Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Im really happy with these screens, they are clearly from the same build as the first ones, but i was quite pleased with thoes as well.. shirt pulling looks great hopefully it adds a bit more to the gameplay as uposed to just being a pretty asthetic though.

Loving the training screen, it looks like it might be a bit more robust this time round.. possibly during master league?

I think if these are as early as the first ones are 'claimed' to be by the konami rep, we have alot to look forward to.

so please lets stop bashing the quality of the screens and await the 5th july :)

Agree with you ;-)

The graphics are good enough for me. As long as they look nice and polished with proportionate players, I am fine with it. The only thing that would be a bit dissapointing if if the shorts don't have cloth movement. Also, the default black boots just look very ugly. Good thing editing them will fix that problem. Also, I wonder if the game has windy days, and if so, will you be able to see the shirts/shorts ruffle in the wind? probably not, but I'm sure it will be implented in future versions.

Another thing, notice R. Carvahlo's face..it looks like he is grinding his teeth in an accurate display of emotion as he tries to slow down the brazilian player. Awesome!

And lastly, I can tell from the fre-kick screen that the animations are going to blow us away!

top picture is xbox360 and the training picture is for ps3 u can tell by the grass

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

i don't think so.

they are just different grass textures.

top one has more shadow effects from the night match and bottom one has brighter grass from the blazing daytime sun.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Grass maybe awesome, but look at the crowd -

Same as the ps2 version!!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

it says in the magazine "first shots revealed".
Does this mean that the other ones were from xbox 360?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

It looks great! I like the grass textures. The players look better now then with the first pictures. This makes me even more curious to the first movies :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

I love that we can call defenders to get forward with corners now, thats just amazing.

And I think that the 360 version and ps3 version are the same. ( i hope so because i dont have a ps3 :P)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

i thought the crowd looked alright personally

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

I give up giving negative (but constructive) comments on the graphics, people get really defensive of their beloved game and start a "FIFA players are monkeys" debate, or say that "why does X matter, you can't even see it" despite the fact that other games have it and it's perfectly achieveable with next-gen machines (to the point where really, it should be expected, no matter what type of game you're buying). It's ridiculous what a criticism of the graphics can bring - including that PSM journalist who accused the people expecting next-gen graphics of being "internet babies". It really does drive some people totally gaga, I just don't get it. :|

So I'll try and administer positive graphical comments only from now on, starting with this...

Another thing, notice R. Carvahlo's face..it looks like he is grinding his teeth in an accurate display of emotion as he tries to slow down the brazilian player. Awesome!

This is what I'm looking forward to seeing the most. I don't give a monkeys about shirt-pulling, I don't even give a monkeys about the shirts flapping in the wind. But that shot where the guy is kneeling on the floor after a tackle, with his mouth wide open as if to say "referee, you're BLIND mate" really excites me. It's rare that the facial expressions in games make an impact, especially in sports games. But the fact that this screenshot told a story without having any words underneath it really impressed me. You very rarely get that with games.

Whether Carvahlo is grinding his teeth because he's trying to catch the Brazilian guy or whether that's coincidence I'm not sure, but I hope it's not, because the facial expressions could be the game's biggest graphical achievement in... Well, ever.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Yeah maybe we should see alves' face maybe he has a face like he's really struggling or maybe hes about to look at the referree with a face like: he was pulling my shirt ref so i couldn't make a goal.

ok, rather than saying what i want to say, i'll just let you criticise the gfx and not reply then.

these are forums right? don't you expect people to express their own views? or do you want us all to agree with what you think?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Woah, don't get me wrong, it wasn't aimed at you. I just find it strange that someone says "well I'd like to see X improved" and straight away it's "oh but FIFA's graphics are AWFUL" - so what? That's a different game. :eh:

It wasn't meant to be insulting, I was just saying that it genuinely puzzles me how defensive people get.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Jack does have a point, to many fanboys jumping on any bad thing said about their beloved game.

If the pics are the ps3 version, then why have they reverted back to the crowds like in the ps2 verison, while the xbox 360 has more 3d style crowds. IMO they both look shit, the ps2 style crowds look like they have been designed on teletext and the 360's corwd all look in the same direction and not at the game.

i don't have any problem with what you have to say or criticise about the gfx.

i am just saying i think the pes gfx are good and if i were to criticise, i would have so much to say about the fifa style gfx.

let's stop here. i'm cool. no grudges :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

The PS3, 360 and PC versions will all look virtually identical IMO. I think anyone expecting the PS3 version to look ten times better than anything else are living in a dream world!

lol, if that was aimed at me you are so wrong.

i am not a fanboy.

i bought the new uefa champions league game for the 360 and i tried so hard to play it, but i couldn't. i just preferred pes.

tbh if you hate it that much, then why even bother posting here in the forums? seems like you are dissing the game so much.
ok so let's start picking out the bad things in the gfx.
ummm.... i can't see the fillings in the players teeth. i can't see the fibres in the bootlaces. the players faces don't age after 10 season.

well compare:

http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/a...o-evolution-soccer-2008-20070618032418906.jpg

and:

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/9698/pes2008vn7.jpg

The first one is suspected xbox360 with 3d crowds and the 2nd supposedly the ps3 version with teletext crowds.

Already differences there

@Kenny: It wasnt aimed at you pal, but the thing is that if i think they look shit, then ill say they look shit, after the whole 'these are forums arent they' speech above im surprised that you would make that comment.

End of the day i have always bought the pes games and loved them, however im starting to get a little bored of the subtle changes made in each release. WHen next gen came along you expectedly think that leaps forward can be made. Jut for Konami to release the train-wreck that was xbox360's pes6

Then you come on here and listen to how people claim seabass is a genius. :S

Also, im not a fan of Fifa either, too unresponsive for me

This is a question for people who already have played next gen console ,how are the gfx on an SDTV (standard TV)?Are they better than the ps2 ?Do you think those pics are from an HDTV or an SDTV?Sorry if this is off topic :mrgreen:

the 360 version was not the real next gen version.

pes2008 has been in development for 18 months and they have worked on a new engine.

lets wait until we play the game before we start putting it down.
gameplay 1st, gfx 2nd.

The pictures have been released via Konami, not taken off a television. Konami provide the press with the pictures, which are captured directly from the game and are big enough to be printed.

As for playing a next-gen console on an SDTV, it looks a lot better than PS2. Not as good as on HDTV obviously, but still better than last-generation.

Ok thank you for your answer i was asking it because i never got the chance to see how a next gen console runs apart from videos on the internet and also i cannot really afford an HDTV
I just hope shirt pulling won't be a pain in the ass and as someone said before CHECK CARVALHO 'S FACE EXPRESSION .It looks like he's struggling :mrgreen:
Peace to y'all

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

I'm sure the screen of today and last week are from the same version (pré beta) and we can see the lastest version on the next PSM3.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

its good to see that the body proportions are spot on. much better than all the previous versions.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

Im still miffed why Deco is standing like a twat. They do some stupid hunch in pes6 and it slows them down, and it looks exactly the same there. I seriously hope you can knock a ball out your feet an run on with it, rather than u knocking it on and then ur player runs 1 second later. It slows the game down so much. I dont give a shit if someone is pulling someones shirt, I wanna be able to string passes together FLUIDLY, and aim shots on goal wherever I want.

Im struggling to see why everyone is making a fuss over the graphics. Theyre nothing special :|

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread (Last Update 06/28/07)

The gfx don't amaze me at all. They're adequate, nothing more. The players still look completely like computer images, not real people. Hardly any better than PS2 standard. As for grass textures, so what? At normal zoom level when playing, you see none of this detail.

But what I'm more interested in is what they'll do with the gameplay. Shirt-pulling? Great? hmmm...given the way PES has developed in recent years, my suspicion is that we'll see plenty of cpu shirt-pulling going completely unpunished but as soon as your guy pulls a shirt (without you even wanting him to), it'll be free-kicks, penalties and cards a plenty.

well i think we have to all wait to see in in motion, then judge it in full. Of course, if it just a HD version of PES6 on ps2 then that will suck, but heres hoping they will pull it together for the final versions.

I agree the graphics are not hyper photo realistic, but then they dont have to be. I think they look better than pes6 360 so already that is a good base. If the animations are sublime, then this level of graphical realism in static screens are sufficient for me.
I think now the real acid test is to see it in motion and if it stutters like hell, or has players standing like monkeys when should be active, then clearly we have a right to hang Seabass out to dry!

shirtl pulling looks fab, as that will really get my goat if I am clear on goal and the defender is so clearly puling me back and the ref does not give a free kick. :(

Hey JFlores, I knew that that shirt pull pic would get your juices going!! Whats with you and stretching nets/cloths??;)

But isnt the lead design on PS3 so how all of a sudden suspected 360 crowd look better. ?

Game just going to be a port and look identical im pretty sure of that a guess yes but you just have to look a PS2 and Xbox and they were both identical so why change on next gen.

I mean going to be a straight port i guess so doubt we are going to see any difference at all. Maybe lighting as it well known 360 has shown better lighting so far in many game compared to PS3 in its defense i guess developers are getting use to console. :)

My guess is the first shots are Pre Beta 2nd are more up to date version but that what i guess either that or they were bad screens.
