I mean quaters then mate. Oh one semi in 2001. nothing else. So stop talking about how united are Formidable in europe.

Secondly of the top of my head Bergkamp missed an injury time penalty which would have knocked you out of the FA cup.

Thirdly going into the last two games Arsenal lost 1 - 0 to leeds, Hassalbaink scored in 85 min. You just needed to win against Spurs in the last game cause we were 1 point behind and had better goal difference i think. You one 2 - 1. And won the league by 1 point.

O how can we forget the Inter game- They destroyed you but could't get the second, I think David May cleared the ball off the line in the last minute at OT aswell. Not forgeting two injury time goals against Bayern M who hit the inside of the post (Basler) and Jancker hitting the bar. They were all over you.



Verdict... Flukey. And you lot also get on my tits.
 
Wenger said he thinks Bently is a great talent but can't guarentee him first team place. And justin Hoyte is probabaly gonna leave to. All our young English players F**ckin leave. Pennant,Upson,Taylor etc.

In all honesty, Man Yoo & the Arse (and more recently Chel$ki) have both had their flukey moments. What do they call it? Luck of Champions? It's weird how it works out like that but hey, when it rains it pours.

It pains me to say it but I think Lady luck has cast her fickle fancy towards West London for now at least. I just hope FIFA and UEFA nail Abramovich for every filthy peeny he's got [-o<

This is a worrying trend afflicting clubs with a foreign manager, who prefers to bring in his countrymen simply its because its what he understands and the whole verbal and non-verbal communication thing. I don't like it personally and preferred the League when they had limits on foreigners (they still do it in Italy?) - altho imagine what would happen if Sir A.Ferguson started bringing in his countrymen....watch that team slide down the league! :mrgreen:
 
1 South American a year. However many Brazilians/Argentinians have italian roots (Argentina itself has a population of something like 55% Italian relatives), so they grab an Italian passport, like Cicinho did to get to Real Madrid easy.

No one is saying we're so great in Europe. We're just pointing out that we're better than Arsenal in European competitions. Dont bother bringing up recent statistics cuz the fact is, we lost to arguably the best teams in the competition which means unless we were good enough to win the whole thing, we werent gonna get past them. Whereas you scrape it past the group stages alost everytime.

Just cuz we scored two goals in injury time, its considered a fluke and undeserving? So bascially, if we had scored the same two goals during the 90 mins, it wouldnt be a fluke? :roll:
And May clearing the line is a fluke too? So what is he supposed to do? Let the ball go into the net?

Its 100% fair to say to say that their recent CL win wasnt a fluke. But what if they had scored all 3 goals within the last 5 mins? That would suddenly be considered a fluke?

It would be considered lucky but not a fluke. Fluke and Lucky are two different things.
 
agreed, in fact luck is the most important factors in winning the CL besides quality of the players....look at 2003...Milan got through several rounds through away goal rule and where wipewashed by teams like dortmund, ajax and real madrid..yet the won the competition.....look at 2004.....porto wouldnt have even come close to the final if they were drawn into the arsenal-chelsea-bayern-Madrid ½ of the draw....yet they still win it....same applies to 2005....to some extent 1999 and earlier in the 1990's when red star beat barcelona
 
I totally agree: luck is very important to win the CL. Real Madrid had to defeat both holders and runner-ups in 2000, and managed to get through: I don't consider that luck. Bayern beat Real Madrid in the semis in 2001, which was in my opinion the best team in Europe (holders plus Figo and Makelele), and also defeated a great Valencia in the final. Well deserved. But those are just examples, it's much more common that great teams get knocked out between themselves and likes of PSV, Ajax, Porto, Lyon... have to fight between themselves, so at least one of them will get far.

Remember Dortmund being champions? Juve was way better, but had a more struggling way 'till the final. That Porto - Monaco final was a joke. I mean, they did great, and were very solid teams... but were definitely not the best teams in Europe. They just both had luck enough to knock out teams that outplayed them in many matches. Arsenal and Man Utd were far better teams that year.
 
I can't say Liverpool did it the easy way either, with Chelsea, Juventus and LFC's old nemesis, Bayer Leverkusen, in their way. Thing is, we lost to Sturm Graz early on, but due to having two matches against them, came through.

not to mention all the other times they've HAD to watch us lift the Prem Trophy, especially the three in a row where no one could get near us...

And the fact that we literally kick them so bad that players like Reyes are too afraid to come to OT.

Good news yesterday that club have managed to control the debts well and have still left us a good cash amount.

With a good bunch of kids and a bright future at the Emirates things are looking good at the moment.

Managed to get FC Thun tickets this morning so along with the community sheild and Fulham games i've been to already this season and the Everton tickets I already have I hope to hit double figures for games seen this season.

I think we've got more non-Saturday fixtures this year than we have i previous seasons which for me is good as I can't do Saturdays!

Well you're FA Cup is also one game where we also outplayed you.

So thats 2 games. And whatever you want to call the OT game, that also counts as a win for us too.

Just cuz you have something to show it doesnt mean you're better than us.
