Arsenal Thread

hleb, rosicky, van persie, henry, toure, SILVA.... even maybe lunberg, seems like they have a nice mix of both
Whats the difference between those players and the likes of Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Ferdinand, Solskjaer, Van Der Sar, etc? Our players have more experience and better leadership qualities.
The only Arsenal players from recent years that I could think of that would count as genuine leaders were players like Vieira and Campbell and they're gone.

whats your point?

I wasnt being down on the club, got nowt against Arsenal FC...

Personally I think Wenger is being smart, he knows its a strange time for the club, just moved stadiums, big bills to pay ect, young team...

But he knows he doesnt have the same pressure as the other 3 managers at the top (maybe even the league) so why create pressure by buying a superstar...

If Arsenal get into the CL next year, that along with the big money from next years tv deal puts the club in a great posistion...

No-one wants Arsenal to fall behind, not at a time where, for the leagues sake, we need 4-6 teams being able to challenge for the league..

:applause: :) Faby`s 1st goal

was it me or diaby & baptista was fighting each other for the ball :(

Yh i was at the game and that was ridiculous. Diaby actually moved baptista of the ball and missed the one on one when he could have squard for a tap in.

we missed loads of chances again but at least we won.

I found that very strange indeed, well actually thinking about it I dont

Diaby probably thought "Get the fuck out of my way Julio your fucking shite you'll not score this!" ;)

but diaby is just has bad eh? he missed two sitters in that game! fuk i wish van persie played that game, he would of scored an hatrick! if van was not injured for the most part of the season i wont be surprised if he was within short distance of being top scorer in the league

Heck give us any decent average striker and he'll score double figures easily!

whats happening with Flamini?, does he still want to leave or was it just a made up story in the papers?, is Henry out for the season? hope he gets back for ya soon, great player to watch

Well done Arsenal! You have put the Scum back down to 4th (their favourite position!) :applause:

This is exactly what we need - Midfielders who can finally score!! Hooray!!

Shame they couldn't do it from the beginning of the season!!

I do think though that when we have our two top strikers back we will convert the many chances we have in each game. People seem to forget that we have had our two best strikers out for most of the season.

Henry and Van persie have probably played half a season each at the most and they were on 11 and 10 goals in the league. We are still 3rd in the league!

If any team had there two top strikers out for most of the season, I am sure they would be below par too?!

But it is all excuses - Hopefully we beat the scum on Saturday and that should gaurantee the 4th spot at least. Then we can see what our squad can do next season (Hopefully get a couple of extra players that can score bloody goals!!)

Who are the scum? It seems that everyone except the team people support are 'the scum'. For me, it's only Leeds United.

I only use 'Scum' for Spurs. That is the true definition - if you look in the dictionary it just says 'Tottenham Hotspur' next to the word 'Scum'. Nothing more, nothing less.

I use scum for Liverpool, the Shiteh for Man City and Chavs for Chelsea, that's it, I don't care about other teams.

Didn't Stevie wonder do a song about the Shiteh?

....Its just enough, just enough.... for the Shiteh!!

Something like that - I could be mistaken :-)

Sky Sports News.com:

The likelihood of Julio Baptista remaining at Arsenal on a long-term basis looks to be in doubt after the Brazilian's impassioned criticism of the English game.

Baptista has largely failed to impress in North London since joining on loan from Real Madrid - aside from a four-goal haul in a Carling Cup game at Anfield - and Arsene Wenger is expected to make a decision over a permanent move for the forward at the end of the month.

Whilst the man nicknamed 'The Beast' has refused to rule out staying at Emirates Stadium, he has savaged the English weather and criticised the quality of the Premiership after struggling to adapt since his summer move.

"The teams from the north of England are terrible," said Baptista in The Times.

"When we play them I have counted their centre-backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game.

"The weather over here is killing me. We'll get one day of sunshine for every 30 days of rain, and it is driving me to despair.

"My girlfriend and my mother are frightened about not seeing the sun in England. They miss being in Madrid.

"Premiership football is very hard. I am Brazilian and I enjoy playing the ball, making clever touches and taking bicycle kicks. Arsene Wenger does not forbid me from doing them, but the game is so fast I don't even have time to think about them.

"The moment you stop to think, someone has taken the ball off you and knocked you to the ground. Over here they value a corner kick more than a fancy flick.

"I am lucky to be with Arsenal, as they are a team that likes to play proper football."

Baptista's future is also dependent on whether Real Madrid opt to sign Jose Antonio Reyes on a permanent basis, and the Brazilian admits that he is currently in the dark over where he will be playing his football next season.

"I could stay at Arsenal, but right now I can't see myself anywhere for definite," Baptista added.

"But it's clear in my mind that I would tackle my second chance with Real with far more strength and maturity than I did in my first spell."

No mate, it's not the weather, you are crap!

I know where Baptista is coming from as he is a very good player, but his words are a little harsh tbh.
Yes it's a different game, but just cos you cannot adapt, you shouldn't criticise.

Also David Dein leaving Arsenal is one of the best things to have happened to english football.
Let's see if Arsene Wenger gets let off with any more 'warnings' again and again and again....

(btw... Scum = Spurs ;) )

Dein going is interesting but not the end of the world. He hasn't sold his shares he just won't sit on the board anymore. I liked the guy but he was more favourable of a move to Wembley than The Emirates and since then he went down in my estimation.

Agreed m8, yes the weather is differnt, yes you get less time on the ball but if your good enough you will overcome these problems.

Ask:

Ronaldo
Henry
Bergkamp
Zola
Robben
Cantona
and many more

All players that would excel in the Spanish league that could adapt in the Premiership.

Baptista - A player that thought his skill alone would make him a instant superstar.

Wembley ,maybe because Dein feared no money for transfers having a new stadium can hinder abit . There`s a lot behind close doors that we might not get the whole true , but I feel this is not the end of Dien. I also see Stan K. buying the club and Dein running everything like a corner store . Football now a days is big business the new free-enterprise of the world.

tbh I only see Roman Abramsanwich as the only foreign owner medley in the managers office trying to change the line up and position on the day of the match thinking he`s play`in FM07

I say let the Football players play and keep the politics away...and one more thing we need a GK soon and a left footed winger...and send baptista back to RM he too polical and..
