Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

If it's supposed to have been in development for 18 months you'd think the TeamVision stuff would have been in it, whether it was an early version or not.
This is so strange... If they worked 18 month at this teamvision and your contact doesn't mention that, then it can only mean this: He has a VERY early release, which makes sense as he did mention some sort of lag towards the penalty-area.
If you put the experience of Adam's contact face to face with Jack's contact you would think that Adam's contact played a later build. (Yes Adams contact DID play the game and it was not only info from Konami-PR).
Adam's contact mentioned a very smooth game and Jack's contact completely the opposite!
I don't know what to think about this. Let's hope Riot gets his beta-copy soon, then we may make conclusions...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

Well actually Han the slowdown was present in the 360 retail version so it doesnt mean that its such a later version. After all the contact said he got the game last week, would be odd to send out an older version then whats available to other people.

But again, as someone else mentioned, it can be down to the adjustment period you get with every version. If jacks contact has only played it for a short time the clunkyness can be attributed to that, with adams contact maybe having played it for a longer period. This would also correspond with the amount of "teamvision" being seen. The more you play and experiment to more you can see the ai adjusting to your gameplay. This is also backed up with the increase in animation mentioned by jacks contact. An increase in this would generally mean that movement (read: smoothness) would be better. Its possible that they are playing the same version but just have had a different amount of time with it.

Adonis and I sometimes chat when he's not busy with the blog, and we spoke about my friend's experience earlier. We agree that it's very strange, but it is likely that the people Adonis knows have played a later version. He may have only had it for a week or so, but he doesn't work for Konami itself and so he's only going to be able to get hold of the versions that Konami want to give to him (I can't go into detail about who he works for, his position etc., but he sees a delay in the versions he gets compared to most sources). It's the 5th July tomorrow, the date we've all been waiting for - hopefully this will see a nice shift around in things. NDAs ending, new versions sent out (under new NDAs :p), etc...

@ tiktiktiktik I can't see why Adams contact sees more animation and smoothness at the same build. Especially because Jacks contact was so 100% the opposite. Even if you play the game short, you should instantly feel if the game is smooth or not. I still think Adams contact played a later build.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

I agree han,

however, adams contact would never say anything bad at all about the game anyway would he?

JB's contact was a more unbaised view

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

Who knows? :)
Maybe Adam,s contact has every reason to be that enthousiastic about the build he has seen ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

Perhaps we should start a collective bank account and put our savings on it in order to hire a real ninja. He will be able to retrieve the necessary material and information for us - now that would be something to think about for next year. I'm not kidding. It can be done.

Yeh exactly.

I spoke to Jack about what his mate said, and the only conclusion I have is that it must be a very early build.

But whats confusing is why the beta versions given out are so flawed.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/03/07)

sorry mate but for one who plays pes & fifa u cannot talk and really u dont have a clue believe me .i've been playing this game as many ppl for 10 years from the very beginning so at least i know what im saying so shut up and go to bed bot.

ROFL :lmao: tut tut temper temper :8):

Silly assumption, but you assume I have not played as much as you. i have been playing the entire WE series since goal storm and even earlier ISS on the SNES in '94.(thats 13 years btw)

During that time I have played virtually every footy game for consoles made. But thats nothing to brag about, just wanted to let you know that you are wrong about me.

If you want a debate, lets firstly take it out of this thread, and also please try and put up a credible debate rather than throw ur toys outta the pram!

Thanks again for the news JB. Jeez that news from ur m8 really sucks big time. The dreaded "stutter bug/slowdown" that I mentioned would resurface because of trying to overdo the graphics is rearing its gule head! arrgh:(

Lets pray that this is an alpha build.....

Slowdown should NEVER be allowed in console games IMO

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

.

But whats confusing is why the beta versions given out are so flawed.
My thought about this is that there is a big difference between the previous games ( WE 10, PES 6 ) in that the time of developing was different. Mostly only 6 months.
This time we have a next-gen version with a developing time of 18 months.
So the whole planning was different from the usual planning.
That's probably why they gave beta-versions from a lot older version. Maybe from a year ago!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

Thanks for the info Jack.

One thought, though: I hope that this "clunkyness" is just an adaptation period... Don't get me wrong here, people, but remember the difference in feel from ISS Pro Evo 2 (PSOne) to PES (PS2)?... I do remember. I remember that they had inserted a lot more animations, and it felt clunkier to play... But a couple of weeks later there was no way I was going to go back to PSOne. Maybe I am wrong, yes, but I personally tend to hold back my expectations until I get to actually play and feel the game.

What this tells us, though, is that a video will not let us know how the game actually feels to play - i.e.it can be beautifully animated, but play like good ol' Match Day in the Spectrum (great game back then...).

Just my two cents.

Paulo Tavares

Best post so far

For those who haven't checked the WENB site within the last hour or so, you might want to now. Especially if you're a Liverpool fan. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

hmm - i see the wenb site Jack - is this a deliberate slip of the tongue wit the premiership license?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 07/04/07)

"Premiership license" isn't mentioned, don't get carried away. ;) "Liverpool license" is, so I'd presume that's all it is (perhaps Liverpool for making the UEFA CL final and Man United for winning the league).
