Regarding the FIFA video and all the tricks, it looks to me like the ball is actually part of the whole trick animation.... ie. the ball is not actually free during the move, it becomes removed from the rest of the match action and is inextricably tied to the animation until it has finished, then returns to being "free" again.

That is, in itself, not necessarily a huge problem in terms of the overall gameplay. Recent PES games have had similarly scripted routines when the ball collisions during tackles are contrived and although they look more natural in PES, they are still essentially not gameplay, just scripts and very biased ones at that.

But it still suggests to me that the FIFA team haven't really nailed a natural looking physics, which doesn't auger well for the rest of the action outwith tricks.

the ng4 vid is good, shows the whole game and the guys playing seem to be decent aswell.

I try to download the game1 video "Download wmv mp4" don't work, reopen the window, work for you ?

Na, I cant get that video to work at all - think the server must be overloaded or something

Game1 video has an advert before the vid loads, but the quality is pretty good, net physics are much improved and the gameplay looks more solid.

Really? A few passes seem to not go straight to the man but into space, but mostly looks to me like it's still scripted passing.

OK here's my take.

I'll start with the bad points.

Seems very similar to PES6
Seemed very hectic at times
The sprinting animation looks poor.
Still not enough forward attacking runs by your players
Long passes still seem to always go to a defenders head and not into space
The black screens between throw ins and free kicks are still there.

The good points.

Still looks like it plays a good multiplayer game of football.
Graphics and animations are improved, not enough but improved
Those goal nets are absolutely beautiful.
Love the revamped front end about time and well done Konami
Seems very smooth and more acceptable as a next gen effort.

In the free kick the ball didn't go directly for our player!!!!!! We can put the ball where we want !!!!!!!!!

Just grabbed the video for myself, didn't have any problems downloading it from TG's link.

It looks like exactly the same game as PES6 to me. :| I've only watched it once, I'll watch it again to see if I'm missing anything obvious...

EDIT: The ball moves over the turf a bit better, but that's all I see as being different. The running animation looks like it's going a bit too fast for the game at times, as if they're running on ice and not quite moving properly...

Shit, I'm really disappointed. I can't see how it's any different to PES6. Even the celebrations are the fucking same.

It's an early version, it's an early version, it's an early version...
