patient? we have not won the league in 3 seasons! plus where doing worse than last season

We had to wait 7 seasons before Wenger showed up. Before 88/89 we hadn't won it since the early 70's. No club wins the league by right. Certainly not Arsenal, who have only been serious, consistent championship contesters since 97/98, IOW, after Wenger showed up. If 2 and a half seasons is the limit of you patience in waiting for a Premiership title then I suggest you trot off here while the Jan sales are still on:

Back to the team, the away game at Sheffield Utd was as bad as any Arsenal performance I've ever seen. Guttless, uninspired, intimidated are all far descriptions, but what really stung for me was the fact that Sheffield were so shite themselves. If we lost to a plucky underdog side who played out of their skins then it would be a little easier to take, but they're a team of mugs and Phil Jagielka, ripe for the picking. Save for their goal, which was very well taken, they were almost as bad as us, but no one could have played as poorly as that Arsenal side did that day. Shocking.

It's bare bones stuff with the squad at the moment, but we have to do something against Charlton tonight if we have any ambitions for a CL spot next year. Charton are wank, but unfortunately so are we at the moment. Aliadiere is our only fit striker, and I'm close to feeling convinced that he's not good enough for a side with abitions towards being a top European team. There's a lot of talk about our inexperience at the back but up front Arsenal need to be more clinical. A fully fit Henry should go some way to resolving that, but will he be back too late? I can only think the worst if he's rushed back into the team this evening....

well said, mate. well said.:applause:

Superb finishing from Van persie. The power he puts into his shots is exceptional. Everyone is talking about Ronaldo and Drogba as players of the season, but surely van persie must be in with a shout if he keeps scoring goals at this rate.

aaaaaaa loved the Henry/Adebayor celebration after the first goal:) :) great!!!!
Yeah that was funny. Nice touch with the Wenger high five as well, doesn't seem to be any unrest between him and Henry.

BTW anyone see Henry's boots? Bring back the flashy stuff I say.

good result today. lovely goals from rosicky, henrys maybe should have been saved but im not complaining.

bring on the carling cup.

Well done arsenal. Excellent first and second goal where carragher and agger got owned. I've admired Rosicky for a couple of years, and today proved what a class act he is. Liverpool were very poor and only provided a threat from set pieces or hoofing the ball up the field to crouch, other than that they didn't do much, except pile all their players behind the ball and try and out muscle some players

You have to say Liverpool play some really dire football as proved today. You had Bellamy warming up all second half as Benetiz didn`t see fit to bring him on, incase they actually started to attack with him on. Pure stupidity from Rafa tactically. I would say this in the pool thread but I don't want to upset those poor fragile liverpolians. They may get very upset and start talking bollocks to try and persuade themselves to the contrary, while sprouting that they are brilliant really, Benitez is a proven manager at building teams, they are never lucky. When they lose it's because god was asleep, how dare he fall asleep.

Henry `s goal was freshening to see the self passing do it yourself goal . Is it me or did all 4 goals went in slow motion with 100% accuracy.Rosicky looks like he favors helb they have kindred spirits (if that a word)

yeah, ive noticed they read each other extremely well. hope to see more of it in the future.

I think you'd better get some perspective here and balance.

For the first 30 odd minutes the game was a tight one, with Liverpool having most of the possesion and Arsenal countering.

Then we had the Alonso pen decision that went for Arsenal, which might have forced Arsenal into a different approach if given and converted, as Arsenal where content to play deep.

Rosickys goal was very good to make it 1-0 albeit out of nothing.

Second goal was bad defending, not helped by the awful Dudek, why he was playing i dont know, after that it was tough going.

Second half we had 70% percent of the possesion. Now no one can tell me that was a deliberate ploy from Arsenal, i havent seen Arsenal dominated like that for some time. they were pegged back, we got one back and rallied. bellamy then should have been thrown on while the momentum was good. Unfortunately theres always a danger of a quick counter when you play Arsenal, and thats what it proved. Henry did well although helped by a Carra slip and Dudek diving over a soft shot!.

Got no complaints really, it was a weird kind of game that could have gone either way.

My opinion is that Rafa fucked up over Dudek, and especially not bringing on bellamy.

I wouldnt say for one minute the football was dire, we whipped in crosses and arsenal defended for their lives.

Henry's goal (again) made me ask myself why the hell doesnt he win the Player of the Year award. As soon as he got the ball in that wide position, I just knew he was gonna score. He's way too confident on the ball to bet against him in situations like that.

Overall, it was a decent game. More of the same in the Carling Cup, please.

antred you only had 70% possesion because we allowed it. We were 2 - 0 up, but i do admit that we played too far deep for a lot of the second half but then everytime we countered we look threatful.

We're more than a match for Liverpool is basically what im saying, just look at the game at Highbury where we dominated you completly. Today we played it just right for a cup game away from home against the holders.

Sorry i dont agree, and judging by your manager (i've just watched the televised version) sitting on the bench, he didnt look like it was planned, far from it he looked really concerned.

If we'd had equalised which was more than possible it would have made that strategy look foolish. As it was you scored a breakaway goal at the death to put the game beyond. Ill be honest i find conceeding ground to the opposition as a tactic as bullshit, because you can never guarantee your team can defend for a whole ninety without conceeding. Last year Carlos Qiueroz said the same thing about allowing Liverpool all the possession at OT as a tacti, after they beat us 1-0. but if we'd had stuck away numerous chances (including Cisses misses) it would have made a mockery of that tactic.

Dont get me wrong good luck next round and all i just dont believe they were tactics.

liverpool were dangerous w/o a doubt endless attacks...I love how we had the finish product (I watched PPV(HDtv) anfield was loud )

Having said that, i dont think Liverpool hardly created any chances, lots of crossing and corners, but the only real chance i counted was Aurellio's volley.

You can say 'if' or 'but' all day the reality was we dealt with Liverpool, which is why Almuni only had a few easy saves to make.

Arsenal have proven, again, that they are a better footballing team against Liverpool. Your team were ponderous and played shoddy football, just trying to stifle and suffocate the arsenal players from playing their game with numerous individuals behind the ball. Just watch rosicky's first goal and notice how many liverpool players surrounded him, nearly your whole team. It was reminiscent of watching chelsea play, anyone with eyes to see noticed that.

At the end of the day Rafa picked the team, unsettled the defense with two changes Agger/ Dudek and failed to change tactics i.e bring Bellamy on, even when it was clear Wenger had targeted your weakest link - Garcia and Riise down the left. If thats not wrong tactics, then I don't know what is! Furthermore if your team loses to a better team, best thing to do is not come out with petty excuses of 'ifs' and 'buts'. You should just be honest enough about it and admit that your team was not good enough. Even with 65-70% possession and you couldn't create ONE clear cut opportunity. There was only pointless crosses into thw one dimensional Crouch which ended up all too predictable.

so you didnt watch the game then? or was that just sarcasm?

Something that hasn't been bought up by the rest of you goons, but i just frikkin hate Eboue's play antics. This guy has gone completely backwards in my viewpoint this season. Yeah sure he twisted his ankle, but not '5 minutes' after a tackle with the ref coming to access the situation!

F'ing hate that play acting bullshit! I wonder if Wenger had had enough and saved him from being attacked by the KOP?

I'm feeling sorry for Hoyte, who should be given a good run now, and wonder if Ralph will just slot right back in once he's back.
Eboue... you have a lot to learn!

Totally agree with this, its not like his defending is any good either!! Its just embarrassing when he does it (virtually every game he plays). Hoyte has done OK imo but he is not the long term answer. Get Ralph back in asap once fit. His experience will be much welcomed in our fledgling defence.

So its Bolton again in the 4th round. Anyone for some revenge? ;)

I agree that Hoyte is not the permanent option, but at least he's better than Eboue in defending, and doesn't feign injury every 2 secs. However, Hoyte does seem to get excited sometimes and jump in, leaving the space for an attacker to exploit.

Ralph will bring on some good experience, and with Gallas returning soon, the defence will be looking solid.

Fucking Bolton. They beat us, Liverpool beat them, we beat Liverpool.. go figure.

Hope we don't buckle again! :(

Much respect for you guys on Eboue. I try to never defend United players if they're acting (which fortunately isn't so often a problem lately) and it just disgusts me because I like to think they're above it. Thought Eboue was a joke, and Wenger calling him on it in the CL was refreshing, and pulling him on Saturday was equally welcome. For any player to fall down at a post, while winning a cup tie, to try and waste time is just dispicable, and something I would never expect by Premiership teams (porto, cough cough).

Freddie Ljunberg?

SAF is asking about Adebayor and forcing us to give more(fully deserved) but SAF plans are to make us spend more instead of buying or does he find pleasure in stir up AW for amusment?

Eboue in the start of the season looked promising but just like chocolate the taste has gone...let him be an example as good as it gets

but in that 7 years, wenger was not in charge. Im talking about wenger, he needs to sort himself out, arsenal should be doing better than this, not fighting for 4th spot with bolton and portsmouth!! thats just pathetic. i dont expect us to win the league but at least be close to the league leaders at least

bye bye Freddie??

West Ham have reportedly made a £7m bid for Arsenal's out-of-favour Freddie Ljungberg.

Arsenal have made their declining winger available for transfer and both The Independent and Sun report that the Hammers approached the Gunners last night.

'West Ham are confident that they will also be able to match Ljungberg's personal terms - which means he could earn an astonishing £70,000 a week - but although the midfielder is keen to stay in the Premiership, they are unsure if he will want to join a relegation-threatened club,' reports the Indy.

'It is likely that Ljungberg, who is now captain of the Swedish national team, may insist on an exit clause should West Ham be relegated. West Ham could also try to revive Arsenal's interest in their midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, who wants to leave the club after a traumatic season, and offer him in a possible swap deal.'

While the Ljungberg deal would end any prospect of Shaun Wright-Phillips moving to Upton Park, the Hammers are also being linked with Arsenal's fit-again full-back Lauren. He is out of contract in the summer and the Gunners could sell him this January for £1m.

According to The Daily Mirror, Arsene Wenger has decided to offload Ljungberg in order to make room in his squad for Franck Ribery.

'Wenger wants to lower the average age of his team and Ribery fits the bill perfectly with his youth, pace and skill,' the papers says.

The Indy, however, reckons that Wenger 'has lined up Ajax's Dutch international left winger Ryan Babel as Ljungberg's replacement. The 20-year-old is keen to join Arsenal although no deal will be done before the end of the season as Wenger wants to look at other targets.'

If we were offered £7mill we really should take it. Freddie is not the same player he was. Not sure if I'd want Reo-Coker though.

Totally agree with you boys on Eboue, how can you criticise another mates team for diving when your team does it so badly!
