I found the opposite, the keepers seemed a lot better on 1-on-1's. Keepers seemed much better in general to be honest.

This is the problem with FIFA. I think people are blinded by the "perfect" animations, I know I was. Strip them away and you have the old FIFA more or less.

"Strip them away and you have the old FIFA more or less". Agree in 100%.It's definitely the best FIFA yet though (whether that counts for much is up to you guys). For me it's a decent package as a whole. The gameplay is just a tweaked FIFA 10 with a lot better presentation. Not bad for £25 really, at the worst it'll keep you entertained till the real thing.
Tried the game and in love with it.
A question for you that are buying it: are you quittin play Fifa 10 now that you have World Cup? I mean, do you think that, like in Winning Eleven tradition, the new one will make the previous chapter just a memory?
I'm shocked at how much attention they've paid to the presentation in the game. It's not 100% perfect, but it's the subtle things that gives it authenticity and a real sense of World Cup fever. Even the qualifiers are authentic. Playing as England in the qualifiers I can choose to follow the realistic path or my own path. I chose the realistic patch and it's brilliant replaying all those qualifying fixtures from all those months ago. You play in the older kits, at Wembley, at night with realistic rainy weather. Then the next fixture was in the daytime away from home. As you progress you get to play in the new kit (as IRL).
I can't stress how much I love the sound in the game. They've nailed the sound effects whether it be the crowd reactions to the play on the pitch to the drumming when playing as or against Brazil, to the sound of the ball hitting the post, net or even adboard. I'm so glad they've improved the cutscenes aswell. It all seems to blend now and it appears there are a lot more in-game rendered reactions.

Good stuff![]()
Presentation through cutscenes, sound and general atmosphere is miles better than PES, than any football game. It just recreates it so well.
PES is still leaps ahead with regards to showing replays at the right times, the right camera angles and celebrations though.

Was thinking about presentation and replays/celebrations the other day and how they could fix it. I came up with a very simple solution to make it all more lifelike: Just shoot all the cutscenes as if they have been filmed in real life.
So none of the "low cam near the waist looking up at the players" nonsense, no goal replays that "you are a midget standing on the pitch looking up Gerrard's arse while he takes a freekick" crap. None of the weird half high sweeps or running alongside the player stuff. Only make replays and celebrations from a real perspective.
I find it amazing that they haven't done this. Surely it's an essential element to recreate the atmosphere.

I didn't play a game of it yesterday so I've only had the one night. Although in that night I played a friendly and finished a World Cup.
It's better than FIFA 10 with regards to gameplay. But I'd still rather play PES if I had to choose between the two.
That's my main issue as to why I wont buy this, it's bound to be tighter than 10 and after a few games 10's issues will seem far bigger but how many times can you play the WC over and over and over...

Depends which stage Dags "finished" the World Cup![]()
Where did you get it from for £25 Matt? Trade-in bringing down the value or are Morrisons selling early??
You keeping FIFA 10 for clubs?
, but I'm seriously considering trading FIFA 10 in for it on the PS3 for the online. That's my main issue as to why I wont buy this, it's bound to be tighter than 10 and after a few games 10's issues will seem far bigger but how many times can you play the WC over and over and over...
He referred to winning it earlier mate.
To me the lastability is there cause I'll go different teams, different Control options, and different playing styles and formations.
It'll defo keep me going until FIFA 11.
I'm guessing Dags just did the finals though. You can choose to do the full tournament with qualifications and everything, which is quite mammoth. I'm wondering whether there will be friendlies later on. You can also choose to play with multiple teams in a single campaign if you wish.
I'm referring to Morrisions who are selling it for £25 on launch day, no doubt others will follow suit. My copy is a 'special' copy me hearties, but I'm seriously considering trading FIFA 10 in for it on the PS3 for the online.
That's the bit I'm dreading! Hate assisted dicks (as you are well aware) and I can see this being full of them as I imagine The World Cup will be against randoms. By that I mean you won't be able to set tournies up v online "mates".
The tossers will just wreck the experience. I've found one random game on non assist in all my time playing 10. Thank god for the little community we have elsewhere. It doesn't seem like many are going to get it from AV so bit stumped. I can see me getting in the end though.
