Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Ajaxforever, I am not so sure. The beta IGN used for their preview was 40% finished, so how old were those pictures?!

Talking about the IGN-preview: Did nobody of you wonder why IGN came out with the preview only two days before Leipzig? If they waited just two more days they got even better info to write a preview... Is this bad timing from them, or did they have a source from which they know what Konami will tell at Leipzig? That last case would be worrying as that means all IGN told was what Konami plans to tell. That would be VERY little info...
It's just a preview, the graphics will be the same, believe me it's Konami. In Leipzig there's gonna be a presentation and playable demo, don't worry to much man.;)

Pre-release demo and especially betas, often have last gen textures in, or test textures. There maybe real textures used in the distance and quick textures used in the foreground. Generally games get test textures and models in (faster than having to wait for the real thing), sometimes this can be for months, even a year without having their real models/textures

Mate, you have seen the textures in pes3 to pes6 havent you? How can you think all the jagged lines look better then the patched textures.

Here pes pitch and the highbury pitch. I never understand why they just dont change the black/white texture file to have straight lines. Again a small detail that is so easy to change, and should be easily seen for people working on the game.

Highbury has sharp staight lines, PES has jaggy lines. Has anyone ever seen a pitch that has been mowed like that?!? I always just swap the balck/white texture file, makes the pitch look normal and so much better.

However i have to say i didnt mind the "nextgen" pitch that much. Was better then the ps2 "efforts".

I agree about the lines, I dont think they look better.

I just find the patches seem to overdo things, the green being far too green, where the standard texture despite being not very straight and abit noisy is a little nicer on the eye (in terms of colour).

Agreed the next gen pitches look much better, they seem to have sorted the distance model/texture problem for the rest of the pitch in the distance (far cam).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

If the pitch was perfect, you'd only moan about something else that seabass "doesnt give a danm about" just because of a magazine comment about a pre-release demo.

What can I say, you see right through me. I just need something to complain about. You got me. It's not like I've been asking for better pitch/grass textures in every single post. No, I just want to "moan" about something.

If it weren't for patchers and kitserver, PES would be a terrible game to play, mainly because of its horrible pitches. So having dull-coloured annoying pitches wouldn't be a "OMG" surprise at all. Try disabling kitserver and give the game a try.

Also, in IGN's preview, they commented on how disappointed they were with the grass textures, and only "hoped" they would be fixed before the release of the game.

Also, how long would you think it would take to change pitch textures? My guess is not so much time. So given this stage of the game's development, it's not far fetched to believe these are near-final textures.

And since when have PES/WE graphics "drastically improved" between a demo and a final release?

Believe me, it's very expected that the pitch graphics would be anything but impressing. We have past history, screenshots, previews to prove it.

I hope I'm wrong, because I can never emphasize how beautiful grass could totally change the look of the game. So no smartass, I'm not just looking for "anything" to complain about.

Take your emotional FB defense of any PES-complaining somewhere else.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Pretty much confirms that TeamVision is not a whole new AI model, just an extra bit stuck on top of the existing engine. It will be interesting to experience how much it feels like cpu cheats. Given there were still cheats a plenty on level 3 in previous editions of PES, I'm not at all optimistic.

This is one of the funniest quotes I've read. typical of some people on this forum at times. First all we hear is - "teamvison", silly gimmick that we won't even notice, just typical konami adding another feature that won't bear any effect on the gameplay!!! then we hear its has actually been noticed to positive effect in the playtests and the raection is - "just an ectra bit of AI stuck on, will just be the computer cheating etcetc!!!!! some people cant be pleased - its too funny!!:lmao:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Really who gives a shit about PS2 pitches, PS2's wank anyway and PES2008 on PS2 will be no better than PES6, do yourselves a favour and get a 360, PS3 or get a new PC.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Its not the cheating that concerns me most about playing against the computer. Its the fact they cant attack properly. They have 1/2 shots on my goal the whole game usually. They are so boring to play against. Occasionally you'll get a very decent game but thats very rare.

The only reason why ML is fun because you're at their level for about 3 seasons when you have all the default ML (Miranda) players as part of your team.

I'm talking about Exhibition games mostly. I struggle to realise how some people don't play against their mates. Without that aspect this game would mean nothing to me

Agree, thats why id always leave the grass texture (the green one) and only replace the blackwhite texture which determines the shades of green and the lines it makes.

Honestly, do you even read anything at times?! It isnt about the ps2 textures, just the fact that konami screw up something as important and simple as the grass. And that the same critisism is now being levelled at the latest nextgen version. You only have to look at the difference between fifa's grass and pes' grass on the next gen to see how much better it can be.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

All this talk about grass textures takes me back to the days of patching. People were releasing grass patches and everyone was loving them but I thought they looked f¤&¤ing awful. It's often a matter of taste and I have yet to see a third party pitch that has been better than the Konami originals.

I agree that the pitch is an integral part of the game but wait until you see it with your own eyes.

WHAT? I guess you never have used ICEMAN_berkamps patches....

Oh I did and some of the colors were absolutely awful! I tried playing PES6 on my HD screen and the grass was massively pixelated and very, very bad. Not sure if it was ICEMAN_berkamps work but I think it was.

I am in no way dissing the Iceman as he is one of the greatest contributers to the WE/PES scene but I personally don't like re-vamped grass.

Its actually about your mind reading... and how you know he doesnt give a danm about what the grass looks like. Thanks for the inside info tho.

The simplest minds are the easiest to please.

It wasn't a personal attack Winston - more just a quick note to highlight the attitude of some of the blindly anti pes2008 posters that "contribute" to this forum. Ironic when we are all members of a PRO EVO forum, which suggests we are fans of the series!?!....you carry on mate;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

These next days will be very interesting. Thanks KaiWAi and TG ;)
Is it confirmed that PES2008 will start running on the 1st day (i.e. the 23rd) of Leizpig?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

well thats because PES6 was not meant to played on an HD tv at least the pS2 version isnt. When I play WE on a very nice CRT tv, the color and the game looks much much better, and HD widescreen stretches the players and the colors so it doesnt look as good. WHen using the icemans stadiums on a crt tv, the pitches look really good..

You are absolutely right there mate. I think I saw the same patch on my brothers PS2 on a normal tv and it was much better. My bad.
