Arsenal Thread

walcott is over-rated for his ability in arsenal, 29 apps and 0 goals for a winger/striker ... pato on the other hand same age, debut and a goal already now thats promising!

Some people develop quicker than others - I've heard reviews about Pato and he sounds like the next best thing. Rooney and Ronaldo developed quite quickly - but it doesn't mean all players will do that quickly.

Nobody at Arsenal is over rating him - the press maybe. But I saw him come on twice as a sub last season when I went to the Emirates and he looked fantastic!

If he can bulk up and improve - then he can be an amazing player.

Sven taking him to the world cup has been a bit of a negative - as people wanted him to prove why he was there. But he shouldn't have been there and he never said he should have been himself.

Anyway - lets just wait and see. I think over the next couple of seasons he will get better and better. Maybe like plan M said he needs a loan for half a season or even a full one just to get back to playing regular again.

yes and im sure that'll happen in some other team and not in arsenal yet, i don't really think that walcot will have that improvement in arsenal a loan sounds like a better plan for the next 1-2 seasons.

Funny thing is Arsène already said he was gonna play Walcott in the middle (arsenal.com), but then Eduardo and Bendtner start playing good football.

Plus, that shows Arsenal needs a winger... we have Hleb and Rosicky as proven, Diaby and Eboué are inconsistent, and the last very stupid too.

I'm with you Bobby, he'll be class in a few years. I've seen him a few times for the under 21's and he played brilliantly, he has some of the same qualities as Henry. Give him a chance, he's not grown up yet.

And YoungGun, your comment about top 4 team is hardly valid anyway as the frequency of movement of players between the top 4 is so low due to the rivalry.

:-s When did i say something about the top 4 teams selling players to each other ?

Nice thread lads , a bit of colour looks well on white , is this walcott as good as they say , i aint seen much of him to be honest but what i have seen didnt blow me away , i just noticed he was like speedy gonzalez.

To be honest Blue4life you got him down already - he is quick and that's about it from what I've seen of him. When we first signed Ronaldo he needed to mature but we could tell that he wasn't just quick - he was full of tricks, could play anywhere up-front and on the wings and even had an eye for a goal back then.

Pompey clinch Diarra signing

I am a bit gutted he has gone cos he is a quality player imo. With Gilberto on the wane and Flamini's deal expiring in the summer we could suddenly find ourselves very short in the area.

However it speaks volumes for the player that after 4 months with us he has given up fighting for a place in the side and has forced a move away, so in that context could we really be able to rely on him on the pitch when there is a battle? Good ridance I say.

Exactly - He is not for us. I hope he plays really badley and then Pompey don't choose him either. Then he will be completely fucked!

But it is a dissapointment he didn't stay and wasn't such a fucking prick - he is a good player.

I thought he had a virus. That's what it said on bbc sport?

Van Persie to continue rehabilitation in Holland
By Richard Clarke

Robin van Persie will return to the Netherlands in his bid to recover from a troublesome thigh injury.

The Dutch striker is having an unlucky season. A knee problem kept him sidelined from mid-October to mid-December. After a couple of games, he picked up his current injury. He returned for the Carling Cup Semi-Final against Tottenham 10 days ago but lasted only 45 minutes. Arsène Wenger now regrets recalling the 24-year-old so early and that is why, on this occasion, he’ll be allowing Van Persie to take his time.

“He has played only eight Premier League games this season,” said Wenger at Friday’s pre-match press conference. “But we do not think this will be a long-term problem.

“Maybe we made a mistake to play him in the Carling Cup. We wanted to rush him a little bit back after the muscular problems and were not cautious enough.

“When a player has waited for so long and is ready to play you are under pressure a bit from him as well because he feels he can play. But at the end of the day, I do not feel we made the right decision to play him on the night.”

Van Persie will spend the rest of the month back home and it is likely to be well into February before he’ll be back on first team duty.

“Robin will be out for two to three weeks,” said Wenger. “He is going to Holland as part of the treatment and rehabilitation.

“A football club is not a hospital. It is made for players who play, not for those who cannot play or are sick.

“It is very depressing for them to come in every day and see their partners going out and playing, when he cannot. Sometimes it is better to get them away for 10 days where they have a completely different environment. It makes them feel better.”

van persie is a great player, he is unlucky with these injuries but im sure he will have his chance to play a full season
