Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Yes, that's why I hope -as I said- they are so difficult to pull off.

Also I believe most of them are signature moves, only star players could pull off (like the Rabona in PES)

By the looks of things ,doing those tricks don't look too hard ,just rotating the right stick and from what we saw Ribery performs stuff that Ronaldinho do so :(:( .
Sorry for the off-topic

Could somebody tell me why the fuck Bundesliga is not in the game anymore?

That really pisses me off. Take French Ligue and put Bundesliga back again!

Licencing troubles I think.

Wish they would just leave them in as unlicenced though, so peeps could edit their names etc.

The Fifa08 "skill moves" movie everyone is talking about:
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23802.html?type=flv

The 2nd half of the video (esp. Ronaldinho's part) looks amazing. Even though the ball physics are terrible imo (esp. in 0:57 when the player chests down the ball and starts maneuvering it)

With PES's physics and new "close control", these skills would just be fantastic...

other things I noticed:
-The crowds look amazing, are in full 3D, look realistic, and some stand up in amazement when a skill move is pulled off (as in 0:57 in this movie)
-The grass looks great and you feel players are running on grass (top notch sound effects)
-0:44 has to be one of the most brilliant, smoothest trick moves I've ever seen performed in a soccer game.
-Net animations obviously suck. I can't believe EA can't get it right just yet.

One thing is for sure. These moves had better be so damn difficult to pull off otherwise they've wrecked their own game.

The vid is beautiful. I hope this is ingame too 'coz to me things are looking pretty realistic :D

Yeah I think they look great, as does the shooting in the Jozy Altidore montage :)

I have just called myself a c¤&t for being such a closed minded wanker! I had a gander at the FIFA video and even though I was impressed and would of probably had a wank if that was PES2008 footage, my immediate response was "thats bollocks, its FIFA for f¤%¤s sake, it can't be good!"

I have an amazing hatred for all that is FIFA that is rooted deep in my soul and I can't seem to budge it. Should I see someone about it?

yes, i think badgerman is now seeeing patients on his couch at a very reasonable £100 ph. ;)

He has a very nice technique in drawing pics and you have to describe what you see!

Badgerman - nice to know you like global weather events, but I think we al miss your piccies! ;)

If it was PES2008 i'd say they've made last gen animation, 15secs in there is a noticiable clunk when the chap in red (right panel) goes from stooping to normal dribble. yuk.

Note how far it deviates from the EA "in game shots" released a few weeks back with the silly green glow under the ball. Again highlighting the Image manipulation at work at EA.

Nice grass and colours, looks quite balanced.

If any of you can't see how brilliant that video is, you're even more screwed up than I thought. It will be at least 10 years before we see PES pull off that sort of shit - and yet you lot will still be playing it.

In 1972, a cracked commando shrink was sent to prison by a military court for a crime he didn't commit. He promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Pro Evo underground. Today, still wanted by the government, he survives as a quack of fortune.

If you have a problem, if no-one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire Badgerman.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

God knows they deserve it. They made one good game, I think it was Fifa 96, but pretty much stole my money and some of my Christmas joy the years after that. If I had only knew back then about ISS, how wonderful would those cold winter days have been?

So I guess we have every right to be irrationally critical about fifa. The franchise broke allot of children's hope, dreams and joy.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Fifa alway has this commercial videos every year, every year the same crap, I play every Fifa every year , I just try it, its horrible when it comes to gameplay, horrible, we ll see this year.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

This is not dribbling ,this is over-dribbling you'll rarely see players using these kinda of crazy stuff.More like on FIFA street

Its a tricks and skills video. Designed to show off the skills. The game will have normal dribbling, with maybe 5% of that shown in the video.

Count me as being screwed up hahah.. From watching both the pes2008 trailer and this new fifa08 trailer, I still prefer the so called cartoon graphics of pes2008. The models look and move more human-like in pes2008. And whats more, we/pes has much better ball physics (including how it relates to player movement). In this new fifa2008 video, in certain situations, the ball just doesnt move correctly in response to the player, like its on a sting or something..

Some nice moves - but as always, i think fifa showcases this kinda thing just for hype. I like the grass and the crowd looks awesome.

hmmmm.. bring on the pes2008 vids ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

u must be joking right?

I dont believe I am. Granted the game had it's problems, but with passing assistance set to zero and and a 'im in the mood for beautiful football' mindset adopted, it was truly brilliant and a breath of fresh air.

each to our own i guess. Anyway, by the looks of your username, i'd say ud be going head over heels for fifa, given that the A-League is included and fully licensed.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

fifa 96 was very good, great sense of freedom. But the top one was Fifa98 RWC. But its gonna be ten years soon.

I guess it was the lack of competition who harmed Fifa. I hope Fifa can catch up PES so we get the maximum benefit from it.

Its a cinematic teaser video designed to show off a new feature. Show me one game developer that doesnt jazz these sorts of videos up? (other than Konami of course...kick it..)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Fifa has been bollocks since FIFA96. The gameplay is attrocious and the player models are awful.

The gameplay in PES is amazing, the best around. Just passing the ball in PES has always been a pleasure as the ball physics etc are second to none.

FIFA08 will be a let down again. Trust me.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

It looks like the number of people trying to log onto WENB have crashed the site.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

LOL but you're not a PES fanboy right? ;)

I've yet to see anything from PES that makes me think "yes this is the next gen football game I want for my 360", almost everything about Fifa is more attractive to me, top of the list being in depth career mode with 30 leagues, primary attraction being licensed Sheffield Wednesday to manager, what can PES offer me? Limited 2004 ML with a few unlicensed teams? No thank you.
