Atleast with JLWE2007CC we'd get to see a new mode "Fantasista". Should be interesting to check out. Probably have an idea on next gens mode?

Does that mean this game will be released AFTER PES 2008, in december?

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

After seeing the pictures of J League new game, my fears are growing: there won't be Bundesliga in any WE/PES game, at least this year.

Up yours, EA!!!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Not trying to be a party pooper here, but forget about the hong kong game mags. I am sure its information circulation around the web and nothing new. I've bought too many of those to know.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I remember a konami US PR guy giving an interview one year ago talking about the last WE as the final tribute to the PS2 before they moved on. And I remember how two years ago they said they had already exploited the PS2 tech limit.

Ummm, this new version sounds like a nice way to pay the bill for the (hopefully) big money spent on the Next Gen version.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

All I can say is thank God for Teamvision! I’m sick of playing noobs online that score cut-back after cut-back; you know the tactic – run down the wing turn 90 degrees and run parallel with the goal before passing it to a team mate for a simple finish. I swear I have played people that never crossed the ball once and try and walk it into the goal all the time. I hope this hype is as good as it sounds because I’m all for more realism forcing people to work each goal on its merits and not try the same lame thing all the time.

Still not convinced by the graphics, they still look more like manikins than real people but I guess that’s just down to the Uncanny Valley Theory. I buy the PC versions and my friend boasts about the 360 graphics on PES6, personally I think the players look too ‘plastic’. And that relates to my first request of PES2008, a DX10 version! I suspect the PC version will be DirectX 9, in other words not next-gen and although I don’t have a DX10 card at the moment I’d certainly buy one. It would be even better than the PS3 version as that’s only DX9.5.

I’m not worried about licensing at all being a PC user thanks to the various patches but I would like more accurate stats. I use converted FM07 stats for my Pro Evo because the in game ones are so bad. Why can’t Konami gets their stats for all players from Opta or someone? Instead they just make the big club players better than they are and everyone else a pile of dog poo.

Secondly, I know everyone wants better attacking gameplay (close control, tricks, etc) but I would like better defence too! I think it is too easy to skip past people in Pro Evo I believe because there isn’t a realistic defence system. For example you can’t run backwards (as far as I know) and sometimes defenders just don’t perform instinctive actions when attacking players are near them.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

You make some brilliant points, especially about defenders running backwards. I've never even thought of that before but you're right. When you hold the "pressure" button down, they should automatically do that.

well then that would have to be an option which woudl require you to hold a button down or something.... i thought holding r2 to square up an attacker is sufficient...

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

The way that pressing works isn't realistic though, thinking about it. It could use a whole revamp.

The pressure button does two things, chasing and stab-tackling - it should only really do one, shouldn't it? I realise that they've made it harder in recent editions and you're more successful pressing it only when you're in a good position to tackle, but they could force you to use the pad to position yourself and then press a stab-tackle-only button. It can aid lazy players - hold it down and you don't even have to hold down a direction, your player just tracks the guy for you. It shouldn't be that way, you should have to do the movement so that if the guy changes direction, he'll either fool you or you'll be too clever for him - rather than your player knowing instinctively what directions he will be running in. You could use a trigger-button when moving the player to make him run backwards rather than turn around.

To me, that's what next-gen should be about - giving you more control, rather than keeping the same rigid gameplay routines from years ago.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Good location Jack :D

About cut-backs goals, I know a few persons that really play very well PES/WE. They won't let you score a "scripted goal" like cut-backs one you mention. For me it is pretty simple: if you see that a player cannot defend that goal, you will continue with your tactic. It is your duty to stop enemy's tactic, and not viceversa. I understand the point, but whining about "online players doing that" it is for me a bad loser cry. If you don't like to play with crosses or so, no one can obligate you.

Sorry for the off-topic. I agree with the rest of the post of estebanrey, also with the point about pressure with square button. That is for lazy people, it sucks really!

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

U can already do that...
Why do u people scream about the next-gen atributes when u haven´t learned this gens controls...

hi guys,
just went and downloaded the lastest ps3gamerzine from here
http://www.gamerzines.com/downloading-p3zine_4.html

It has an article regarding the Fifa vs PES battle this year unfortunatly doesnt really shed any new info that we don't already know but does interestingly put the game at 70% complete. However accurate that may be is debatable.

Hold [R2], well its not exactly running, more like walking. But it does makes defenders reaction speed a bit higher, especially if you combine it with X. Imho, the advantage should be higher though. And defenders should react to a ball that's going right past them. And defenders should not suddenly stop and run away to make room for your opponent, and defenders should... sigh October is so long away..
