2006 FIFA World Cup (EA Sports)

Those new screens do actually look half decent now when in normal play mode. Close up's like showing Zidane there is all well and good but you wont be playing any single match in that style at all.
 
No wouldnt like to try and play in that style :) I think the Cut Scenes look good and the overall presentation does look alright this time around.

No Wacky Lighting FX like RTFWC.

PC demo is out.

Graphically it sucks even when you fiddle to get it running at max resolution, but I assume that's because they've used low-detail textures to keep the demo size down. Cut-scenes and the whole World Cup 'fanfare' are very well done.

The gameplay is still shite though, there is absolutely no skill involved in the major elements of the game like crossing and shooting, it's so pre-determined and on rails and results in some deeply unsatisfying gameplay.

If you buy this you need your head looked at.
 
I need my head looked at then because I honestly didnt think it played that badly, Crossing is the same as before which is a shame but the shooting for me felt a lot better a lot more responsive and more precise and not shit like it was on RTFWC. I actually quite enjoyed my little session on it at lunch time......

I think the overall mechanics of the game have improved 10 fold, the ball physics appear to be a bit more realistic and as I said I actually enjoyed this and wasnt dissapointed by the gameplay 1 bit.

I think the newness of it has worn off. I still think it plays alot like FIFA 06, which I didn't care for. But I love the menus and atmosphere. I may get it for PS2. Not sure. I still am enjoying WE9 at the moment. I feel like I'm actually playing soccer on that game.
 
Well I actually quite like the feel of WC.... but im sure ill get flamed for that lol

i wonder if PC version is ported from x360 ( like NFS Most Wanted for example ) or from PS2 , 'cause i tried the demo few minutes ago and it didn't look "next gen" :-)
 
I'm trying it out now. I really enjoyed World Cup '98 on my old N64, despite it being shockingly shite by today's standards, but maybe I'll get some enjoyment out of this.
 
tried demo and first impressions were, hey this aint so bad. i might even buy this for 360! (because need football game on world cup fever) any time expanders shown up for demo yet? what site has it first when it comes ?. good first impression :)

wow!! rooney looks good on that screen, :shock: , and even ballack is not looking too bad for a non-fashion concious player :P !!.... plus the pitch is absolutely amazing, truly next-gen, especially the grass colour :mryellow:
 
Better than I thought it would be, shite compared to Winning Eleven. Kinda pissed off at the way they'd tried to rip of Konami's game. Kinda means they've brought over the faults WE has in the process.
 
I tried the demo, still not convinced. Its a big, steaming turd of a game, avoid! :mrgreen:

i think its good game, if they get the difficulty levels good in the full game then its great game. i used to hate fifa. now its playable and even fun, mainly because its easier than PES(and has PES controls now) but after awhile i go back to PES because the depth it has

yeah same as you APX.By the way guys avoid using that Demo Customization tool, I did it with the never ending game enabled, the time got to 45 and as soon as the ball went out of play for a corner the game crashed with WC06DEMO has caused problems and will be closed.... :( Also my controllers didnt work when I selected the quick match option which I thought was gay, I tried to do the change sides thing in game and it kept saying "you must control the user team!!" and I was trying to move the control pad to that side and continue the demo!!! arrrghhhhhh

I played the demo last night and it's no where near as bad as these guys are saying. you see WE?PES is pretty much unbeatable BUT it's still current gen. fifa at least feels nex gen. I played we on the 360 and although the gameplays there the look of it is not
 
I know its no where near as bad as people make it out but you know what these FIFA Critical people are like who love PES and wont give anything else a chance, I like both PES and FIFA they both have their flaws and good points. There are times during matches when PES talks complete bullshit and your players play like retards for example.

FIFA has had a reputation of feeling Automatic and Arcadey. But this WC 2006 plays quite well.

is there any way to play as the new teams with gamepad without getting that controller issue you must control user bla bla bla?
