Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Well well, we get the most improved Master League in years and still people overhere manage to complain. Just watch the improvements! Okay, maybe there are things you do not like, but overall in is a huge improvement.
Just for one time: Be happy what you get!

haha true, we lot are never satisfied are we?

one question i dont think has been asked yet of the beta versions- what choices do we have on the camera type? Same as usual or do we have more choices, oe even dare I say it a custom-able camera?

I like the currecnt wide camera, but would be nice to tweak it in height and zoom etc.

Now surely PS3 and 360 can handle a free camera mode???

That's not good enough for me, sorry. You can't say "well at least they are trying", if they had started "trying" a few years ago when it was clearly needed we might be at a stage now where we have something remotely realistic. As it stands I expect this to be another Konami style fantasy game with an edit mode promising so much but ruined by absurd restrictions. (20 new slots for teams, can't edit pre-existing stadiums).

I'd be very surprised if there were unlimited new players and face imports as well. At this rate it's going to be years before we can even begin to hope for a proper league structure with lower league teams etc. and that is not acceptable in my view, with the hardware that is available today. It is simply ignorance or stubbornness on Konami's part, refusal to invest in some proper researchers and spend some time adding teams which aren't in the elite circles.

I don't buy the Japanese culture thing. If that's the case, then why do they include both J League 1 and J League 2 in WEJL2007? They can easily do the same for PES can they not?
What i mean is, JLWE2007CC already has both proper Japanese leagues (J1 and J2) in the ML, along with asian championship and world club championship. So why can't they do the same for PES?

nobody answered my question yesterday so im asking again: anybody know if final-version or beta-version (like all years before) is @gc ???

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

it wasn't the final version last year, so I guess it won't be this year.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

max 10 teams / division in ML? if thats true I cant buy this game even if the rest will be superb. 95% of my time I am playing ML. And I am already pissed by only thinking about a 10 team league

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

if they had 16 teams in each division that would be great, all they need to add is to be able to transfer as a manager. this next version has been a bigger improvement than pes1 to pes6. diving , shirt tugging vital aspects in todays game and master league changes and graphics and editing players and stadium , i bet now one imagined this much of an improvement , as it was needed as the evolution has been very slow over the years.

hopefully it will be as big a jump for the next pes 2009 and they better have the ability to transfer different parts of the option file as that would make it so much easier for the commnity to transfer data and have one truly magnificent option file with the game being 30% better off.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

i only play master league and each year go through about 25 seasons/years in the master league with only going max 4 years with each team as it is too easy. if they make the money gap realistic btwn the teams then it would be great as it may take two seasons to get promoted which would be about 10 years in one turn, the longevity would be great. and it would take ages to be bale to affor a star player and wages would be like real i.e 5 million which would be like 10 of your default teams wages which make it hard to buy players.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Many things would instantly change about this game if it were directed at a European market.

I don't see why Konami isn't investing more in this direction. It's the biggest sport in Europe, and Konami would make millions if directed its attention towards the European market.

And the Japanese will back that move... no doubt. The game is easily dominating their market.

You gotta understand that Konami is a Japanese company. they are not gonna have europeans take over and dictate the direction of Winning Eleven/PES.

Trust me the Japanese are proud nation big on nationalism..

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

my personal opinions-

master league: just kind of a shame that we get a good addition, that goes bad. I would rather have the ability to switch teams than have the new structure. Also, the new structure makes for less teams in the master league. One of my problems with the old structure, is teams get left out, so their players are floating around the market when you start. Now, if you can only get 40 teams, think of all the free players roaming.

Ronaldinho - we can create him, that is no problem. I was thinking about it, and wasn't their something in one of the previews/pics about a fake romaldino or something, that the testers were having fun with. Wonder if thats related.

Expectations: I am personally gonna try not to follow the forum in the build up to leipzig, because no matter what new features they give, I am going to find a down side. You give a mouse a cookie....

What I do is make 1000pts the equivalent of £1m irl. Then whenever I try and sign a player I make sure to pay a 'realistic' fee for them. So if I tried to sign someone like Diego (who I could get for about 6000pts normally), I'd pay something like 18000pts. This way it's at least semi-realistic and harder to build up an all-star squad.

Erm, money?

One version with the J-League included would make £50 per customer per year, one with and one without makes £100 per customer per year.

Plus, they don't think that we in Europe would want Japanese teams. But taking out the Japanese teams is hardly localising the game, it's just (the way they see it) saving themselves a million letters saying "who are these Japanese teams and why do we care?"

EDIT: Oh wait, sorry, I see what you mean, you're talking about "why do they include the lower league". Reason being, there's millions who will want their favourite Japanese lower-league team in, and the license is dirt-cheap compared to Europe.

The question should be, why do they include Japanese lower-leagues and not European lower-leagues? And the answer is again, money. Not prepared to pay for licenses, not prepared to pay for an extra ten researchers to get all the appearances and stats right (and update them each year).

If the most improved masterleague in years means cutting half the teams and play a volleyball tournaments...I would rather have no improvements.

Dunno all this news about teamvision, restructuring masterleague with half the teams, putting and taking away the 360 movements, it all sounds very fifaish to me. Lots of words to cover the real issue of lacking of substantial changes (usual ones, manual passing, no scripting, on line free of lag etc).

And about the masterleague: I would like some form of salary cap for each division, so you can never build a team made of heroes, but you will have to choose wisely.

Taken from another forum:

zoo summary.

more fluid and easier to grasp.
individual players capable of more skillful fancy dannery, and they look & move like the real thing.
you can put taller players in the box for freekicks & corners (at last!!) instead of your tiny wingers trying to head the ball in.
AI improved a lot.
everything looks a lot more realistic
Lawro & Jon Champion are the commentators.
they said it was a lot more physical, that goalies were better, and that shooting was easier.

not a particularly in depth review, but they say they loved it

If you remember, my contact originally said to me (months ago now) that he hated the game because they were trying to FIFA-ise it, which I think is related to the 360-degree movement they implemented (which was buggy and horrible to use). Now they've taken that out it's back to normal.

Not that I agree with that, I personally would have been working on 360-degree movement since day one, this is what next-gen should be all about. The ML fixes they're implementing could have been done on last-gen, it's about time we get updated controls and more intelligent, flowing gameplay. But apparently the latter is true, I'm constantly being told it's the closest thing to realism my contact has ever played.

But it's hard to be constantly excited with Konami. New improved master league, been waiting for that for years! Oh wait, controls aren't upgraded, and you still can't use 360-degree movement (which I need to dribble and duck/weave between players, I can't grasp doing it with zigzags) so... Oh look, stadium editor! Looks great! But you can't edit the current stadiums, that's a disappointment. Wow, look at those faces! Oh wait, look at the expressions...

It's a rollercoaster ride alright!

Excellent! About time they dropped the other two.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

First ever pes 2008 video but is blured out because they can't show it and evrything is in Dutch. Its from an Dutch Gaming website that revieuwd the game. its on the Xbox 360

http://www.insidegamer.nl/xbox360/proevolutionsoccer2008/videos/3892/?carrousel_id=1794

WOOOAAAAHH!! Nice find Sk1tZo! first gameplay vid ( well sort of)

Strange set up they have there, you can actually see a tiny snip of gameplay quite clearly on the "side" monitor they have there, where he scores some bizarre own goal with his keeper?!

Does anyone translate what they reviewers say about the game?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Why do they let such morons review the game.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

They talk about that it is an early copy. the players look like there are the real thing. but they find that there is no evolution any more, let say no big changes like it use to b. They say PES is going the FIFA way. But they say that they will still buy the game because its PES en its the realist soccer sim and its better then FIFA . maybe Han will do an full translation

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I dont need a translation. I dont care what they say. I want to see it by myself and therefore the video is useess

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Are those 2 new commentators any good in real life????

I mean it was about time they changed the two classic zombies.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Knowing konami the 4 leagues will consist of all the teams the already have so crappy french spanish and italian teams etc in the first league.
The top division will be the likes of Man Unt, Inter, Lyon and Madrid etc.

Remember they made a cpl of managment games and still just used the clubs from the PES game lol

And by the sounds of it you will also be stuck at the same club for the whole game so again once you win everything and have built your stadium its game over.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

From the video:

- Pitch looks bigger
- Almost no diffrence with PES 6 :S
- Shooting is better
- Shooting is easy

I still have to watch the vid, but they are the same from the poor Dutch preview, so I haven't very high hopes of a good judgement from them. They also lack real info, because the do not have the PS3 beta. But I see what they say and post it overhere...
