I'll have one more try then...

Played one quick game and already I can't stand the 'crowd cut scenes'.
Not only because they really interrupt the action too much but also because I'm a miserable bugger and the morons dancing around like it's some Caribbean rave really do my head in.
Seeing how I don't often download Demos, is there some obligatory waiting period for Silver members before Demos are available. Because I am not allowed to start a download.![]()
Pictures speak louder than words, so I'll throw these up. Perhaps not the right thread, but while we're on the subject...
Here are two separate examples from this week of the moment a player is about to release an attempted through ball from about 30/35 yards out. Look how Arsenal's defenders set up (even if the line isn't perfectly horizontal, it's their intent we're looking at).

2.
To contrast with FIFA Italy's trademark 'startled starfish' defensive approach to the exact same scenario:

Get this sent over to Gary Paterson

i scored a shot from about 25 yards out with De Rossi, it bounced right in front of the keeper and flew under his hand (fully extended dive) and into the corner, never saw anything like it in 10.
My point is that you don't hit shots that can bounce OVER the keeper's hand.
Not played it yet today but I'm 99.99% sure you can't hit a 25 yard laces shot that dips unless it's on the volley. The trajectory of shots, including your bouncing shots I imagine, is still very flat.
You can hit free kicks from 20 yards with top spin, that go over the wall but are fairly low when they reach goal. Why can't you do the same with shots? The only real trajectory you are offered is the sweet spot, always rising type of shot. It's why shots from 50 yards are as effective as they can be - they travel forwards very flatly and at high speed. You almost don't have to judge the amount of power you go for because, as long as it's on target and it leaves the floor, it will still be flying at a rate of knots when it approaches goal. Scoring from 50 yards should be bloody hard because you have to judge, not just the direction, but exactly how hard you should hit it to dip just in time to beat the keeper. In FIFA and WC2010, the shot trajectories do not ask the latter of you. Long range shots are all Ronaldo vs Porto, flat and powerful. There's no real parabola to speak of.
There's no 10 v 10 in World Cup.
The reasons are many.
1. 10 v 10 is a massive amount of work. Even just to do what was in FIFA 10 and make no improvements is a lot of days work.
2. We thought for a long time about what a 10 v 10 game mode would be in World Cup. With Online Clubs it's easy. You create a club, it's fictional & so there's little attachment. When you choose who you'll play as, the club members will tend to support different teams and so again there's little attachment.
That doesn't work with countries. Members of a "club" would usually be from the same country and tend to play as that country. So looking at our usage figures we deduced that there would be too little variety in matches in World Cup. They'd be way too many England v England v England v USA v France v Germany v England games. You'd get fed up of that.
3. With the time we then had we could innovate with new online modes, namely Online World Cup & World League Ladder. So you can still get your 10 v 10 fix in FIFA 10, and experience brand new online modes in World Cup.
i think thats a fair enough point tbh. I want Clubs to be worked on properly for Fifa11. It needs a lot of work.
Not at all, feel free.Nerf, hope you don't mind but I posted this over on the EA Official Forum
But they don't have to add Clubs. Just like we used to play 5 v 5 with regular teams in FIFA 08 and then when TONS of people played regular one-off OTP matches in 09 and 10, why wouldn't you add that for this one?
EDIT: According to Mr. Humber 10 v 10 is the mode that's played by the least amount of people in FIFA. You learn something new every day I suppose...
