..and finally defence
I know everyone wants better attacking gameplay (close control, tricks, etc) but I would like better defence too! I think it is too easy to skip past people in Pro Evo I believe because there isn’t a realistic defence system. For example you can’t run backwards (as far as I know) and sometimes defenders just don’t perform instinctive actions when attacking players are near them.

holding R2 and back ( not down!!) means you can retreat and stay facing the same way ( ie run backwards)

That is true, it is almost essential to use in PES6 to be able to stop players.

But, I also think that defenders sometimes are way to easy to run past. The poor collision detection in PES6 means that even though you are basically running straight into the defenders shoulder, the players might just slide apart like they didn't even touch.

This causes defending to be much harder, since in alot of cases it's not possible to defend by simply being in the attackers way. Also, defenders need to become better at kicking the ball away when it is just by their feet. They are sometimes way to slow and don't respond quickly enough when an attacker dribbles the ball just by their feet, and thus they miss an opportunity to get a foot on the ball and prevent the attacker going past with possession.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

The dribble speed parameter means how fast the player runs in possession of the ball. Normally "max speed" is higher than dribble speed, but Kaka for an example has 97 DS and not even 90 on max speed.

guys in pes2008 during a match ur going to experience weather changes ex.while u play in a nice sunny day the weather might change with rain starting to fall and that is going to bring some changes to the pitch(gameplay). Some people who have this info cannot talk and say this things to u guys for many reasons.(who said u cannot travel in time ?i just took u guys to the 5th of july)

Exactly what we needed. Sudden weather changes. Yes that happens all the time in real life.

How about Hair/Jerseys that "look" wet with rain? How AMAZING would that look?

How about reserve players, policemen, dogs, coaches, camera men, medics...etc "Running", "Walking", "Waving hands" on the sidelines. How great an atmosphere would that create?

Any next-gen machine could easily handle these subtle changes.

well, nice try , but what a load of crap.

even if it is true who cares.........no real value to improving gameplay. will just piss people off i f you start sliding evertwhere as it rains.

they just need to make the gameplay, animations, collison detection, ball and player physics sublime first.

weather efeects are largely irrelevant and just a fifa type gimmick

If that's true (which is debatable), if that is the big news about PES 2008 to be revealed on 5th July, then Seabass, look out, I'm coming to rip your head off.

"The ML is the same, with a few new cutscenes, the gameplay is the same but tweaked again so that this time defenders only have to breathe to knock your player over (we call it TeamVision), and our big new feature? It rains, then it stops!!!!!!"

Six words. You. Don't. Know. What. You're. Doing.

er hang on....... just realised pes6 has this already. it rains then stopp . so what will pes2008 do to improve on that? the rain stops and starts, then hail stones, then snow, then high wind???? whoopee funcking doo. that will really "enhance" the gameplay

Get a life, I am sure this weather will be in pes2008 but only because it is already fucking in pes6, you fool.

This is not the BIG gameplay feature. now go away and come back with some proper news pls:lol:

Yeah, but if you think about it, there really isn't any situation where a player runs faster with the ball than without.

Controlling a ball while running will only slow you down a certain degree. Running without needing to kick a ball in front of you will always be faster.

So Kaka has 90 Top Speed (Very fast). When in possession of the ball, he has 97 DS, which means that he almost runs as fast with the ball as without. If he has 99 DS, then his speed with the ball, and without it, will be the same (He is not slowed down at all by needing to kick the ball ahead of himself). ;)

Is it just me that thought this was supposed to be ironic.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Patching a pes game on pc results in better graphics than what Seabass and his team ever do and they should be ashamed of it.
Konami will receive some really serious competition from FIFA this year so hopefully their next gen game will be amazing.
I'd like PES7 to improve on defences so you'd be kinda proud of yourself each time you'd score a goal.I don't like this emphasis on tricks and stuff, how come practically nobody is talkign about the crappy long balls in PES6,this has to change ,it's as if players don't enough power (specially keepers when they clear it)
I have a question for you guys, how will the gfx look on a "normal" screen T.V because I don't have an XBOX 360 nor a PS3 and I ain't close to have and HDTV?Will they still be better than the ps2 (GOD OF WAR 2 looked terrific on the ps2)?
Peace

sorry to tell you this homie, but EA will never ever be considered a competitor in the football gaming genre. its a joke if you ask me. Konami have and will always be progressive. They are improving gameplay and details(players, balls, game environment, etc) on every installment.

Last time I check FIFA only throws in an occasional new mode or stupid new control.

I'm proud to say that every WE/PES is different, you have to literally re-learn how to shoot, pass, and etc...

Fifa is not only competitor , but sales more copies in UK than PES.

Yeah, to children that don't know any better and to people that judge books (in this case software) by the cover. Fifa hasn't been any good since the very early days and even then as soon as ISS came along Fifa became irrelevant.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

even there basket ball game which i used to like got out done with 2k7.

I dont like Fifa in the first place , and I never did, but to call everybody who has Fifa s copie at home a child or an idiot that knows mothing about football is silly. Konami is doing maybe something wrong. Or is it maybe the fact that Englishmen has not only bad national team but bad taste too:-).

What I'm saying is that the sales figures do not represent the quality of the game, NOT that anyone that owns a FIFA game is a child.

Konami know what they have to do to keep the fans happy and I am convinced they will come good.

And as far as the English national team is concerned, yes, they are crap. But only the English can say that. Otherwise they are the best team in the f%&#ing world.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I think the FIFA fans are idiots assumption is wearing thin. I've always maintained it myself but we are getting to the stage now where the gulf in class between the two games is growing smaller and smaller and the myriad of options and features, licensing, statistics etc. in Fifa in some respects make it a better game. This next game will be a huge one in the battle, make no mistake about it.

Hehe, "read between the lines".

If you where really so friendly to share this 'scoop' with us, then i would also account u to have the class to respond in a different manner then you just did, even if he called u a fool first. So please cut the act already, Shilam.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I have been playing PES6 (PS2) since release day, both on and offline and I have never seen the weather change. If its raining it keeps raining the entire match. The rain is badly done so you can't really see it but it's there.

Changing weather during matches is a welcome addition.

wrong. pes6 ps2 - it often rains at start then stops leaving just wet pitch. u r obviously spending too much time pleasing ur mum yo notice  anyway, who cares if this is in pes6 old gen or pes2008 next gen. It has the same value to the game as other peripheral ideas, such as players on touchline, managers, linesmen, ball boys, hot dog sellers, cameramen........... nice to have but not at all fukcing important to the game.

I stand corrected. Sometimes the rain does stop after the first half. But it does not go from sunny to rain during the match. I for one would welcome this addition TOGETHER with tweaked gameplay, next-gen graphics and an improved ML and Edit Mode and a lag-free online mode.

hey dude. yeah sorry for calling you a fool. GUess its the angst of waiting to see the game for real.
But I still stand by my statement that the weather changing from rain to no rain is already in pes6, and if pes 2008 has the weather go from sunny to rain to snow, then so what, it will not add anything to the game or game experience. Will just please those "weather junkies"
