2010 FIFA World Cup

That's the bit I'm dreading! Hate assisted dicks (as you are well aware) and I can see this being full of them as I imagine The World Cup will be against randoms. By that I mean you won't be able to set tournies up v online "mates".

The tossers will just wreck the experience. I've found one random game on non assist in all my time playing 10. Thank god for the little community we have elsewhere. It doesn't seem like many are going to get it from AV so bit stumped. I can see me getting in the end though.

Get on TAMFA (follow the link in my signature) then, I'll organize a FIFA WC 2010 full-manual tournament for sure in about 10~ days.

Also, just got the game and it's great, dunno wtf is wrong with all the haters.

Sure it's far from perfect and there's plenty of room for improvements but seriously, it's a pretty solid game and EA (miracolously) managed to fix many of the problems that afflicted its predecessor's gameplay (off the top of my head...you can now reliably score on 1 on 1's without having to resort to lobs - fucking finally - and shooting feels a lot more realistic and is MUCH more effective and satisfying) can't wait to play it on manual with my friends, it's gonna be a blast.

Morrisons are no longer doing the £25 thing at the moment, the rumour which started on a different forum has now said they are scanning on their till system for £39.99.

Asda are listing it at £34.91 at the moment so unless someone goes £25 I certainly wont be buying not paying £35 to play one tournament I can create customly in Fifa 10.

Will do. Cheers.

I noticed the link before as even though I can't hit a barn door I feel in this day and age we should playing the game and not letting the AI do all the work. I need to finish off some semi-assisted leagues (was a compromise) I'm in and I'll definately look into joining up.

It's a tomorrow only offer though isn't it?
So maybe the price will update for tomorrow. Time will tell.

Forget the talk of money for this now!

Just checked my Tesco DVD rental and it's on it's way. Happy days.

Said I'd have a long wait for it. I e-mailed them asking what the allocation procedure is and the response I had was all apologetic and offered me an extra DVD! Didn't know what the hell he was on about to be honest. I only asked a question. Looks as though he sorted it for me though.

loving this its the subtle changes.

animations have been improved, the presentation is awesome and the goalkeepers are different gravy.

really enjoying it, its fun to play

I'm shocked at how much attention they've paid to the presentation in the game. It's not 100% perfect, but it's the subtle things that gives it authenticity and a real sense of World Cup fever. Even the qualifiers are authentic. Playing as England in the qualifiers I can choose to follow the realistic path or my own path. I chose the realistic patch and it's brilliant replaying all those qualifying fixtures from all those months ago. You play in the older kits, at Wembley, at night with realistic rainy weather. Then the next fixture was in the daytime away from home. As you progress you get to play in the new kit (as IRL).

I can't stress how much I love the sound in the game. They've nailed the sound effects whether it be the crowd reactions to the play on the pitch to the drumming when playing as or against Brazil, to the sound of the ball hitting the post, net or even adboard. I'm so glad they've improved the cutscenes aswell. It all seems to blend now and it appears there are a lot more in-game rendered reactions.

I think this is pretty spot on. I got the game last night after reading some early reviews and have to say it's frakkin' awesome. I traded in FIFA 10 months ago because it was the worst pile of crap I've ever played. This game is so much better.

A few points... Atmosphere, which ruined FIFA 10 for me, is class. They actually have the USA team chants (the few there are) spot on and even the look and feel of the stadiums they would play in. As posted above, the ball clanging off the post or the ball hitting the net sounds a lot better now.

Gameplay - sure there are still some issues, but I am not joking when I say the gameplay has improved greatly. There are still issues with stamina and pace (like Blanco of Mexico who is slow as molasses sprinting down the field and beating Landon Donovan) but overall it feels better.

So I am playing Mexico and they have a PK. I dive right and the kicker clangs the shot off the left post which then bounces back towards my keeper and hits him in the back and goes in. Classic and have never seen it in a game.

Another piece of build up play and I get into the box and think "I'll just place this in the bottom left" and what happens? A defender makes a last ditch lunge and clears the ball off the line. Not to mention my keeper making crazy double saves, etc.

Oh, did I mention injuries? After my first game I already had one player out 3 weeks after a training injury and another out for 1 week due to a thigh strain.

I was as disgusted with FIFA 10 as anyone around but this game is much better. If they can incorporate the atmosphere, injuries, etc FIFA 11 will be golden. Oh, and fatigue and pace...

You can also choose to play with multiple teams in a single campaign if you wish.

But you can't play with teams from different regions I believe? The only fun in doing a multiple team qualification for me would be having different regions, say a Brazil qualification and an England qualification at the same time, then the whole match experience is very different.

Yeah, one region only.

£34.91-£39.99.......thats me out of the race then

Strange. Not sure why they would have done that. Maybe it will get patched?...

EA will only patch fifa games properly when they begins charging for it... While that doesn´t happen we´ll have patches that fixes almost nothing and ridiculous excuses that they can´t patch the game more than 2 times.

So i have no hope for real fixes for Fifa series... too bad they don´t follow NHL exemple.

Doubt it. Personally, I'd get lost playing as more than one team as I like to craft my own tactics and formations and I'd end up getting muddled, but it would be nice to influence the tournament with other teams or at least be able to carry on the campaign if another gets knocked out (with any team not just those in your region).

I wouldn't use the option either. If Wales get knocked (I say if but it's really when), they can't go and play for another country now can they?

If you are knocked out, you are knocked out. End of story in my eyes.

Yikes the celebrations I've seen are embarrassingly bad enough, I'd rather cut off my hands than be sad enough to unlock more!

I'm seeing even less variation in sides and players than in past FIFA titles. Considering how bad this has been it's saying a lot.

I just won my first online match as Samoa vs. Mexico 2-1. I'm mediocre at best and my opponent was obviously no slouch. There is no way in hell this should have even been close. Both sides played essentially identical football.

I've noticed this in qualifying as well. With Germany I had a tougher time at home against Liechtenstein than anyone else I've faced. Worse, the style of play in Germany-Liechtenstein is virtually indistinguishable (for me at least) from Brazil-Cameroon.

Given this there's next to no replay value here for me. Presentation IS top-notch throughout, which only makes it more of a shame.

Not only does the underlying FIFA code need to be "ripped out and redone" as someone said earlier, I'd argue it needs to be taken behind the barn and shot...

Played 10 games or so and just totally frustrated, just another pressure/strength fest, massive gaps being left on the wings, strange how I really got on with the demo though and thought it was a big improvement, will give it a another couple of days and see if I can wrangle a good exciting session out of it, if not it is being traded in and I shall return to my patched PES6.

Great. I just played my first two online WC matches, with both opponents quitting after I took the lead. It's so frustrating. I'm top of my group now with 6 points and a 6-0 goal difference, but where's the fun in that? Also, these games are not logged, so there's no way to know who the quitters are. Or is threre?

Just played a few matches online, after tryng to find anyone playing on slow/manual...

Why do they insist on having the normal 1-on-1 ranked matches played on Medium speed? After watching Barca-Inter for a half and then playing the demo, it is so apparent how hyper the gameplay is even on slow, compared to the real thing.

Also, as soon as I play against Assisted players I just get furious. I need to take some seconds to power up passes, I need to think ahead where I am going to turn so that I can also factor in aiming for the passing, and sometimes passes go astray.

They just hold sprint and mash the A key, and shots are way too pin-point. Also after playing as Sweden on Slow I felt they had finally corrected the way in Fifa10 you could turn 90 degrees left and right over and over rapid-fire style without the player loosing any speed. But as soon as you face an assisted England online it's the same freaking thing as FIFA10. All I want is a proper, non-hyperdrive football match. Should I really need to make it a huge project, hunting down players who are willing to not use Auto-aim or 5-star teams.

And, why is the balance of the game in general favoring defending by sprinting into the ball carrier, while trying to actually jockey and press like in real life is so unresponsive that the attacker needs to do only two moves to have your player fall behind by 5 meters.

I am just about ready to give up, after having the game for a day. I just got Live Gold for 3 months aswell, but I guess Red Dead Redemption will be useful for that.

I am not happy with this. I doubt I will get FIFA 11 if they don't reconsider their approach to this.

after tryng to find anyone playing on slow/manual...

The All Manual FIFA Association website: http://www.tamfa.com/

Plenty of pretty cool and sportsmanlike people there to set-up manual/slow matches/tournaments and an ongoing (huge) league with conferences and playoffs which every 2 seasons culminates into a Champions League with players from both TAMFA and FUMA (a french website which also organizes full-manual leagues).

...why would anyone play with assisted lamers on the online leaderboards is beyond me really...are you sadomasochistic or what?
