Lehmann, Flamini and Senderos were quality

Vieira was shit
Reyes was shit
Bergkamp was shit
Cole was shit

Keep the heads up! It was over after the first leg! I'm still dreaming of a Chelsea total system meltdown, unbeaten run til the end of the season with FA Cup in hand as well.

senderos was good, and so was viera. his chance would've been a magical goal. henry was in a better mood than two weeks ago, you could see that by the way he was fighting and running after lost balls. the goal came early enough for arsenal, bad positioning by lucio there.

on the other hand, some ugly fouls by bergkamp in the first half, as well as from viera in the second half against lizarazu near the sideline. lehmann was good today, nice save aginst ballack. overall, arsenals offensive attacks were a bit late and desperate.

seeing the two games together, bayern deserved to go through imo.

Yes, surprisingly it wasn't Arsenal's defending that let them down, but their attacking

Looked a bit clueless at times going forward, I have to say.

It was their defending, but in the first-match not last night.

Arsenal to me as a complete neutral (I have no great feeling one way or the other for this team), can be pretty 1-dimensional in Europe. That sounds a strange thing to say about a team which is capable of playing some great football, but the thing is that's all they ever try to do and when it doesn't work (like last night), they are at a loss to what needs to be done. With seconds remaining on the clock in yesterday evening's match, Arsenal were playing 5 yard passes on the ground, in their own half. They need a 'battering ram' type-forward, even just to throw on late in matches, to give them an option. Not even a battering ram, just someone who can attack crosses and head it on a regular basis, they have no one like that just now (did you see Henry putting his hands up and not jumping on a 50/50 last night?).

They could also do with another defender, Cygan can't cut it and this was known before the end of last season. Toure doesn't look as comfortable when not alongside Campbell, and Senderos doesn't convince me yet, even last night in a game he supposedly strolled through (no surprise, Bayern came to defend not attack) he made a complete arse of one header at the end and Lehmann bailed him out.

Wenger is to blame.

Bayern deserved it over the 2 legs, their defence is awesome! We lost it in Munich, the 3 soft goals we gave away were shocking, it was always going to be an up hill struggle after that.

Senderos proved what a great talent he is with an excellent display and Henry was our best forward, what a finish!

Overall we have come up short again though, Wenger must make major changes in the summer if we are finally going to do something special in this competition. It feels like a noose around our neck and its getting tighter after every year of failure.

Bolton next then on Saturday which is now a massive game.

Semderos played very well, time by time when I was watching the juve match I went the the Arsneal match, and saw Senderos playing very well.
byern did deserve it but good luck arsneal for the Premier League.

Congrats Butatista, but do you know where this Semderos comes from?

He is Swiss, we signed him from Servette 2 years ago. He has been injured for most of that time. This is his longest run in the side. I have high hopes for him.

well, well well........

Pires, he was sheer class as soon as he came on, something about the way he just floats about the pitch, Reyes was fucking awful, seriously does he want to play for Arsenal???

Then Van Persie, my god, VP should have come on a long time ago and not for Freddy, he SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BERGKAMP OFF!!!!! My oh my Bergy was a complete and utter disgrace anyone could see he was not up to the job!

Theirs something about VP which was needed in a game like that, he has the skill to create something unexpected, thats what was needed a little something special nobody expected.

The other thing that really, really annoyed me was the lack of crossing, Lauren got into good positions and he just would not whip it into the box, if he did then it could have caused some distress in the Bayern box!

Too much passing was going on at times, when a long ball can cause a lot of problems, its a shame really the pressure only came in that spell when we got the goal for a few minutes.

JAR is playing pretty badly at the moment. Last night he made one vital last-ditch tackle (yes thats right, a TACKLE) against Pizarro I think, but he had little or nothing to offer in attack, spare a handful of tricky passes.

I dunno, im loathed to abandon him cuz he's clearly got mad skills. He just looks a bit under weight to me, he often get caught in possession because he cant seem to have enough of a physical presence. Needs a few more nights spent in the gym. The EPL is pretty brutish compared to continental leagues and some even great players cannot completely adapt to the muscle required, and thus often find themselves drifting out of the game ala Juan Seba Veron & Hernan Crespo. What you tend to get from players such as these is flashes of brilliance amongst long spells of painful mediocrity. Im praying Reyes doesnt fall into this category cuz I really think he can develop into a great player, I just hope it happens at Arsenal [-o<

Henry is out for 2/3 weeks with a calf strain!!! Big blow.
I cant even think of am injury that Henry has had before, it had to happen some time.

Your quite right, I have thought to myself before why doesnt he get injured ? , suppose his time as come now. He did miss a match recently in the FA cup though didnt he ? or did Wenger just rest him for that match

He had a niggling something, not sure though. But its the only injury i can remember. The guy is a machine.

Great result on Saturday. Diouf is an idiot, he helped us reach the semi's. Cheers mate.

Anyway, a Arsenal-Utd final is still on. Anyone remember the 5 minute final in 1979?

I heard it was near £35mil.. but i may be confusing this with my FM2005 budget :):)

I hope he looks at Mascherano. Brilliant DMF. Absolute monster at River. There is also Essien and Mavuba in the reckoning.

You think he may move for Abbiati as GK? I've also heard Seba Frey's name pop up on more than one occassion, but he will prob go to Inter. What about Morgan de Sanctis? Carlo Cudicini? Who knows.

I just want to see a CB with authority in the middle. When Sol is absent, NO ONE takes command at the back. Givet or Squillaci coming in? Ledley King would be class, but who knows what would happen if we take Tottenhams Captain.... again ;)

Mascherano would have been great but he has since been transfered to Corithinians. Rumored to be funded by Chelsea supremo, Roman. I have not see enough of Essien but he looked great for Lyon this past week.

arsenal need 2 buy 4-5 new players, we need a new goalie, 2-3 experience defenders, a new central midfield, sean wrigh philipps, and a owen..

we need 2 sell viera and reyes, dat alone sud give us 30million extra for thsoe 2 players. than we would have 60million 2 spend!!!!

wenger its time 2 go shopping this summer

Blackburn then in Cup. Best we could have got. Hopefully if we can get through then it sets it up for a possible Arsenal - Man Utd final. WOW.

What an occasion that would be!!

Wow perfect draw. I really was expecting Man utd. Vs. Arsenal again.

Anyone realised we havent conceded in four games. Not since Peter Crouch's goal on 26th February.

Gilberto Silva made his return in a reserve game tonight.
Doe anyone know when Sol will be back?

Who the Fuck are you? Mr 44 posts. Perhaps if you contibuted more it would be a bit more bustling as you put it.
Im the one about to tell you Fuck you, you tit. My 44 posts do not take away from the fact that posting here had dropped significantly. Now, evidently, with only 44 posts, I am clearly not one of those who contributed to the bustling nature of the thread, and I didnt claim to be. Some people post regularly, others, infrequently. Now what is wrong with an infrequent poster trying to spark up a thread?

Pires7 you sound more upbeat!!

Yeah, 4 clean sheets on the spin, who would have thought it?

Sol is out for a couple more weeks I think.

Who would you buy if you were Wenger?

I've heard from a couple of news sites that Arsenal will have around 30 million pounds to spend this summer (and if Reyes is sold to Real, Wenger may have closer to 45!).

Just out of curiosity, what talent would you guys pick up if you wanted to make sure Arsenal were competitive in the EPL next year and maybe even more so, the Champions League?
