2006 FIFA World Cup (EA Sports)

Not much advances because? they are all PS2 ports!!

Even the PC versions of those titles look exactly like that!

Actually they were all PC ports, not PS2 ports. This gen though they will all be PS3 ports.

PC Ports? the thing is the PC has for the last few years has been capable of producing far better quality graphics than that surely?

With EA making the game, not really. Have you played FIFA 06 on the PC? With the settings on the highest(this includes 3d grass and the such, but no shinny skinned RTWC crap) and at a nice resolution(something like 1280x1024 or higher), you need at least an ATI x800 for smooth playable framerates. The difference is that someone could play PES5 on the PC at the highest settings, using LODmixer set to the max, and using a resolution of 1280x1024 with a 9500/9600 pro or even a nice gefore 4(but not the MX series).

take a look at this video, you will learn a lot about the attitude and what actually they wanna reach with this game (or let's see their yearly try to improve the fifa-series). seeing this just confirmed me in my opinion that they are not after a good football simulation, but just a "game" that recreates the atmosphere in the stadium and gives you the perfect visual (in their eyes perfect, not in mine.) recreation of the happenings on the pitch.

hearing statements like:

"My art-director comes from movies, we've got him from Hollywood"

- the main problem - all of them, no doubt, are really good and professional for their special part of editing / programming / motion-capturing etc., but they never (and if they continue like this never will) built up what you need to get a great, realistic, life-like football-SIMULATION: The spirit of a team working behind all this and also the love and passion for the beautiful game. I allways have the feeling that for example seabass is a football crazy guy and that's just the reason why we never really get dissapointed in terms of gameplay in the WE Series (not talking about any graphical stuff here or for example game structure like ML)

or:

"we can make it all bigger, better than in reality. and that's what it is all about, making a game, making it better than reality"

EA - most of us DO NOT want it bigger, better, faster, nicer than in reality. we just want a good recreation of the happenings on the field, the little mistakes, the little details, the perfect shot or the dumb own goal. not better, not bigger, not more colorful.

JUST FOOTBALL!

The pack overall is very impressive. I read that Microsoft are not giving shops a rrp on this, so I can see many store giving it away free due to the lack of interest of the machine.

If it was WE11 being bundled with the machine I reckon 360's would fly off the shelves. No one plays fifa over in Japan.

ahh!!.....that explains why konami has got shit awfull and stupid solo goal celebrations in WE/PES. i mean EA's got 55 cameras for motion capture  (even if only three is used at a time), motion capture studio worth 10 million dollars !! and did anyone see that celebration with the four guys?? that was class!!
very good vid BTW :)

I think the video showcased that they all work in a beautiful environment with no true genuis's around. i would hate to work there.

can't understand and agree on your opinion, but yes, impressive equipment but just a plain and pretty bad result. how about they just give konami the 10 million motion capture studio and see what's gonna happen ;)

Ill have a look, I liked that video personally thought it gave me a good insight in to the different teams they have who all put things into the game. Im just hoping this game plays a decent game of football like PES5 does. Failing that we shall just have to wait until Konami's Next Gen PES for Xbox 360 in November :)

Lets hope so as I find it pathetic that EA cant even make it somewhat quality in the gameplay department with the 360 hardware, but Konami can mkae a kick ass game with PS2 hardware.................

Exactly mate, im still sure that team in Vancouver doesnt have a clue on how a football game should feel, I think EA would sack them if they were caught playing PES though :) lol

DJ

From the videos ive seen I think it looks better doesnt look and move as cheaply as RTFWC did, they seem to have put a better shooting system in the game as them shots from distance look reasonable unlike in the past where you just knew it was going to go hide wide and crap, The ball physics appear to be a lot better too. Ive always thought Konami have got the ball physics spot on with PES. Just a shame they cant sort out the stupid fouling system and the fact the CPU gets away with more fouls that are actual fouls! you win the ball and still get a free-kick against you lol

DJ

Dude not online yet I think EA will post on their site as to when it will be available on the market place. Personally I think it will be in about 2 weeks time (closer to the games release date or maybe afterwards which will annoy!!)

Its a case of watch this space mate.

Plain and pretty bad result?!!  look matey i'm not a big fan of EA or fifa games, hell!! i'm not even a fan of the franchise (dont just like it) but to be perfectly honest wiv myself, the motioned captured goal celebrations in FIFA games are one of the best if not THE BEST motion capture goal celebrations you can find in any footy games out there ATM. if anything that and the season mode are the only features of the game that'll make me play em. EA FIFA footies motion capture goal celebrations are brilliantly class and one thing i am very sure of is the ones in PES/WE are no where near em.
if you were talking about the bummy gameplay (which i was not even refering to), then i can understand where you'r coming from but the goal celebrations animations plain and pretty bad?!! ,dont think so mate
;)

Animations are ok but from that video it wasnt done by a professional Footballer.... I find that odd to be honest. But yes I think doing the celebrations real time is excellent and yes it does look good on the game too but they dont do enough of the celebrations!

DJ

Just saw some movies at IGN.

I have to say the tackle animations look Ace, along with the pitches and goals/nets animations on ball impact.

Gameplay looked a little improved. Not much though.

That would be Italy Vs USA and not Brazil! saw this on Game Trailers.com

DJ

A little improved? I think it looks quite a bit different to play compared to that shitty FIFA RTFWC. This doesnt look cheap and tacky and like a half hearted attempt at a football game. This actually looks as if it will play a decent game.

DJ

i have to agree with you dj doc looks worlds apart from rtwc. Could be a suprise this one, looks like pes dare i say it.

U goin in for the xboxcup? I have sent you a friends request if that is ok?

yeah man the more the merrier on my friends list :) I dont know mate im not that good at Football Games :) as you will see when you play against me on the World Cup 06 game when it comes out.

DJ

Ok matey we will have to hook up for a game once this World Cup Masterpiece (Says and looks at EA to make sure he isnt going to get embarrassed) comes out.

Just played the Road to the world cup for 360...

And granted it's more of a graphical showcase in SOME areas but what really impressed me the most are the animations and how good they look now with the better graphic power. not the best but definately steps in the right direction of things to come for ALL football/soccer games this next gen...:applause:

Re: Just played the Road to the world cup for 360...

So, basically your saying that the gameplay is rubbish.

And did you get an early copy of the game? or is already in the Market place to download?

Re: Just played the Road to the world cup for 360...

NO NO this is the earlier vers that came out last year you know Fifa 06 road to the worlsd Cup? The gameplays not bad just that still when you shoot on goal it looks and feels like the ball is pulled in a predetermined direction...
