REMINDER!!!

Quote;

"I've seen a fair bit more of PES 2008 than they've shown on the net, and I'm now super excited in an unashamedly zestful fan's way. I might be wrong. But at least I've got an idea what they're up to.

I was also initially pleased, but underwhelmed, by the first batch of shots. From what Konami tell us, a lot of internal resource has been geared to the PS3 version, and it's seems only fair to be optimistic"

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

and i should believe that !!!
ps3 is main sku , we all know it but it will serve for other system port nothing else ps3 and 360 are even in grphics, and all !!

No exclusive lock-out period for PES 2008

Konami looks to lure in casual and lapsed gamers with FIFA-esque rebranding for the popular football franchise

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be released simultaneously on both Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year – leaving Microsoft and Sony battling head-to-head for market share of the system-selling title’s fans.

Last year, Konami gifted Xbox 360 an exclusive ‘lock-out’ deal on PES 6 – and the console benefitted from huge huge sales. The title never appeared on PS3.

With PES 2008, the publisher has again decided against releasing a Wii version – leaving the console’s two more expensive rivals in their very own next-gen duel.

Konami told MCV that it is confident that the rebranding from PES’s usual numeric title to a chronological moniker similar to that of heated rival FIFA will prove an attractive proposition to lapsed gamers.

“Switching from PES 6’s numbered title to a year with PES 2008 will help casual gamers to identify the latest version,” Konami UK marketing manager Jon Murphy told MCV.

“We’re striving to improve quality and hope this will have an impact on sales, and building on a loyal fanbase which should strengthen the release.”

Murphy told MCV that Konami couldn’t comment on the improved online features, but that it would “announce more information shortly”.

The game will be released on PS3, 360, PC, PS2, PSP and DS in the autumn.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

2 weeks to go.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Was just listening to the podcast again.
You guys mention that some guy who has played pes 2008 told you that it looks and plays much better than pes 6 on xbox 360. So these screens released last weekend cannot be taken seriously after those comments. right?

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I can't quite understand why are we discussing on the chances of the game being better on the PS3 than on 360 or PC.

Shouldn't we all benefit from an equally great version for all 3 next-gen platforms (if we include the PC), that had much better everything than PES6?

I don't know about you, but I am fed up of this biased opinions based on loyalty to a brand/company... Do anyone really think that Sony or Microsoft are really customer-centric? That would be nice, but fact is that It is so untrue. They want our money, period.

And being it so true, why to expect a better version only because I have one of those platforms? Does it really make you happy that the competitor's console gets a worse treatment? Or is it that you want your platform to have a better version to justify your investment?

All I would like is to have the freedom to choose based on my personal preference. Let's not go back to fanboyism.

At the end of the day, If one platform is better than the other, time will show it in full detail when the PS3 or the 360 consistently get better graphics and/or capabilities. It is too early to be claiming victory, don't you think?

Just my 0.02, I hope not to offend anyone or provoke a riot or something.

Regards,

Sunwong :)

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

Doesn't anybody find it strange that they would release pes 2008 in europe before we11 in japan? i can't see how or why they would do that. it makes no sense to me. i think there is something up with the release dates. i can see why they would keep the same late release here in the states but not the delay in japan. it would piss too many people off there and that is their main customer base. does anybody agree?

c'mon Konami have some HOME support please, you know you want to!

i cant understand why americans get the game late, especially when there are no notable changes to the game.

Wow, well said. You are so right, there. I would hate it, if a developer would take money from Microsoft or Sony to make a version of a game better on one console. I would loose trust in that company.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

yeah and the other benefit of having WE released before PES is that they can make any subtle changes to areas of gameplay.
I remember last year there were problems with WE10 with goalies coming way out of their goals and not tracking back, leaving an open goal. They also reduced the gameplay speed significantly from WE10 to PES6.
They kind of tested the game out in the Japanese market, and then released a different(finished) version to Europe.
Thats why its good news that the PS2 version is at least being released earlier, so if there are any problems with the gameplay, they can make sure it doesnt happen in the PS3 version. However having said that the 2 games will have 2 differnt engines so who knows really.

Not really, man. In Japan Konami releases the J-league version now. So it wouldn´t make any sense at all to release the next-gen version 2 months later, because then the sales of the J-league version would be no good. So Konami would make money on the J-League version, release PES2008 in october (just a guess) in Europe, sell millions of that, and then in december release WE11 in Japan just before x-mas and people would buy it again. To me it makes perfect sense. But who knows how Konami is looking at it.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

I doubt of that because EVERY SINGLE game coming out this winter on ps3 will ALSO comes out on 360 ( i have a ps3 by the way and no 360 ) 360 is in front in US and in europe and did you see the ps3 hardware sales in japan thats absolutely ridiculous
3 months the ps3 is under 10 000 systems sold 360 is at 6000 and wii at 40000- 50000

Sorry mate but i think you really should buy a good pair of glasses ... those titles are PS3 exclusives, and all for this year:
- Folklore
- Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (by Naughty Dog :))
- Ratchet & Clank
- Lair
- Everybody's Golf 5
- Heavenly Sword !!!
- Little Big Planet (not sure of release date though ...)
- Home (even if it's not really a game)
- The Eye of Judgement
- Warhawk

And others, not to mention games for PSN!

About next PES/Winning, i'll believe only in news from WENB and Thomas. And Konami of course ^^

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

In the end it´s all about the money. Let´s face it.

As far as I can remember there were always little tweaks and changes from WE to PES each year. It was never exactly the same game (apart from the teams and the language).

Does anyone know about sales figures for WE in Japan and PES in Europe? In Japan they don´t really have the FIFA competition, but in Europe the market is heavily divided.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

That winter release date is very dissapointing. Deep inside I hope for some nice early sept release......

Well i will be watching the rugby world cup in sept then. Too bad the new EA rugby is identical the the one release two years ago. How can those EA people keep selling the same stuff.......wake up consumers.....

But it does make sense to give us PES in Winter, there is a pile of hot games coming out in sept.oct, halo3, GTA4, now Bioshock, Assassin Creed etc, i guess it is a good idea to wait a little bit, even if that means leaving the door open to a Fifa 2-3 months advantage.

Better wait and get the best possible. SeaBass stop fishing and get to do some work......

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

to a certain degree, its about the money, cause sony is a big company who has the responsibility of supporting many family's. So yes, money is a drive, a motivation, but i also like to think that in the end its not all about the money. in the end we're all humans who try and do something worthwhile. just be careful.. say "its all about the money" enough and you might start to believe it. you might as well say everyone is an dick head.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

good point. i didn't really think of it that way, but they do want to make money off of the j-league game. is christmas a big holiday in japan or a holiday at all there? maybe that want to help with ps3 sales for christmas. i'm sure there are a lot of japanese people waiting to buy ps3 for we11.

Re: PES 2008 Next Gen - News/Discussions Official Thread

If the 2-million $US from Sony is a rumor, then both versions will 99% be the same... (I just can't imagine a company that is so stupid they would design the same graphics for PC and PS3).

Anyone know the source of this information? Has it ever been confirmed?

Sony don't have any money to spend they are currently losing $500,000,000 a year on the PS3.

They just fired there head guy on charge of the PS3 and when they do price drop the PS3 Microsoft will do the same within 24 hours especially as there system is 2 years old this Christmas.

Sony promises 200 games for the Playstation 3 by March of 2008 but these games include downloads and not every game is available in every continent. So it could be 100 in Japan 60 in America and 40 in Europe etc.

Sony has a book value of $27 billion. It has nearly $9 billion in cash. Sony's not going anywhere. so your trying to tell us they dont have $2 million.... cmon dude, check your facts and stop being so negative... sony is losing $500 million on ps3, SO WHAT , they lost $200 million on ps2 in the first year... they will make it up ten fold like they did with ps2...
