Even as a Man Utd fan, I'm starting to feel for you guys. Its kinda like how I felt when Beckham left but this is worse IMO.
You could get Maniche but he aint no Vieira.

well sorry but please dont make out Nicky Butt could cover Viera!!!!!!

Theirs only one V I E R A !!!!!!!!!

Shit I hope he doesnt leave :(

BBC reports his personel deal is done and its just down to Arsenal to agree a fee.

The only other person id like is maybe someone like davids to come in or seedorf.

Seriously hate Real Madrid now, hope them bastards win nothing again.......

The point is that Butt is available fairly cheaply and could do a job for us short term until Wenger works his magic again. I am just trying to suggest a solution to a fecking shitty problem. Your solution of Davids is crap, he has signed for Inter and Seedorf would cost a lot and is unlikely to leave Milan for us.

Butt is proven Premiership player with bags of big game experience, especially in Europe. I feel he could do a job for us.

PS Its Vieira not "Viera"

Butt for Arsenal? I think you are still stuck in Rocastle's era...Nicky has signed for newcastle. If Vieira leaves you lot,a massive player will be needed to cover up that maaaaaaaaaasive hole in midfield.

Butt hasn't signed yet so thats my point. If Vieira's going then we should be in for Butt as a replacement. But ManUre would probably never sell him to us.

If Vieira does go Wenger will spend the money they get wisely as he always has done

I wouldnt worry too much if i was an Arsenal fan

Roy Keanes just as influential for manyoo and hes gonna be off after this season and they wont be getting 30mil for him

All this talk of Wenger working his magic, he'll be off at the end of the current season as well, so it will have to be extra powerful magic

I honestly think if the goons get Maniche in it will give them an extra dimension, yeah he might not be as good as Paddy defending, but he can do that job and he is far better going forward, imo . . . i think it will just mean that whoever plays alongside him will also have to work hard at defending, especially in europe.

Arsenal 0-0 River.
I dunno wat to say it was kinda interesting watching some of the new guns. Van Persie and Almunia seem like good purchases. Reyes got man of the match but didnt perform amazingly, and Bergkamp came close with two late chances.

I think it is highly unlikely that Vieira will be leaving the CHAMPIONS. I just wish he'd quash these rumours early doors rather than letting the papers make up all the bullshit they need to sell papers.

A friend of a friend who over heard Vieira's gardener in the pub the other other day quotes are just a loadf of toss.

He has a couple of days left before the champions league qualifying deadline is up. If he hasn't gone by then (which is highly unlikely) he probably wont be going at all.

Now for something a little more positive, REYES IS SHIT HOT!!!!!! man of the tournament in Holland and he seems to have plenty of confidence, lets hope some of the pressure comes off of Titi's shoulders this season.

Yeah but why does he think he stands a better chance with Real, they came 4th in their league last year, have to qualify for the tournament and only manged to get to the same stage as we did.

But they have a proven track record in the CL, thats why he has more chance with REAL than the goons.

We haven't before but I don't see why that is relevant to who will win it this year?

Can you only win the champions league now if you've won it before?

No, but you said Real arent more likely to win the CL, on previous performances i say they are . . .Theyve been there and done it. . .do you think Spurs have as much a chance of winning the EPL as Arsenal? No, because you know theyve done it before.

But Chelsea haven't won the league for longer than spurs but they're in with a shout, I don't see your logic.

Chelsea have proven quality, players that have done it before with a different club, Carvalho, Makelele, Kezman, Drogba . . . .anyway i was jsut trying to prove a point you obviously are too arrogant to see. Why do you think Arsenal are favourites, or one of them, to win the CL, when they havent been doing it before? Where is your logic????

What the HELL are you talking about? This is the greatest load of bull I've ever heard in my life. Greece just won the European Championships. Now you're going to turn around and say that Arsenal couldn't possibly be a favorite for the CL because they haven't "been doing it" before? What the fuck are you talking about? I can't believe you'd put up an arguement as stupid as this. And where did Nickybaker ever say he thought Arsenal were "favorites' to win the CL? That's not what he said. Where's your logic loz???

Its not about who is favourite GG, i didnt mean favs thats a typo, we are talking about who are more likely to win the CL, i believe Real Madrid are more likely than you lot, but at the end of the day thats just my opinion, so dont start getting all stroppy. . . .

And yes i know that Greece won the Euro's and Porto won the CL, but in my eyes Greece are the exception that proves the rule, you need a proven track record to win the competition.

This doesnt mean you have to have won the CL before to win it, but i think that if you have, and it wasnt too long ago they did, they gives you more of an advantage.

Emmm..I knew that loz, i knew that.

But

a) Nickbaker never said Arsenal were favorites. You said:
"Why do you think Arsenal are favourites, or one of them, to win the CL"
which seemed like absolute nonsense to me at the time.

b)
do you think Spurs have as much a chance of winning the EPL as Arsenal? No, because you know theyve done it before.
also seemed like nonsense in light of Greece (of all teams) winning the European championships.

However, I've questioned you on that and you've explained it realtively well, i'm content with that. Anyways, why wouldn't Arsenal have as good chance as Real with Real coming 4th and Arsenal coming 1st in their respective leagues. Does your track record really overshadow the achievement and ability of your current team by such a huge margin? And my money wouldn't be on Chelsea, I have yet to see a team that's thrown together at the last minute do anything special no matter how much money is spent on them. Look at the money that was pumped into that team last year and they still done jackshit achievement-wise.

I'd rate Chelsea as being our biggest competitors. Mourinho, for all the arrogance he has, is a innovative good-thinking manager and will do well. Again though, it'll take at least till Christmas for the new players to settle in and that could be too late. Hopefully.

As for the CL, we came so close last year after buying one major player: Jens. This summer has been our busiest since 2001 and with the two major signings we've made; Van Persie and Flamini, we'll only get better. I expect both to be rotated but they will be vital. Last year, we tended to lose steam near the latter stages of the CL a bit - the tiredness was showing. Van Persie, in particular, I have been extremely impressed with. He's got the full bag of skills and is going to be one of Wenger's best bargain buys. He'll provide Pires some much needed competition. Moreover, there's Reyes too, who's another that's shined in pre-season. He's bulked during the off-season and his dribbling skills are really starting to show. He should have a great season.

All I hope for now is that we land Trabelsi to round off this high-sprirted, balanced side.

I agree STR mate, but feel that you can never right off United. I feel it will be a 3 way fight for the title, but think this is our best chance of retaining it that we have had so far.

Like you say we have added quality to our squad which should bode well for Europe too. Not too sure about Trabelsi though, we do need a right back but he seems like a trouble maker and a money grabber. We need players who want to play and fight for the shirt. Is Trabelsi that man?

Hoyte has impressed me when I have seen him, lets save the money in transfer market and give this guy a go at right back.

The Champions League Final is in the Ätätürk Stadium in Istanbul isnt it ? Guess Bergkamp wont fancy the 2 night journey will he ?

I had those doubts too about Trabelsi but the stories coming out have said his injury hampered his medical and that's a major part of why he hasn't signed yet. Nobody except the people in the higher excelons of the club know though, and they're keeping quiet, so I guess we'll see how it goes.

I agree about Hoyte. I think he's amazing. And, I don't use that term lightly when refering to our youths. I think he'll definitely be in the Arsenal squad within the next couple of years. One thing I'm uncertain of is his what his final, main postion will be. I think he was used extensively as a RB last season but this pre-season he's started a few games in the centre with Senderos and they have looked an excellent partnership. Hoyte reminds me so much of Kolo without the power. He's got pace, neat dribbling, a great head, chases every ball and as I said before, is versatile. He's black too, of course.

I'd still like Trabelsi to come though because he's world-class plain and simple. He won the award for best attacking player at the African Cup of Nations in a competition including the likes of Okocha, Eto'o etc. He'd be a great asset to our club - especially in Europe. I'd like to see him come and maybe drop Lauren to the bench to become a squad player in midfield and defense. Then Hoyte could get some games as back-up in the league (he'll probably play most in the League Cup), hoepfully, making the step-up to a permanent in the squad by next season. Part of me thinks it does seem a harsh break for Lauren if that does happen considering he didn't really do much wrong at all last season. I think he was even in the PL team of the season. The other half of me thinks we shouldn't pass up getting one of the best full-backs in the world for £4 million.

I can't believe so many people don't know how to spell V I E I R A. Even long time Arsenal fans.

90% of the people spell Viera.

I wouldn't like Trabelsi to come. I don't like him. His attitude has been horrible in the past few months.

And I really like Lauren.

We haven't sold all our tickets yet for the Community Shield and quite frankly its embarassing. We have loads of fans moaning that they can't get tickets to see the boys yet when they are available they are not snapped up.

So if you fancy going to Cardiff on sunday, get your tickets quick. See Arsenal.com for details.

Hope to see you there....

same happened last year, it looked quite sad seeing our end full and about 12, actually it was the same at the semi final at Villa park aswell...

where are all these extra thousands of fans for the new stadium??

I got offered tickets for the Community Shield from my Arsenal supporting mate, but I'd have been sitting in the Arsenal end. :| I refused, fuck that, I'd get killed!
