Arsenal Thread

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

Thought it was pretty even for most of the match. Arsenal may had had the more possesion (although it was 50/50 near the end of the first half from the pop-up) but they didnt actually create that much. One run out from reina after a good move on the wing but he didnt actually need to make a save.

And for the second half I thought liverpool were looking the more dangerous for about half of it. After alonso went off and arbeloa came on you could see arsenal get more space in midfield and the liverpool defense back off more and more. The main reason arsenal got the goal, 3 players were within 2m of hleb and not one put a tackle in. A bit like last seasons rosicky goal. Before the goal the only meaningfull effort was eboue's shot off the post and the resulting miss from fabregas.

Then at 1-1 and with liverpool trying to push up to create something arsenal's better fitness and good passing could have scored a second to wint he match as it was looking more likely at that point then liverpool getting anything.

Fair result in the end, but Liverpool still look out of sorts and very laboured. They need to get their form back.

I expect Manu to win next week, they can do the physical game which liverool did today, which puts arsenal off their game, however unlike liverpool, they can actually punish passing mistakes with quick incisive attacking play and can play further up field as they dont have two oiltankers in defense.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

good game today, Liverpool clearly came with the gameplan of trying to score early and hold on til the end , they nearly acheived it but to be honest their football was shockingly poor at times, reminded me of Chelsea who are now improving. anyway Arsenal really controlled the game but cause of the early goal by Liverpool, Arsenal may have been slightly more catious of conceeding a second (even though liverpool couldnt get out of their own half). second hald liverpool started it like the first trying to nick another goal and maybe then sit back but didnt, was more of a even half but once Alonso came off that helped Arsenal immensely and ended up scoring a somewhat lucky goal but a deserved goal, i think it was a fair result even better it was the best result for us also :P and where looking on great form heading into next saturdays game, Tevez and Rooney are both on form , should be a good open game but im somewhat confident heading into it yet am admittingly a bit worried about Arsenal's slick passing movement that can tear teams apart even though we can do the same :P

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

Liverpool should be happier with the point.

They scored early via a set-piece and then played with 10 men behind the ball for much of the half. Their football was awful at times, mainly playing long balls. In the second half Liverpool were more ambitious, they had a few counter attacks followed with a few long range attempts, bt no clear cut chances.

Arsenal dominated possesion and should of scored more, striking the post twice and then missing TWO open goals.

Overall Liverpool played like they were the away team they got a goal and tried to shut up shop.

This is a team that many were tipping for the League.

thought you lot played well yesterday, did better than you did last season lol, just shows how far you lot have come since last season, or it could be liverpool going the other way, looking forward to saturday, hopefully we can end your unbeaten run, but its gonna be tough

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

that goal would of made him the hero... Where`s Eduardo? and would the real Ade! stand up please a bit of a drought for the lead scorer

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

I think someone needs to tell Adebayor that theres an offside rule lol

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

I can see a 2-2 draw written all over Saturday, probably gonna be a sloppy game with both teams "respecting" each other. 2-2 is likely but perhaps Lehmann will come on for Almunia in the dying moments and go up and grab a winner to prove his worth to the team. Probable scorers Rooney and Ronaldo and for Arsenal 2 from Fabregas.

It was booze and women that contributed to the ruin of George Best…

Fabregas has lesser demons to overcome apparently…

"Sometimes on a day off I go to the Krispy Kreme doughnut shop. When we play at home, I go there after the game and it's like a doughnut party! Everyone is eating doughnuts inside their cars - it's like a disco!"

Cesc Fabregas reveals his Homer Simpson fitness philosophy to the Sun... and it seems to be working.

He is easily pleased isn't he. What sort of Discos does he go to?! I'm glad he is playing for us - I wouldn't want him to be my friend though. Unless he gave me lots of his money :)

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

Ditto. :) Hope we don't cancel each other out because I'd like it to be an open, exciting, end to end game.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

I have a bad feeling that if anyone's gonna go in with the idea of sitting back and soaking in the attack, its gonna be us.
I hope we really have a go cuz we know Arsenal definately will. Its the only thing they know and they know it pretty well. But we've shown in the past that we are willing to "park the bus".

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

I dunno, I can see it being a beautiful to watch, end to end thriller.

Then again, two beautiful to watch teams often cancel each other out.

i would have said that a few seasons ago but with Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, etc these players dont sit back unless we have the lead and get tactical orders to, i can see the first goal being crucial i hope we dont score 1 and then sitback like last year..

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

I'm not saying we have the player to sit back. I'm saying Sir Alex might give the orders to do that.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - 7th Heaven

First half, 1-0 to United, holy crap, what the hell was that? Arsenal dominate, fail to score and let a crappy goal in the last moments of the half. The Emirates is like a MORGUE, where is the passion from the fans???? At this rate we don't deserve to get anything from the game. Fabregas is pissing Howard Webb off, I think he's going to get his ass sent off, that shitty Rooney goal is just depressing..........oh man
