2010 FIFA World Cup

Yeah penalties are the best thing about this game. To the people that complain, do you have the Player bar visible so you can see the composure thing? I can understand that people that don't have that visible will find it too hard.

Just go to practise area and activate the penalty indicator so you can see how it works if you still find it too hard. It's a good system, pretty much like PES 2010 but not as sensitive (the aim moves much slower).

My two cents after a week end of intense play:

-The gameplay is solid but they haven't really touched the main issue which for me is crossing. Crossing is horribly scripted and ball physics in the air generally kinda dodgy.

-For some reason i can't explain scoring a goal still does not have the "pes wow feeling". It never makes me jump from the chair.

-Ice skating: less visible than in the previous game but still there

It goes without saying that playing international games bored the hell out of me, i usually only play club football.

In the end i'd say a beautiful game still short of depth and passion.

I rented it and i will rent it some other time, but price tag is pathetic.

It should be a 25 euros game.

PES 2010 is still very raw material but you can see it has all the means to become a fantastic game, fifa is a fantastic game that somehow hasn't got it right yet. Hard to explain though.

Oh dear...what a bug!

Was playing a single match as Scotland and didn't bother going into Squad menu before kick-off as I assumed the match would kick off with the edits to the starting lineup and formation I'd made and saved in edit mode yesterday.

However, as the team formation window was displayed in the graphic just before kick-off, I thought I noticed Kristof Berra (CB) and Alan McGregor (GK!). They weren't supposed to be in my starting line up.

Anyway, the match kicked off, and I was getting the impression that I had very few players in attack. I actually took the lead in a break-away goal, but after about 15 minutes, decided to stop and count the number of players by going into a replay and carefully counting them.

I had only 9 players on the pitch! I had started the match with only 9 players! Berra and McGregor weren't even on the pitch.

Quit the match and went to the Team Edit menu and both Darren Fletcher and James McFadden (both star players)had been erased and replaced with blank named players with ratings of 5 (out of 100).

wtf?

This sort of bug has been in the game since FIFA 10 latest "big" team update (the one that took place after the market window closed) and it apparently carried over to the sequel.

In fact the custom tactic positioning feature is so fucked up that I'm having a very hard time setting up even the easiest formations, constantly ending up with stuff like players missing from the picth/vanishing from the roster menu, weird ratings, players ammassed and stuck in a certain coordinate, the whole team shifted to the right/left portion of the screen, roles options not coming up, etc., really annoying.

I just jumped out of my chair. I just scored with de Rossi a 30 yard dipping volley which i ran on to. Fully manual too.

If only I was on Live to save it......

Ah right. I never touched the formations in FIFA10, so hadn't realised this had history - and they hadn't even bothered to fix it.

And now you mention it, I did wonder before I quit the match if it was just my imagination that I had 3 players all hugging the right touchline with nobody in central midfield.....obviously not.

The AI makes 1000 decisions per second ya know!

Can anyone compare the two console versions of this game? Are there any noticeable differences with graphics quality, slow down, tearing, poor resolution, etc....

Is it faster on one than the other? Response times the same on both or diff? Nets?

Ok I'll spare you the regurgitation of pros and cons, as you could probably already guess what they are.

I just thought I'd point out something that I've not seen mentioned.

Your control of the ball.

The top players can escape wild lunges far better than in Fifa10. Fabregas can get a tackle and still retain the ball if the tackle isn't accurate. I've already done this a few times. So good. Also, when you are tackled, the better players don't do that ridiculously huge stumble that leads to comical too-ing and fro-ing of possesion in midfield.

Another improvement is tackling. I tackled with gerrard near the by-line and not only did he escape cleanly with the ball but he also flicked the ball after the tackle to keep it from rolling out of play. Genius.

The play isn't fast for me. Especially when playing on slow. You can actually build up some decent moves by knocking it about the backline and then hitting the midfield. I've got some vids to upload that display some of the good stuff I've been talking about.

This is definitely the best football game this gen (gameplaywise).

Tis PS3 version mate?

The same gameplaywise, although the PS3 version feels smoother to me. I personally hate the 360 controller for football games and feel it's less responsive than the dual shock 3.

Graphically, the colours are richer and brighter on the 360 version IMO as the PS3 version seems a little more washed out. No tearing on either really, a few texture pops now and again on the 360 though. Jaggies on both in COOP cam.

Loading times are the same really.

I got both, same diferences as in fifa10, xbox has a bit more sharper graphics and deeper shadows but thats about it... the ps3 version feels smoother indeed, but i actually think that feeling comes because of the controller. Im gonna go ps3 this time around, mainly because 99% of my friends are on ps3 nowdays.. dunno whats happening to the 360 here in brazil, but the ps3 seem to be starting to dominate our market.

You know what happened, they´re all offline on 360 now :P

That too :P , but a lot of the guys that went offline sold their 360 and got ps3s...I know a handfull of guys that did this.

Yes sir! you bet.

After watching some vids, graphics do look nicer on 360, but PS3's gameplay looks smoother and less stiff.

This problaby in my head, but for some reason(and its not the controller) i do enjoy playing on the ps3 more... dunno, but i seem to score nicer goals, more long rangers and a wider variaty of plays in general.... again, im not saying at all that the ps3 has better goal variaty and none of this BS, just saying something that happens to me.

Btw i hated the ps3 controller because the analog stick position(I had to actually use the d-pad)...
got me one of this and im settled now :D (higly recomend it for plp that dont like the ps3 controler scheme, also the controller is rubber revested, really confortable and cheap too 38US):

-STANDING CHALLENGE PENS!!! I had one against the AI the other day dribbling with Camoranesi, couldn't believe my eyes

-Less ping pongy(???) This could possibly be that I have not yet come up against the cheesers online, but so far from the games I've played they have been extremely enjoyable. Teams seem to not be able to ping the ball around as it seems in this game first time passing has been toned down. I also feel more apt to build up play in midfield though I'm not sure what the major contributing factor is to this... but the game seems slower and minor tweaks have made it close to feeling just right.

-This is probably completely random but playing in random head to head ranked matches I haven't seen the usual 'everyone picks spain' syndrome - I've played against Egypt, Colombia, and some other weaker teams, hope it stays this way cause the games have been great.

Now there are still things missing such as player traits, or the huge difference in passing u should see with players like Pirlo, but overall the game so far has been a pleasant surprise and well worth the $$!

I agree with this whole heatedly. This game reminds me a LOT of FIFA 09... I even had my keeper sent off for two yellows and was shocked. It then walked me through how to change my keeper in the subs screen.

On ping pong - I've played 7 games head to head games online (I play all assisted online because I've tried with semi and get murdered) and have a record of 5-1-1. The opposition is spanking the ball around like in FIFA 10 but it's just not breaking through. I have players step in the way of passes and general cause havoc on the backline. I play as Serbia as well who are strong, not super fast and just play generally well.

Also, I have YET to play against England, Spain, France, Germany, etc. I have played Brazil twice, but otherwise it has been a hell of a lot of fun. Whatever they did, they are moving in the right direction. All FIFA 11 needs is more realism and excitement to MM as well as a few niggling issues to be sorted and it will be a gem.

 Not seen one of those here I'd have to have a go on one as I'm so used to the PS pad now but it would be easier with my bust hand...

I've been playing this on a mate's 360 recently and I have to say I hate the pad. I much, much prefer the position of the left stick (ok for games where you just press forwards anyway but shoddy for precise 360 movement), the length and tips of the sticks, and the triggers are horrid compared to the PS3 ones.

Got mine for 38 US dolars, really worth it if u ask me.. im loving the controler, its robust, the rumble engines are really strong and it doesnt feel like those cheap 3rd parties controllers at all, besides the stick position(main reason i got it) its a lot more confortable and the L2, R2 buttons also have an improved shape(kind of a oposite tilt).

check this review(thats what made me decide and try it)

I agree the tackling is definitely better for YOU as the player, but the AI tackling AGAINST you still has cheats in there and needs fixing.

The amount of times I've been tackled by the last man who hasn't touched the ball at all and has tripped my player and got away with it is ridiculous. There are even instances where the AI player's foot is nowhere near the ball yet he still touches it with 'the force'. Here's an example: He tackles Rooney from behind who is through on goal, gets nowhere near the ball, trips Rooney, yet no foul is called.

Does Altitude affect players in the game? also what stadiums should I select to see this.

I picked this game up half price for the PS3 after trading Fifa 10 and after a day's hammering my initial impressions are:

+ I'm scoring a bigger variety of goals than in previous Fifa games.
+ Heading, particularly on goal, feels more effective.
+ Penalty system is well implemented.
+ In general, all areas of the gameplay have been subtly improved.
+ Commentary is excellent.
+ Atmospheric crowd noise.
+ Stadia, crowd, and especially pitch textures (why don't they look this good in Fifa?) look great.

- All the core gameplay faults still remain (constant sprint pressing, over-physicality, poor AI, lack of tactical variety and player individuality etc......)
- The game needs a custom cup/league mode to add longevity.
- Attention to detail on kits is not good enough for a fully licensed tournament game.

I'm really enjoying the game for what it is, and it gives me the Euro 2008 gameplay feeling again. However, this is in no way a £40 game in my opinion, but for the £19.99 I paid it's very much worth it. Should tie me over until we get nearer to PES2011.

Why do people continue to say they only paid 20 whatever for it when they had to trade in 20 worth of old games? Liverpool fans get ridiculed for saying Johnson only cost 7mil because they were still owed 10mil from Crouch. It's still 17mil.

And the game is still 40pounds. :D

Was hoping to have the game by now, as my parents were over in the UK for some shopping at the weekend (75p for a cheescake in Asda!) but the game was still 40pound in the supermarkets. Guess I'll wait till it goes down or a cheap pre-owned version.

Absolutely, best stadium to see it is La Paz (Bolivia), just played my Brazil world cup qualifier in Bolivia and lost 2-0, players were nackered after 30 mins! Really tough. The ball physics are supposed to be altered as well but my players were so tired I hardly managed any shots to tell!

Question: is there a way to play a Classified Match with a friend?

One of the funniest thing of Fifa 10 imho, was the opportunity to play an online classified match with a friend. I mean a match that that can give you points or take them letting you gain or lose a level.

Now, I cannot find this option anymore.

If I go to Xbox Live - Quick Match - Play with a friend, I can only create a not classified match. This is the same of Fifa 10.
But the alternative in Fifa 10 was to go to Xbox Live - Online Rooms and there create a match that my friend could join. In this way the match was a classified one.

Now in those rooms, I can only create free matches, just friendly, not classified.
Tell me there is a way, please.

Does anyone here play the Online World Cup?

Really good to see you are able to filter for other Manual players.

Loving it.

Except the replay issues, it's still too quick and also too many injuries (at one time I had 7 players out injured for multiple matches which is a bit unrealistic when you consider those multiple matches were during the qualifiers (i.e months at a time)).

Besides that, the best footy game I've played bar none. The variety of shots is immense.

Let's hope the kids don't moan about the injuries to EA so we get shafted in 11 again...
