Gilberto's injury doesnt bother me at all. We've got better replacements anyway, Gilberto has been shit recently and Fabregas and Edu do a better job.!!

That's bull. Gilberto is a great player for us, and he's having his best spell in the side at the moment. Some Arsenal fans are just too quick to jump on him even when he's done nothing at all wrong. He's a boo boy and doesn't deserve it.

I hope his injury isn't as serious as it seems now. Hopefully, we'll have him back in a month.

Did you see him against Norwich, he was awful, and then again in other matches. I dont think he formed as good a partnership as Edu has with Vieira. Edu is better in nearly every department, and I dont see why Wenger persists with Gilberto sometimes.

I disagree with you. Gilberto is so vital for us. Everytime the team goes forward he's in front of the defence, either on the left, right or just covering Vieira - he always plugs the holes. Also, he has a great knack for just grabbing the ball from player and passing it on quickly, while leaving the hard tackling to Vieira - who, of course - gets most of the praise. When a team attacks with six or seven players at a time we need someone like Gilberto in the team.

Edu is good yes (one of my favourite players in fact for his attitude amongst other traits), and he had spells last season where he deserved his place in the team but overall Gilberto is more consistent. However, it's great that we do have so much midfield competition. At the end of the day, as long as the job gets done, I don't mind who partners Vieira. For the past 7 games, the man doing that job as well as ever has been Gilberto. Arsene wouldn't paly him otherwise. Simple as.

Moving on, predictions for Rosenborg lads?

It's going to be tough. I'd say 2-1 or 2-0. Either that or we completely demolish them.

I'm just not sure about Gilberto. I've given him lots of room to draw my appraisal but every time he just fails. I cringe when i watch him on the ball, him, Cygan and Lauren. Look at what he does with it. He always does something to annoy me (usually a short slow 5 yard pass to another player then just stands there) and i think he is just imbalanced with the other members of the team. However, there must be something being done right and we are winning so i'm not complaining, just an observation.

We are due another breakout game in Europe like the Inter game last year, I can feel it. 4-1 Arsenal tomorrow.

Only just caught the back of this Gilberto discussion, but I am sure we have been here before sometime last season.

Gilberto is a quality player no doubt, Wenger obviously rates him and who am I to argue! However, I prefer Edu myself to partner Vieira. He just does everything Gilberto does but better. I would have Edu in the side over Gibert everytime. In fact I would bet that most of my mates who I sit with on the Clock would agree. I like Fabregas, but he needs wrapping in cotton wool and used sparingly, its easy to forget he's still only 17.

It just shows you though what a great time we are having at the moment, if the "Gilberto\Edu\Fabregas to partner Vieira" is our main problem in the team.

As for tonight, then 1-0 to us would do me.

i think gilberto is a handy player to have but i don't think he's vital. when edu, fabregas or vieira plays they usually make some kind of impact, while you never even really notice gilberto. yeah he makes the odd tackle but which central midfielder doesn't?

you goons definitely need to find someone to score regularly in champs league. rooney maybe?
emmm..there's only been a couple of games so far. Regularly? Are you a Manc? You might need a few points in the league.

Haha Thanks for that. Yes Gunnerglory well spotted, you can always tell a Manc cos he calls us Goons. Anyway, Rooney has played 1 Champions League game, he's hardly a regular player let alone a regular scorer.

What a toothless display!!

With such an excellent start, we were all over the shop - you could sense the equaliser coming. Henry was out of sorts, Reyes had a shocker of a game. Think out best players on the night were Cole and Toure.

Lehmann was still flapping at corners. He makes me so freakin' nervous. We definitely missed Bergy. Why oh why can't someone just knock him on the head like B.A. Baracus from A Team and then take him along.

Fair is fair, it wasn't a foul on Edu before they equalised, but Campbell shouldn't have put Edu under that pressure with a rubbish ball... just hoof the bitch Sol!!

Oh well, 2 points dropped when we obviously should have bagged the 3, but when u really start playing after the other team qualifies, you are always against it. Oh well, at least we're 3 points better off than we were at this stage last season.

i didn't think that it was too bad of a display. and i thought henry had a good game, but your right on reyes. also lehmann looked surprisingly comfortable. just my opinion.

You really should get another hobby because all that bitterness will be the death of you. How about fly fishing in rural Ireland?

I just raed an article on ArsenalAmerica speaking about the chronic lack of effort Thierry Henry has been showing in games this season. I for one have always wondered why a player who played virtually every game last campaign, went to the Euros and freatured in every game France played, and took part in preseason has not been given a spell of rest by The Professor. Ive noticed, this season, that his tenacity is down, focus somewhat reduced, and he geneally does not challenge defenders for loose balls, headers, or simply make a nuisance of himself when it is time for team defence. He always strolls back after being offside, and is easily irritated by any not so perfect pass he is unable to latch onto. I really feel like he should be rested for the next two upcoming games and unleashed against the Scum come #50 unbeaten.

Very very good point, Ive noticed these things too. I thought he was actually awful in the last four games at the end of last season, while we had the title wrapped up, he looked like he was saving himself for the Euros.
I think he should be rested.

He must be fooked, he rarely gets rested (or injured)

Now you's have got Pires back and Reyes is used to the league maybe Wenger will rest him.

No talk in here about the Lauren/Vieira tiff then . . .

Seems all is not rosy in the highbury dressing room (or should that be team bus?) after all . .

this is my favourite bit:

The two arguing players were then reportedly asked to sit apart on the team coach after the situation had been defused.

Just like at school :mrgrenn:

This sort of thing happens all the time in football, very rarely does it get in the press. It just shows how much the boys want to win. Things like this usually make the team spirit even stronger.

Charlton tomorrow, lets hope we continue our amazing league run.

You obviously don't watch Arsenal that much as he has been like this for a couple of years now. Ever since he was labelled "The worlds best player" he has become more and more aloof on the pitch, I think he is starting to believe his own press.

He could stroll around the pitch all day for all I care. He's joint top scorer in the league and we are top of the league, until statistics show otherwise, I won't question his work ethics.

who scored today?

oh yeah a question bout reyes, is he left footed? i've seen i'm play and he looks comfortable with is left as with the right!
just a doubt i need clearing!
:)

Ljungberg 33,
Henry 48, 69,
Reyes 70.

Bergkamp hit the post but he set up Freddie to put the Gunners ahead with a cool left-foot finish.

Henry doubled the lead with a cheeky finish, outrageously back-heeling the ball past Dean Kiely from eight yards with his back to goal.

Jose Reyes set up Henry for a sizzling third and Reyes made it 4-0 with a fierce drive after Bergkamps lay-off.

It should have been 3 more, but Reyes, after twisting out the defenders in the penalty box, tried to lift it with his weaker right foot, and he did just that - lifted it over! Then Pennant, who had a good display since coming on for Freddie, lined up Vieira, but Kiely managed to save that as well. Van Persie also had an effort ruled offside.

You see Henry after his 2nd goal when he was walking over to Jose?

Arrogance, but he deserves to be... love it
