I wouldn't say we're skint but I think the view is that if we don't have to spend the money don't waste it as paying off chunks of the loan early will reduce the interest payments.

I think if the club wanted to buy someone they would but obviously Arsene sees Mart Poom as suitable cover and good enough to provide a challenge for the No 1 jersey.

I think Almunia actually did pretty well it was just the defence that messed up last season.

I think having him in goal gave the defence no confidence at all.

I suppose you missed him tearing out of goal against United and his brilliant performnace at Bolton away? He is a clown.

This is what I meant really, we have a lack of transfer funds because money is being poured into the stadium project.

The Vieira money helped pay for Hleb cos apparently we got half now and half next year.

Mart Poom's alright, he was coveted by some big clubs a few years back. I remember an 'On the Ball' feature they did on him once back when he was at Derby. It's clear Wenger is using him to paper over the cracks for the time being, before buying a young keeper who hopefully will wear the number 1 shirt for a good few years.

Some interesting stuff on our new keeps: http://www.vm.ee/estonia/kat_173/3888.html

Apparently Sky Sports say we may make a late big for Andreas Isaakson on Rennes. I hope it's true as hge was the keeper I wanted us to get at the start of the summer.

Who is Gilberto's first choice partner in the center?

Depends on the tactics of the manager and the opposition. I reckon AW wants Fabregas in there in the long term, but for now he's still young so he'll probably be rotated with Flamini.

Andreas Isaakson might have been a great signing. But everything seems too late now.

Well the report on Sky Sports says that in Estonia they are not too confident in the Poom deal as Arsenal are currently talking to another keeper at the same time.

I think he's talking about Hleb but I not sure.

That's what I thought but he's started the last 2 games so that comment is pretty stupid.

Then again it is Sulph.

Hleb looks class - wish Liverpool got him tho :(

Ballack reckoned Bayern would have won the CL last season if Hleb had been in the side. High praise indeed. I can't wait until he gets going, he is going to be awesome. Needs a good song though.

U lot would have smacked it if you got Ballack on your side - he would have been exactly what you were looking for to replace the void left by Vieira.

Owen as well - to compliment Henry. The "fox-in-the-box" Wenger craved since, ahem, Jeffers. Well surprised you didn't pounce for him...

Poom for Arsenal

Skysports now say this!! It gets even more funny though, he is expected to be out for 4 weeks injured!

I thought the whole point is signing him was so he could play in the first 2 champions league games?

These start on 14 Sept so Almunia would have to play anyway!?

This is what I thought, seems a stranger transfer by the minute!

Big teams hardly ever loan players for some strange reason. IMO Arsenal should loan someone.
