Arsenal Thread

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Not much talk of Adebayor getting pasted to the ground twice in the final moments of the game by the last defender on both occasions, the 2nd time took the biscuit, should have been a straight red, should have been an automatic goal if I wrote the rules. Anyways, a draw was a fair result, Newcastle played their arses off and Arsenal were lucky to get out of it with a point in the end. Its tough at the top, 4 points ain't a lot but at this point I'll take 4 points ahead instead of 4 points behind. On our GK issue I think we should sent Almunia AND Lehmann packing, neither one of them has my 100% backing as an Arsenal Goalkeeper at this point. Almunia has done well in all honesty but there's just something missing, maybe its a command/authority thing, I don't think he has that. Also, Eduardo, I wonder how much longer its going to take this guy to "settle in", he looked lost against Newcastle, what's the concensus? Wenger hasn't let us down before and I trust his judgement so I guess we await with bated breath and time will tell.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

I think Eduardo will come good - but it might not be until next season. Van the Man will be back soon though anyway.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

I think Eduardo has been ok. The goals haven't flowed yet but you can see he is a team player with a great work ethic. When he has had the chance to finish he has with aplomb. How many chances has he missed? Exactly, hardly any cos he hasn't had many chances! I think he is a great finisher and will come good.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

He's been played out of position to be honest. He needs to play straight through the middle like he did in Zagreb or Croatia, but he plays out left.

He'll come good.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Has Ade ever sent a ball to a player I can`t remember... his passing ability is shocking , but then again he is top league scorer that just reminds me how good Robin is

I really like Diarra man. Id like to see what he can do playing alongside the great Cesc Fabregas

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

What do you think is Fabregas's best attribute on the pitch? I'm having a hard time putting my finger on it? Is it passing, shooting, finesse? What about his strength, he doesn't seem to be that built compared to most central midfielders, so he must excel in certain areas seeing as he's considered as one of the best in the world. I know he's a great all round player and this is a bit of a stupid question but I just wanted to know out of interest what people thought is his BEST attribute above everyone else.

Passing, he can put it on a sixpence anywhere he wants on the pitch.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

I think it's his mental strength. He gives his all and is 100% alert. Awareness as a previous poster put.

Cesc is exceedingly confident and I think that's why he has come this far. You won't see some other 17yr old risk hitting a long ball over the top to a forward player for example. Fabregas spots players and makes that early pass which is very lethal if pulled off. He's always looking to squeeze it through the tight areas.

Fabregas isn't afraid. He can handle anything an anyone. It's all about confidence I think

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Even Liverpool could hammer Newcastle 3-0. The wheels on the Arsenal bus are starting to look dodgy . . .

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

The 'Boro fans are wankers. The Riverside is always half-empty. If Arsenal were playing where I live I would be there in flash.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

:( why can't Middlesbrough play this good against other teams...

no win for 3 months and then comes Arsenal and they do the best game of the decade

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Hats off to Boro, they fully deserve their win, they played their asses off. Worrying to see this kind of performance from Arsenal. When we are flowing we are flowing but it seems 1-dimensional in the sense that when opposing teams show that they are fired up we have no way of changing our game to match that intensity. I would have liked to have seen a bit more grit from the Arsenal players in the second half, clearly their regular game wasn't working and I think they should have started relying on their luck a little more, getting the ball up quicker to the tall physical bodies of Bendtner and Adebayor and see what kind of bounces we get for our midfielders to run on to, instead we were trying to get the ball down and finecomb our way in for a goal down 2 goals and 15 minutes left to play. Eboue shouldn't have been on the pitch after his elbow early in the second half. It was an absolute disgrace the way he lashed out, reminded me of a little tantrum on a playground by a hot tempered child. Should have been a straight red, instead its a free kick, where was the ref and where were the linesmen looking??? Must have been playing with their penises all of them. He also should have been booked for bringing down the studs on Downing I believe it was in the second half. Not sure about the penalty decision, looked soft enough now in all honesty. Almunia saved well then didn't stand tall enough for the second Boro goal. He needs to go, so does Jens, send both of them to Wolfsburg. Congrats to Boro, lets get focussed Arsenal, long way to go in this exciting season.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

The two games we had to win we draw and lose - now we have Chelsea and Spurs - God I hope Fab, Hleb and Flamini and for that matter Van Persie are back for those games!!!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Well done to Boro, we were shite though.

With Bolton beating United last month and now this it shows that the PL is in fact a competitive league.

Its a disappointing today but lets put everything into perspective:

* No-one fancied us to be top or even 4th at the start of the season.
* We are currently missing 3 of our most important players and are still top of the league with nearly half the season gone.
* All Arsenal fans would have taken a 1 point lead at the top going into the Chelsea game next week if offered it at the start of the season.
* The title race is going to be very exciting all the way to the end of the season which has to be good for the game as a whole.

Merry Christmas Gooners it could be worse!! ;)

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Still top!

Emanuel Eboue is a little cheatin bastard! how he got away with the push in the face and the studs on Downing I will never know... especially as the 1st one was right in the face of the Ref!... Yet when Liam Miller was provoked and pushed Pizarro (for a good reason if you ask me) he gets sent off?

Anyway Boro have a habit of doing this, playing shit for most of the season and then come Arsenal or United and they pull of the result of the season! Makes the title race more interesting now though!
