Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I thought 3d grass was supposed to be on at all times, no matter what the distance. In that free kick pic you can see it ends halfway between the player and the fake men. The grass turns into PS2 grass after the 3D part.

Why is it pointless? He was merely pointing out the difference in detail between this version and previous releases of the game.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

For me the most important thing in that menu screenshot is that the pitch looks bigger/players look smaller. I've always thought FIFA gets that better than PES, in PES6 it always feels like you're at highbury! There's never any real space on the wings, and everything is massively congested. (not helped by the bizarre, send 3 CPU players after you with the ball, feels a bit like pac man sometimes!)

If they can use a bigger, more realistically proportioned pitch, it should open things up some more and allow creativity with long passes, something I'd found a bit suspect in all other versions. (for example, try to kick a goal kick into space - impossible in PES6, it will be kicked automatically to an aera where hte CPU defender can contest the header).

ive seen a new pic of the in game menu, dont think its already been posted.

Nice one tobi, that pic was in the mag scans, but low res. Much better versions!
Strange, see the pic in pic of bench, there is definitely crowd in back ground. But with the other picture, there is clearly no crowd?!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

OMG, there is sideline referee in the top-left corner of this pic. Also, club logos are in hi-res IMHO...Take a look:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I agree that the field looks to be much bigger comparing it to PES6. This is definitely an improvement and could result in a change in playmaking...

I have always loved Guardiola's, Xavi's or Schuster's playmaking abilities, which involves not only through-passes, but also accurate long balls to less-crowded areas of the pitch. Maybe this is finally possible in PES.

By possible I mean not only possible, but practical, useful. ATM, If you kick a long ball to the opposite side, you almost have no time to control before one or two defenders are already pressing your player. This is highly unrealistic.

I also find it very annoying that a single forward can keep on running for "years" to make pressing as you move the ball with your defenders standing still, he won't get tired at all and he always manages to keep-up in speed with a ball in movement... Feels weird and FIFA-esque. Dunno If I made myself clear, hope it is the case.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

@SERbIY: There were sideline referees in PES6 already, at least in the 360 version I mean, so I guess they just kept them into the game. Not such a big change.

I'm playing only on PC version, so I didn't know about referees on 360 version, sorry

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

Anyway back on topic, i think that we've waited so long for something new that "sea-arse" really does'nt give us credit to how serious we take our gaming..don't forget that europeans have played football for over a century,no diss to other continents (s.america excluded)they don't grasp the realism that we crave hense cheerleaders usa, and dino players and stupid balls in we10..Many things have been suggested, but they don't listen because they do not have what we at Evo-Web have for this game..PASSION.:)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I thought it was from the site that published the pics...

You are right. At the same pictures on the Konami-site there aren't these signs.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I think it's too early to tell or predict an outcome even though BETA versions have been slammed. The screenshots are steadily improving since the first ones appeared in June.
Also If there are slow downs and clunky gameplay, Konami might iron that out still a whole 3 months to go. Although they have never done this before.

http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/pes+2008/video/x2gak4_pes-2008-annonce-par-konami

Stefanie Hattenberger from Konami France annonce PES2008 during the PESLeague final in Stade de France, no informations but just says PES2008 out on 8 supports (PS3, PS2, PSP, PC, 360, WII, DS, Mobile)
and PES6 is the first cultural product in France (like in for PES5) with 1.600.000 copies

Stefanie look very nice

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

Back to pitch sizes........ive always missed the the size descriptions in the menu that they had in pes1/2? ISS pro maybe before it. Does anybody know if the pitches have different sizes int he different stadiums in the current versions? I know i used to adjust my tactics/playing style depending on which stadium i played in based on the pitch size (munich was one of the larger pitches so always set myself up for counter attack, whereas on smaller pitches (highbury/anfield) i would set the team up to keep possesion and play at a high tempo.

Could still be the case with the current versions without it being mentioned. Just cant remember it being the case, noticing ti as much as the older versions. Think the pitch looks ok from the image, better then the last version with all the patches on it.

Sorry to raise another gripe - but look at the positioning of the defenders of the in game shot. Doesn't quite look right to me??!

On a positive note, as someone pointed out the net render on that training shot is vastly better than that of the in game shot. It just adds to the confusion...(let's hope that training shot isn't a cut scene!)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/05/07)

It's near impossible to judge a game's gameplay by watching screenshots.I just hope the longs balls are sorted ,more power and more trajectory that's why i think the analog and 360 direction are vital. It'll allow us to make more precise long balls to actually send the ball where we want and not where the cpu want.Longs balls in pes are really really crap and so far from reality.

Very well said.

I totally agree on 360 issue.
I add we need more control on shots direction (angle), i.e. precise control by push down duration of d-pad.

Is there gonna be any other news today ? Or that blonde lady talking french about god knows what is everything ?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I know it's only a screenshot, but look at the gap the guy with the ball has. That's what I hate about PES6. Defenders go wondering about. Left back has his hands down. He's not interested. Left-centre back doesn't even know where the ball is.

They really messed up the positoning and advancing of defenders in PES6. Hope they sort it out. Don't look good from that screenshot.
