very confident," he said. "I hope to turn that around in the next two or three weeks. But the fans should be re-assured by what they see."

Wenger's two major acquisitions last summer, Bacary Sagna and Eduardo, were new to English football. This time around, it seems he'd like someone who has already acclimatised.

“It would be better to buy someone who has played in England because they are less risky," said the manager. "But it costs more money if they are from the Premier League, so maybe I will try to do both."

Niko Kranjcar?

Toure admits Gunners lure

Speaking exclusively to skysports.com, Yaya Toure has admitted he would love to play alongside his brother Kolo at Arsenal.

The Gunners are being strongly linked with a move for the Barcelona midfielder - who could be surplus to requirements next year with Pep Guardiola taking over from Frank Rijkaard.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is no stranger to the younger Toure - indeed he spent time on trial at the club in 2002 but a deal was not struck and The Gunners' then Belgian feeder club Beveren sold him to Ukraine outfit Metalurg Donetsk.

Toure, 25, has since moved up and up through his career with Olympiakos, Monaco and now Barca.

A move to link-up with brother Kolo - who is a huge fan of his younger sibling - has always been mooted and now it appears a deal could be on the cards.

With Mathieu Flamini leaving the club and doubts arising over Alexander Hleb - Wenger needs quality midfield reinforcements and Toure junior could be the man.

English desire

And the player himself admits he would jump at the chance to move to Emirates Stadium.

"I am aware of the interest from the Premier League," he told skysports.com.

"But I can't say anything yet - however it would be great to play in a big team with my brother, it would be fantastic but you never know."

Toure admits it has been a difficult first season in Catalunya - with Barca failing to win any silverware.

"Our season was very difficult and for us it is very painful - we are winners and it is difficult," he continued.

"We have so many great players, we don't understand how we are so far behind Real Madrid.

"I want to let the fans know how much we care about this great team, it is the dream of all the players to wear the blaugrana shirt."

Guardiola is due to succeed Rijkaard in the summer and Spanish reports claim that this could be bad news for Toure - but he admits to being a fan of the Barca legend.

"He was one of my favourite players," he enthused.

"He is a playmaker in front of the defence, he plays football like it should be played - I loved watching him when I was in the academy learning my trade."

Interesting thoughts for the DMF, but all speculation at the mo'

Kranjcar has always seemed a bit light weight to me but who knows, he is certainly up to speed in the PL.

I doubt we will buy Toure, we have turned down signing him twice, once when he was at Beveren (he was on trial with us) and then again last summer when he left Monaco.

Hleb's agent says that Hleb doesn't like the noisy and chaotic London life anymore, which is why he wants to leave. Well then, Milanista can you tell us how is Milan life?? Is it quite and peaceful??

I guess he could play for Inter, but live in Como or Bellagio... that would be peaceful.

He's really become a tit in the close season. Hectic life has got to be one of the worst reasons i've ever heard of. I have no idea how we end up with cunts like this.

I think thats a bit stupid! To say London is chaotic when Milan is also Chaotic. Both are big cities. He could live outside like Iceman said but he could do the same in London too.

If Arsenal is going to sign a few they probably want to do it before Euro ...a selling price tag can grow within a match

Flamini's successor could well be Kompany.
There is a rumour over here and in Germany that Kompany is talking with Arsenal.
In Hamburg Kompany played DMF...

Hleb should probably leave!! In the begginning i did not want him to leave but now i think hes getting too much of an attitude with all these "noise" things and other excuses. Tomorrow he might say, hes wife doesnt like London and so on. We will probably get someone better!! Ben Arfa is already in talks!!

reminds me when Henry stayed after supposedly leaving , I too think it`s important to be committed and not I can`t afford to pay 2 years on my contract. So if he stays he needs to win us over till then
