Anth's FC24 Gameplay Mod

I have to say that I think now EAFC is a better game than PES 21. I have been modding and playing pes for over 3 years and the gameplay and all round package can’t get to this level. For those who haven’t tried it once you get the settings right EAFC is great. I hope that some of the excellent modders here will start to do faces, stadiums, adboards etc for EAFC as I think efootball is such dross and always will be. For all the EA haters (and I was one!) you really need to give this a try and combined with FIFER mod it is superb.

This isn't a comparison thread, but at the risk of taking it off-topic, I've been going through this journey myself over the past week or so.

(Essay incoming, sorry.)

I know exactly what you mean re: PES 2021. The latest Holland mod for it is sensational, honestly, in terms of balancing the physics, responsiveness and defensive response - I've really enjoyed playing it again. But...

...I don't think it's possible to remove the dreaded 1v1 coding that both EA and Konami added in a response to online players' complaints about "AI defending" (and the aims have simply changed - from making a football game that represents all 22 players at once, to a game that only cares about the 2 nearest to the ball, in order to shut up the moaners who say "you only beat me because the AI helped you" - play a 1v1 shooter or something then).

With that being the case, in PES 2021, the pitch feels like it's miles wide, with acres of space all the time and it being far too easy to go from defence to attack in the blink of an eye (even if you play manual).

The only "fix" for the AI is for modders to 1) make the opponent press you constantly, which is a very binary response that's a poor experience and easy to bypass by simply passing quickly, or 2) implement "fluid formations" to try and force players into defensive positions - but this has no relation to where the ball is, so you just have players running into their designated zones for no purpose.

EAFC has the same core issue (with "Hypermotion" skewering a virtual pole through the defensive line and moving them in perfect sync barring the 1v1 code kicking in, which looks, and feels, like some weird cartoon table football game).

@Anth James' mod for EAFC does a hell of a lot of work to move multiple players out towards the ball carrier and block off passing options, which just doesn't happen with PES 2021. Combine that with his physics work, and you have a game that is (in my opinion) categorically better than PES 2021.

Like you, I would never (ever) have said that last year. It's entirely thanks to Anth I can play EAFC and enjoy it for what it is.

That said - going back to FIFA 16 (but only with Anth's ball physics / speedhack mod via Cheat Engine 7.5)...

I would beg everyone in this thread, even if you've played it before and got bored of it... Try it again and just remind yourself of what we've lost.

It's easy to forget just how much fun it is when the AI pushes defenders ball-side to stop your progression, and when defensive players are allowed to move independently from everyone/everything else, truly forcing you to pass sideways/backwards in order to find an opportunity.

It's an entire gameplay feature (as important as passing and shooting) that's been deleted from the game, from FIFA 19/20 onwards. Anth's mods do as much as humanly possible to add it back, but for as long as the 1v1 code exists, I can still far-too-often hit a couple of passes and have a striker ready to shoot at the edge of the box - or run from box-to-box down the wing without being impeded in any way - without having to think about what I'm doing at all.

Finally...

@Anth James - if it wasn't for the thousands of hours you've poured into modding down the years (everything from camera placements to physics changes)...

You've given me personally so many hours of joy that I wouldn't have otherwise had - versus the AI, against my football gaming friends, even with my old dad (who I've recently been playing a 1966 World Cup with in FIFA 16 using your unbelievable mods).

Without your mods, I just wouldn't be able to play any of these games any more. Not even FIFA 16, but especially not EAFC.

This community owes all the modders that post here a massive thank you, for using their free time to produce things for others to enjoy.

But for me personally, it's your work that's given me the most hours of joy - thank you for everything you've done over the years, and if EA ever decide to ditch 1v1 and make a team game again, I hope you're still a part of the "scene" because I know you'll make everything as realistic (and fun) as it can be.

Would it be possible to correct and balance errors based on player characteristics? I can see where you want to advance the gameplay and the idea is really good. However, there are too many inconsistencies in the gameplay. Example a defender with 60 passes often misses simple lateral passes.
Defender subject to no pressure from the opponent.
The idea is certainly worth refining. I picked up v14 because I remember enjoying TU8. Then v15 on tu9 impression of rapid past. I ran v14 tu9 + your patch again and immediately liked it again.

EA are very lucky than many people like football and used their freetime to tweak the game. Because without the community, the game is purely unplayable.

Thanks you so much Anth's and all the mod community for your hardworking, your passion. I hope i will access for the forth year in a row to the beta of EAFC25 to share you some details.
EAFC24 was very nice and I pray than offline career will be still there.

It’s incredibly complicated to get this aspect to have a tangible impact when there are so, so many variables in game. Personally I don’t find that many occasions at all when players play passes stray for no reason under no pressure. There are also other contextual factors in the system I have implemented like speed, balance, angle, the type of pass and of course pressure, so it’s based on many aspects. I know it happens randomly on occasion and I’m refining it, but it’s an extremely delicate line that changes based on a number of things. Trust I’m doing my best with this, and I always said it would need some refining over time.

Also, in the Full Gameplay Package, there is an option to play with a version that has LESS errors, and also an option that has default errors.

@Anth James whats all inside the latest v16 full package? Are there other GPs like V14/V15?
And whats happend with the price? 🤣 when i purchased in December i only had to pay little bit more than 4€ and now its doubled?
I’ve listed everything in the full gameplay package so far on my patreon post. I’m going to be adding to it as well in the coming week(s).

The original tier features the current version of the mod, as it always has. The ‘full gameplay package’ price hasn’t changed since I introduced it at all.

I introduced this as a way of being able to offer a number of options and variations to people based on different tastes. It’s a lot of additional time and effort to adjust and create all of these options. I’ve offered it so those who want it can access it. There’s no pressure or obligation at all. You still have access to the current version I’m working on in the main tier if that’s what you’re after.

People’s interpretation of ‘realism’ is incredibly broad, so I’m trying to provide as much as I can for everyone. It’s an active, ongoing process that takes up many hours in a week, I’m not just re-exporting something I’ve already created months or years ago.

Personally, I'm loving V16. It's my favorite version so far! :TU:

The thing I've liked the most about V16 is the delicate balance that has been achieved between midfield density and dribbling freedom. In my opinion, one of the major flaws of Vanilla FC24 is how end to end it is, leading to an insane amount of shots, and pressure is often unrelenting. In my view, V16 fixes this!

I've played several exhibitions with medium teams (Torino), and also lower-ranked teams (K-League), and the results have been great. Lower shot counts (semi everything, 10 minute halves, World Class). It's harder to reach the box, which leads to a more realistic pace of the game, BUT at the same time, there is space to breathe and dribble, while still retaining a challenge in terms of pressing.

I really don't know how you did it, Anth, but I am finding V16 (with all of its different versions, available on Patreon), to be your best work yet. This delicate balance, IMO, has been really achieved. It is free yet dense at the same time. It really is a work of passion and dedication.

Also, there are "medium" and "slow" versions for those who find default too frantic, as well as many add-ons and different characteristics and gameplay options over at Anth's Patreon. I truly commend you my friend, for your tireless excellent work and love of the game to making FC24 great! :BSCARF:

Wow guys, thank-you so much for all of your kind words. I really appreciate it.

It's great to hear that the work is improving the gameplay experience for you. I know it's a tough battle at times, but it means a lot that you guys are able to enjoy the game(s) more now!

Hopefully lots more to come as well!!

The Options are noteable @SmichiW . No offense to you, but I can and will confirm that. The time how it takes to create the different and additional options must be enormous for Anth. I always wonder if he have enough time to enjoy his work not only for testing - adjusting-testing - adjusting and spend some matches for his own pleasure. 😄

You will find other animations in walk and run style, other than the default modded animations from his main mod. Passing speed options, default Pressing addon, movement speed isolation options. I would lie if I say I have tested every single and possible combo for just creating your complete own and individual gameplay style. I leave a screenshot for viewing the multiple options. Inside of the folders there are still more options. And yes it effects the gp as well. To be able to have such options is imo completely new in FIFA gp modding. I read often comments can you improve this and that , please make it even more realistic etc. Yes here we go, he try this and imo incredibly great with not stopping to find out what could be achievable for us. We can always stay with the base Patreon Package which is also packed with options. No need to try every addon. But imo it’s worth especially for people who make much and of course constructive criticism. That is of course important for Anth too. And as I know him all the years now he will not let it be to push out the Gameplay possibility’s like a citrus 🍊. Last but not least: I see over there at fifainfinity from time to time new gp modders who getting over with his first ever mod right to Patreon and sell it. Anth do mods for free since many years for the community included his great work on FIFA 16 and last season for FIFA 23. I wouldn’t play still Fc24 without his work.

There are readme´s in every folder as well. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

Always not save related to that point... unfortunetly... Nice when I could help you with an little overview of the content in the mod. I can recommend the "Touch" Version which I tested today for a couple of Matches. Really smooth gameplay and animations and collisions are again super improved.
I will leave my impressions now with a little review in the thread here.

PS: This is a part (complete read me of the new features is bigger sized), from the default v.16 Gameplay features list which introduces the changes from v.15 to v.16. If your interested in here is the part of the features description which I find perfect on the tin by Anth:

SOURCE FROM ANTH´S GAMEPLAY V.16 README FILE:

There has been a huge amount of work done for this version to create a much bigger difference
in both ON and OFF ball abilities.

This includes:

+ Passing - The biggest single feature of this version.

Passing is much more dependent on stats - and also, context (ability, body position, pressure etc).
Don't expect to play out of a press with low rated players/teams now. Alternatively, 'press resistant' players
stand out much more, and are cool under pressure.
You can't just play laser guided passes at any angle now - you have to take care of the ball.

This is scaled based on stats also, meaning you really have to think about who is in possession.

This really impacts your tactical approach and adds a real layer of depth to the gameplay.

+ Dribbling & Sprinting - is much more fluid and precise in general now.

However, this also means dribbling with the right players in tight spaces is now very viable.
You still need to take of the ball - but sprinting/carrying the ball with technical, fast players can also be deadly now.

If you try dribbling with the wrong players though, don't expect it to go well.

Further to this, fouls are now more opened up due to this change in dribbling.

(Please note that fouls is a longer, more complex conversation - if you want to have it DM me).

+ Off-ball positional awareness - There is a now a tangible difference between higher rated and lower rated teams regarding their ability to
position, mark and press.

+ Balance - players are no longer knocked off the ball as easily - especially players with good balance.

+ Athleticism - A clear difference between faster and slower players.

+ Stamina - Don't expect to be able to press all game with players of low stamina/workrate.

+ Shooting - More variety in shooting with deadly finishes a lot more dangerous now - but everyone can still miss!

+ Style of play - Teams like Man City will play more one touch passes. Dribblers will carry the ball more now etc.

+ Weak foot ability - you have to think more about using your players dominant foot for players who aren't very technical.

+ Other areas which can be more subtle, such as player traits being more noticeable etc!

Played V.16 "Touch" - Worldclass Level - 2x8 Minutes - FUMA today

- soft ball feeling, very natural ball movement depends on how fast or how less you push the x button
- Collision matters, Players falling over another when they too hard collide, my Ps5 DualsSense Controller vibrates at every 1on1 Tackling
- great amount of interceptions possible on both sides. Cool to see the AI do "humanized" passing errors, even on Legendary Level.
AI covers greatly free spaces but sometimes I discover a whole and can greatly pass with a through ball. But no senseless
"wholes in the AI defense". It´s more how I create an attack. wHen I build a good one I will be deserved with a little free space. Same on my defense. The none controlled teammates trying to cover the Space which the AI tries to create in the front of my box or inside.
Anth greatly improves the jockey speed which is one of the major improvements imo. Over the benefit for the AI when I try to jockey on the wings with my defender and AI overruns me the most of time, even when I try to catch the winger up again.

And the animations by controlling the ball of my Players and the AI looks again much smoother imo. Much more natural and not so edgy. :D

Related to "personalized Players ID skills": Played in Serie A where the teams are subjective equal on that point. (Atalanta vs Roma and Milan vs Sassuolo). I had the feeling in Premier League the ID related attempt had an deeper impact between Top Teams like City when I am playing against them with Fulham. Was really exhausting to trying to get the ball from their Players. Again, very realistic impression here.
Will play next time some lower League Matches in german 3. Liga and English lower League structure. Curious about the behaviour with Players around with not so much blessed skills. :D

Another strong one, @Anth James
Amazing, the Game is now transformed imo for 90% away from the clunky default FC 24.

Hi mate, how did you activate the controller vibration feature with Dualsense on PC? I'm using ReWASD to support my PS5 controller but I never get any vibration feedback in my game.

Hi Mate, I did it exact the same way like you! I am also using rewasd software and switch the Profile for the controller to „Xbox 360“. My DualSense didn’t work well in older FIFA‘s when I leave him on „DualSense“. But it shouldn’t make a difference between related to the vibration function. Do you test vibration on your controller via rewasd menu with the DualSense icon shown in the left bottom corner of the controller menu? Should vibrate when you hitting the icon. Than I apply on the left button and that‘s it. Controller vibrates in game. I often read it’s necessary to connect the DualSense with an cable to your Pc but for me it’s working fine without cable just via Bluetooth. I am sure you are familiar with rewasd and you tried the options but I can send you a screenshot soon from my menu where I mentioned. Currently on my phone but inside the next hour I am back home on my computer.

PS: I mean the menu where you also can adjust and choose another LED lightning for the controller.

Thanks, yeah I'm using the dual sense on its default config in reWASD. Also yeah when I click the vibrate button in the interface to test, that works too but not ingame. I'll try setting it to 360 and see how I grt on when I also get home.

But don´t think all my games are working with Controller vibration. It´s kinda if the Dual Sense is in the mood he let me play other games too with vibration support. 😆
But since FIFA 23 it works well together with FC 24. My older Dual shock 4 doesn´t provide that function although I can hit the Vibration test button in rewasd.

PS: What you can additionally do is check your windows bluetooth Version. I am sure you are having bluetooth version 5.0 on your PC running. Open your "device manager" in windows search bar or windows settings and click on Bluetooth in the list. Search for your bluetooth adapter. It can have another name like mine which you can see on my screenshots. Than right-click on your adapter and click advanced. The Number which starts after LMP is the one you must looking for. Check the list in my screenshot where the different bluetooth versions are listed. Mine is LMP 9 xxxx. Means I am on bluetooth Version 5.0. Should be important to have the vibration function work via bluetooth. If you below v.5.0 by any means you can update your bluetooth driver also with right click on the adapter.

Thanks for uploading! Unfortunately, I have a download limitation so I was wondering if perhaps you could re-upload it on Google Drive?

Thanks a lot. :)

V17 is out on Patreon!

One feature I've been working on is the angle of tackling and creating more purposeful approach when thinking about your press. It's a really tricky one to get right, but I'm having a lot more fouls when tackling or even running into players from behind which really makes the off ball experience more deep as you can no longer just mindlessly run into players and take the ball. Again, very tricky and not a perfect science yet but progress is solid.

Here's a few examples. This first one wasn't even a tackle, it was just silly approach play. Kind of like how PES 2020 demo was for those who remember!

Also, this goal is a decent example of another feature of V17.

You can actually move defences around now, especially easier to teams of lower quality than the very elite. Before I think the scale wasn't quite right as I had to bring up defence so much from default, but it was too difficult to move around and find gaps against teams who weren't quite as good as you.
