Arsenal Thread

1 more thing about Arsenal just to keep the subject from dying they are winning w/o any cards shown which is odd.Teams aren`t intentionally push or grabbing which shows the lack of frustration.I think evertonians might be different though I hope they attack and not sit and defend we`re not good at ping pong deflecting shots

I see

Everton are definately gonna be much harder to brake down, but its still a game that we should be winning.

You miserable mongrels. Cant believe all the fuss just because I said the Reading win wasnt that great. You fans are touchy. Imho I think you should wait before getting ahead of yourselves just yet and see if your a match for a team like chelsea or Bolton to see how far arsenal have come from last season. Yes you have already beaten United but we simply was not at our best. Just like Liverpool was below par when we played them. Thats why you don't see United fans getting carried. Maybe because we are not arrogant, pompous and from fickle r'us.

Your not arrogant? Go back and read your posts.

No ones getting carried away, all we're saying is that we managed to wipe Reading aside effortlessly in a match that we all thought would be tough since they managed to give ManU and Chelsea a hard game.

We know theres harder challenges but we also know that we can win those games.

I said before that the two injuries to Chelsea helped you. If they'd have injured any of your players they have been hung drawn and quartered.

you just don't stop, do you? I honestly think we are better than you this season, we had a bad start but have started winning since getting rid of cole and reyes. we have beat you once already and looked quite impressive, and have done since. I really think we can win the league this season, if it's still too early then definately next season. we will push chelsea all the way and i think we'll better you lot this time round.

Fuckin hell! Who rattled your cage?
Try reading what I wrote again and this time try to understand it.
All I said was, it might have been a tougher game if they hadn't injured the Chelsea players the week before. All the media attention must have been playing on their minds, and just maybe they weren't as committed in their challenges as usual.

way to speak for millions of people. I, for one, think you're an absolute wanker. doesnt mean i'm going to round up all united fans into that category.

Good point x X t o c z!

On Arsenal related news does anyone subscribe to Arsenal TV online? I used to but my direct debit fucked up and now they want to charge my double the price! It's just that I've read they have decided to sort out the concrete at the Emirates with the top one being trophy based, the second ARsenal based and the bottom one with advertising and it's supposed to be done by this Sat. If you do subscribe a pic from the webcam showing what's happened would be mucho appreciated!

Cheers

Perhaps. I think the one factor you guys have to worry about a bit more than Chelski, United, Pool is that it's coming up to winter time. Your game is beautiful on a nice pitch with passes flying all over the place, but when its little more than mud and snow, you need a bit more muscle than finesse. Here's to hoping its a tight 3-horse race come april!

I guess calling people 'absolute wanker's' doesnt fit you into the category for touchy fans who post spasticated remarks when they don't like something they hear about their team. I guess your nothing more than a common scoundrel. The sheer arrogance emanating forth from this thread from you fans. From views such as 'champagne football' just because you beat a depleted Reading team, to how Arsenal are better side than United this year and on course to win the title, even though you sit 4th while United stand 1st. I thought Liverpoo suporters were bad with their deluded fantasies. Only time will tell when the end of the season comes, you will be silenced and made to look like the miserable fools you are for getting carried away.

But we do have game in hand which if we won would only put us 2 points behind you and Chelsea and us in third. I don't see how thinking we could win the league after possiblly being 2 points behind a team that we've beat when we've started playing good football is arrogant.

I think your a wanker due to all your opinion's not your constant anti-Arsenal remarks. Anyone with half a brain saw that our football left Reading shellshocked on Sunday cause our interplay was that smooth and quick.

i'm not touchy, mate. its just an opinion. ;)

doesnt matter which team you're talking about. you're so far up your own teams arse its sickly.

and please.. stop making predictions. whether you want to believe it or not, you can't see into the future, vamps.

and not to let this be considered as spam, i honestly couldnt care how depleted a team is, a wins a win. it seems to me that you just cant comprehend the possibility that arsenal knew how to cut reading open alot better than man utd or chelsea could.

Im sorry you feel obliged to follow your arsenal peers and behave like a moron and act hostile towards me because of mere opinion. I had you down as one of the few arsenal fans with their head screwed on. You dissapoint me. I thought you was better than sheep talk. I guess my judgement of character is not so perfect. I get the impression here, that once a few fans form a opinion, the rest have to follow like sheep.

I just would like to clear up a few things. Firstly I have nothing against Arsenal, so all this anti-arsenal partisan talk is unfounded. Some of you know damn well I have issued praised to arsenal when they deserve it. It might not have been excessive as some of you may have liked, but nevertheless I give praise where praise is due. If you want to refer to the wenger jokes I make, then I suggest you look at yourself and generate a sense humour. I make fun of United's players and staff all the time. I critise United when I think they are not doing well as some think, just as harshly as i critise Arsenal when some think they God's gift to mankind.

I think arsenal did play well to beat Reading 4-0. But to then jump to conclusions that you are going to win the title and playing the best football is a bit arrogant imo. Its like last season when we beat chelsea 1-0 at Old trafford, it would have been stupid to suggest we were better than them and predict we were going to win the title. It would be even more stupid and fickle to suggest we are better than them now just because we are top. We take one game at a time and dont get ahead of ourselves prematurely like a teenager believing they are ready for the real world by plunging themselves into pregnancy. I think I'll conclude this debate instead of letting it get into a pissing match. I'l leave you arsenal supporters to drool over eachothers posts praising your team endlessly while fullfilling eachothers fantasies online.

@AL I like you m8 and it true you have criticised ManUtd alot even when you have a laugh at me I never take it to heart. It`s hard for me to go against any gooner even when there off a bit.Not all disapprove of your words I sometimes start fires in the ManUtd thread and nobody attacks me harshly.

I am guilty of loving my club too much maybe cause I live million of miles away

Ok... fine if you don't believe in opinion, do you believe in numbers? because those are kinda hard to dispute...

Matches Played------------9-----------8
Points----------------------22----------17
Goal Difference-----------14----------11
Goals Per Game----------2.3-----------2
Goals Given Per Game---.8-----------.5
Strength of Schedule-----80(91)-----85(101)

Stats on your left are ManU, and right are Arsenal... for those that don't understand strength of schedule, its the total amount of points accumulated by the opponents played so far... the number on the left represent total points up until the 8th game, the ones in paranthesis are up till the 9th game... a game Arsenal has yet to play...

As you can see... the stats are fairly similar... the only difference we're feeling here is this one game that has yet to be played... in which case the points difference will be within 2 points(if we win, and I'm hopeful) and the goal difference will be atleast within 2 as well if I'm allowed to be a little hopeful before Mr. Vamp decides to suck me dry of it... the KEY stat is the Strength of Schedule... I don't know how you english folk decide the strength of your teams as I just got into football recently and I love it; but in the US, strength of schedule plays a large role in deciding how strong a team really is. As you can see, even before the 8th match Arsenal has to deal with an extra win and two draws from their opponents... and if we go up to the 9th game, we're clearly playing a tougher set of opponents up to this point with a difference of 3 wins and a tie...

Now, unlike opinion, numbers can't just suddenly develop out of nowhere, they aren't biased, and don't have emotion... They can't tell you which teams played weren't playing at their best on which games... but they do tell us which teams are inconsistent in their play in general and without consistency, I don't see how you can win in the Premiership as there are no "Playoffs" and Chelsea ran away with the title last year by 8 points and 12 points the year before...

So in general, clearly we ARE title contenders and even Mr. Vamp can't dispute that... numbers don't lie... unless they're rigged, but in this case these numbers can be found at your favorite sports review website, like ESPN, SkySports, etc... Oh, and SkySports has a lot of interesting stats... like Fabregas is dishing out 200+ more passes than the next guy(Gilberto) on our team :)... so anyways, besides the stats there are Two games on both our schedules that are the reason why we ARE celebrating... and those are the win at Old Trafford and the Win last week at Madejski, the two wins that truly seperate our two teams... these two games speak waves of our current status I mean... I don't have to be a football fan for years to realize playing on enemy territory is one of the harshest conditions an athlete can play in...

I have never seen strength of schedule before but it is quite an interesting little stat!

normally we add up wins and losses, but since football uses points to determine the champion; I felt it was better to use it via points :)

Senderos and Flamini back in the squad but Clichy rested

Arsenal v Everton
Barclays Premiership
Emirates Stadium
Sat, Oct 28, 2006, 3pm

By Richard Clarke

Philippe Senderos and Mathieu Flamini are back in the Arsenal squad for the visit of Everton on Saturday.

The duo started in the midweek victory at West Brom in the Carling Cup. It represented the first competitive game of the season for Senderos while injury has also restricted Flamini’s involvement this term.

Jeremie Aliadiere, scorer of both goals at The Hawthorns, retains his place in the squad but Emmanuel Adebayor is out after limping in that game with a thigh problem. Gael Clichy is not involved.

“We lost Emmanuel Adebayor on Tuesday night but he has recovered very well and he may be ready for Moscow,” said Arsène Wenger. “I will rotate the squad a bit on Saturday. Senderos and Flamini will be back and Aliadiere stays in.

“Gael Clichy is not involved because I want him to work hard but he is very close now. I feel he is not completely ready because there are still little compensations. He has been out for so long and I do not want to rush him back now and get him injured again. He is a precious jewel — a left back - and we do not have many.”

There was further news on Emmanuel Eboue (knee) and Julio Baptista (hamstring)

“I thought Eboue would be available for Everton," said Wenger. "But it will be a little bit longer than expected. I don’t think he will be available for Moscow but he has a little chance for West Ham but a very good one for Everton [in the Carling Cup]. Baptista will be two more weeks at least.”

I think in the US it has to do with more money(point spread, playoffs and championship games which drags out and brings more confusion .I`m not knocking what your saying just one of my reason I dislike mls.As you can see Why the EPL is the greatest league of the them all.

Thank you for the sentiments bebop, your not so bad yourself. A rare honest guy. Even though we may disagree on many things since we support different teams, I see no reason why there should not be any respect. We are all here for the same reasons, which is because we enjoy football.

Looks like it was Schloer instead:lol:

 I'm rarely wrong when I tell people not to get carried away. United fans should be going crazy now because we beat a Bolton team who were undefeated at home this season in the premiership. We are the best now yeah red wine football. the best football in the land. I just wonder if the pundits will wank each other off to this win like they did with Arsenals last week.
