I think they will have to work their arses off if they want to get it done in 2 and a half years though.

It will also help any bid the get the euro championships or the world cup in England if we have another big capacity and modern stadium.

Hahaha, you avatar is quality Nicky.
Well, it was until you changed it. :(

With the new stadium I really hope all four sides of the ground are close to the pitch like it is at Highbury. Thats the beauty about Highbury the fans are so in with the action. But as I see the artists mockups the side views are closed in but the north and south sides go back quite a bit because the the effect of the dome around the pitch. I doubt we'll get great pitches like we have at Highbury because the pitch can breath with the open air at the corners. I've also heard that the stadium will be "state-of-the-art" whats special about it? will it have a retractable roof? I suspect it's just the design and the facilites that the stadium will offer. I wonder if the pitch will be able to elevate or spin

I was thinking just the same thing regarding the closeness of the fans to the pitch, and I hope they sort that out at the north and south ends before the stadium is built.

Apparently Arsenal have been using other new stadiums to try and use new technology to make sure th pitch will get all the natural sun and air it needs.

yeah i don't see how they can build a whole new 60,00 capacity stadium in over two years. it took almost 8 months for norwich to have ther new 8,000 south stand.

I think Stuart needs an evo-web tutorial. ;)
If Norwich's south stand took 8 months to build, multiply that by 4 and it comes to 2 years and 4 months, which works out to be just when our new stadium is finished.

Forgive my ignorance my fellow gooners, but ever since we returned to Highbury from Wembley in the Champions League, I've always wondered why they have to reduce the capacity at Highbury to about 36,000. I mean........... wassupwitdat?

Emmmm.......I think you need a little tutorial there mate. 8 months by 4 comes to 32 months which is 2 years and 8 months.

Also i don't think Stuart was talking about how long it took to build one stand, I think he was talking about the fact it took 8 months to build 8000 seats so it would take much longer to build 60000 seats. He was basing his theaory on a formula like this:

8000 seats - 8 Months
60000 seats = 60000/8000 x 8 months = 60 Months = 5 years approx.

By the way...what is an "evo-web tutorial"?

Well for starters if you don't know what a tutorial is, how do you know I need one? And an evo-web tutorial is just something I made up as I joke, alright smart arse? Also, well done on clocking my mathematical error there GG, it only took you 24 hours to figure it out.
Regarding our new stadium, if they say it will be ready in 2 years, then it will be ready in 2 years, most of the demolishion work has already been done and alot more people will be working on our new stadium than Norwich's south stand were. Just look at the new Wembley, that's already 6 weeks ahead of schedule so I don't see why it can't be the same in Arsenal's case.

This is what Ashburton Grove would look like in real life, rather than the computer generated images made by the designers. Wets your appetite for the new Arsenal stadium!

What stadium is this? And what's it's capacity? How do you know Ashburton Grove will look exactly like this?

Yeah very funny mate, unlike you I took a quick glance at the pictures and made my post, alright?!
It is similar to the artists impression of our new stadium though.
One more question though, what's the stadium called?

Its the new benfica stadium that holds £75,000, it was designed by HOK sport the same guys who are designing our very own Ashburton Grove. Both stadiums have identical four tier seating and seat design.

The stadium is called Estadio da Luz or for you and me "Stadium Of Light"

£75,000 hey? That's quite expensive.
Anyway I think you meant 75,000, but I think it is actually 65,000 like proximus said, I just looked it up. from what I can see though it's got 3 tiers with one little one in the middle like Stamford Bridge.

haha yeah my mistake! You know what, I've seen around saying 65,000 too but I've read 75,000 on the actually HOK sport website, the architects they should know because they designed the thing! maybe they haven't updated it I don't know. It's actually four tiers, if you look closely there's a tiny tier below the main top one for the Executive Boxes and little seats to let them come outside and sit on.

Nah, they just kept the same name, they didn't want to change it. Like how Arsenal should do it, call our new stadium "Highbury"

"New Highbury" is good, but it's two words to many I reckon. When people say "Highbury" they already assume it's Arsenal's stadium. But Highbury is the place, the actual official stadium name is "Arsenal Stadium" but we don't call it that. So I think it would be fitting to offically name our new stadium "Highbury"

"At base level, Arsenal are a team of artists - creative, playful,
magnificent, but also very sensitive."

-Raphael Honigstein

Artistic temperament
To find out the real reasons for their failure, you
have to delve deep into the soul of the team.
At base level, Arsenal are a team of artists - creative, playful,
magnificent, but also very sensitive. While Wenger's rival, the Manchester
United FC manager Sir Alex Ferguson, has frequently accused the Frenchman of
triumphalism in his unstinting praise for his team, the Arsenal coach's
actions should not be confused with arrogance.

Total faith
Wenger's comments serve a specific purpose: to reinforce his side's
all-important self-confidence. Arsenal's game is fired by the
imagination - they totally depend on self-belief and faith in their own abilities.
At their best, Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp, and Thierry Henry do not even
seem to notice the presence of the opposition on the pitch. When Arsenal
are on their game, opponents are spectators - at best an inconvenience,
at worst an irrelevance.

Back-up plan
The sad truth is that Arsenal's craftsmen are expected to produce
genuine works of art in each game. There is not enough balance in the team
to defend successfully over prolonged periods, no back-up option, no plan B.
That is why, until Wenger's men learn to grind out unglamorous results when
the creative sparks are not flying, lifting the Champions League trophy will
remain a dream

This was written last season after Valencia sent us out.

Do you think this could be our year? I mean we seem to be grinding em out ...as at Vigo this week.
