Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

i read it in a gamesection of magazine, not computuremagazine, they refer to www.intel.com ,i hope in the future they solve the problem, with rainbow6vegas i have already to much encounters with cheaters.
i play online pes6 ps2 game on ps3 and cheaters make up at least half of gamers, but for ps3 also the servers are from the gamedevelopers not sony ,so konami should do there part,i see players with over 700 disconnections, they should be in win -loose stats.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

i hate cheaters.

pes6 has alot of cheaters, and rainbow six is going the same direction, cheaters with 1 hit kill cheat. it ruins the game.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

This news of a referee using a whistle has got me excited. Does this mean there is a full animation of him pulling it out of his pocket, adjusting it in his hand, moving it to his mouth, exhaling to start the process and finally inhaling so he can survive. Any info on this will be good. Thanks.

\\:o/:applause::lmao::lol::8)::shock:

Well, I can confirm it's a penny whistle and he plays different tunes depending upon the decision. And if it's a penalty, he gets his violin out {|=.

For the nutmeg thing, I think they should leave it the way it is, you are able to nutmeg a player sometimes and it has to do with timing, if they add a nutmeg move I hope they do it right, I don't wanna see 30 nutmegs per game.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

i think a general "knock past move" where you can kick the ball infront of you without the player stopping is a great move by Konami

Does it also mean that you can knock the ball on one side from your opponent and go the other.I know it's already in the game but it's really hard to perform let alone timing.

I agree that currently there is too little control of ball and player. They are mostly just attached to eachother which can be limiting in certain situations.

It would be good if KONAMI for example changed the "Manual Pass" right stick so that the player doesn't use it for analog passing (which IMO should be left to the X button and the left analog stick), but rather so you can use it to separate the ball from yourself.

For example if you are receiving a pass, you could make the player turn his back to the ball (using supercancel perhaps to start moving him away from the ball), and then use the right analog to make the player heel the ball in a different direction, possibly fooling an opponent.

Something like that (though a bit more refined perhaps) would be nice.

In some crazy button reconfiguration ,I wish that the direction are 100% with the left analog stick (with of course 360 ° direction) .It'd leave the D-pad free .The D-pad should be used as a tactic configuration like the thing you with :l2: +:circle: or :l2:+:triangle: (that sort of stuff) which would free the :l2: button .This way we would have an extra button for tricks or whatever.Imagine having the possibility to choose between hitting the ball with the inside or outside of the foot .
Sorry for the off-topic
ps:I'll make sure to have this suggestion proposed to Konami for next-year if I remember it

You think like a real "player". ;)

I agree that the d-pad should be completely used for tactics. Most games use the d-pad for switching between weapons, nightvision goggles etc.

And having L2 free aswell would open upp ALOT. Keep in mind, not only do we have [L2 + button] possible, we also have [L2 + R2 + button] and [L2 + R1 + Button] ([R1 + R2] is Supercancel already).

So as we can see, freeing up one button, means we have dozens of new button combos for specific things.

For example as you mentioned:

Shots:

With L2: Outside of the boot
Without L2: Inside of boot

With L2 + R2: Controlled Shot with Outside of boot
With R2 only: COntroled Shot with Inside of boot.

Etc etc. There are so many possibilties for giving us complete control for what the player is going to attempt, and how.

The example above is just for shots, but we would have the same possibilties for passes, longpasses, dribbles (for example using the right stick for tricks and using L2 as a modifier for even more possibilties and variations).

If I was making a football game and realized this, I would soil myself with excitement of what I could implement into my game, and how much control I could give to the users. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Sometimes it makes sick to see that Konami has a great game and with only some clever modifications/additions it could take PES's gameplay to sky-high level. I'm save this idea somewhere and hopefully who knows :);)
"With L2 + R2: Controlled Shot with Outside of boot" = Quaresma 's technic

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Have been playin pes 3 for a week and now i cant get back to pes 6,
it isnt repetitive, and the goal even look more fluid.
Thomas, could you ask your contact if pes 2008 is as fun to play as pes 3 was.
Tnx in advance

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

Trance_Allstar and kouroux, I 100% agree with everything you're saying. If tactics were assigned to the D-PAD then the prospects for the shoulder buttons are fantastic. You could even use some combination to force the player to use his left/right foot - I've seen tons of opportunities where my player would have scored, if he'd used the proper foot...

A lot of people would find it hard to adjust to the analog stick (I can instantly think of three mates who would refuse to play the game for a month), but at the end of the day if it gives you more control - which it would do if Konami introduced 360-control - then you should use it. I mean, how long have D-PADs been going now (on modern day consoles, i.e. ones capable of 3D graphics)? Ten years? The guys I know who play PES using a D-PAD don't use it for any other games, come on - it's next-gen, baby. Embrace the revolution (if Konami ever give it to us).

Seriously though, you two should be Europe's envoys to Seabass. Everything you say is all about "real football" and it's about time Konami got real.

There are so many things that could really take this game to another step.Since now there is no more black loading screens why does the clock stop each time the ball goes out or for a foul. The clock should be running which would give more realistic injury time. Moreover time waisters would be booked if they'd take too long to clear the ball /make a thrown/take a free kick.
I'm saying this since diving has been included why not the possibility to waist time.
ps:This might the second suggestion that I'll try to submit to Konami if it has any effect .

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

there was a game on the ps2 called Football Kingdom that had the best goal net animation ever .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dcvciKaoPA

i hope pse2008 can get the same quality

I have never heard of Football Kingdom before but i just checked it out on youtube and i gotta say it looks friggin awesome. Don't get me wrong, i have no idea what the gameplay was like or how it felt to play, but it looks sweet. As you guys have already said, the nets look great but some of the goals i saw scored were out of this world, the power of the shooting was so realistic and the way the ball goes in off the woodwork is jawdropping. Konami could easily bring these things into Pro Evo and make a lot of people happy

By the way. where could i try Football Kingdom out?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

one thing i was thinking earlier was with the goalkeepers, alot of keepers in europe tend to punch the ball instead of always catching it when they save shots, this would add to the realism

Cheers Jack, you are kind. ;)

I just wish KONAMI were more open. I'm not sure if it is a cultural phenomenon, but the guys in Japan are so closed off it is incredible.

With FIFA you have them giving interviews, showing their intentions, giving detailed descriptions of gameplay mechanics they have implemented. Already there you might have fans being able to send mails and give feedback. If KONAMI revealed their plans on an early stage, we the fans could actually respond to them and give them our views. If they got enough mails with "we want analog support dammit" they might consider it, if you know what I mean.

It would be gold worth if they just hired someone to be their representative on these forums.

It doesn't have to be a casual "Hay mate so how is Seabass after that party last night lolz" type thing.
Just someone that formally responds to proper requests, questions and such, preferably someone who is quite close and who speaks english.
He could browse the forums, look for trends in requests and discussions, and convey that to the team that is working with the game.
Just someone that listens to us. I believe I have read that KONAMI even have a policy not to accept feedback from fans or something like that, regarding gameplay and such. As far as PR and fan connection goes it is disaster. And them being Japanese is hardly an excuse for me personally. If they wanted to they could easily reach out to us.

Yep, it's on their official website. They say that it is "company policy not to accept emails or letters that list improvements that could be made to their games". So as soon as they realise it's a wishlist, they delete it/tear it up.

What a great way of doing things. Honest to God, if these guys were anything other than a games company, they would be bust by now (either that or they'd have the authorities investigating why they don't accept letters)...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/18/07)

I have to agree with StuartDunlop. I just saw Football Kingdom and my jaw dropped. Even though its a PS2 game the animations of the players was brilliant. Whatever they done looked great. The passing was precise and the shots were beautiful as were the net physics. Good god looking at that I think FIFA and PES are way behind! Makes me want to buy a PS2 again.

Well, you can't blame them for not wanting to read hundreds of thousands of letters. But if we unified the wishes of every PES fan around in the world in one giant wishlist, with thousands of signatures, with an official website, with various languages including japanese, then I see no reason why Seabass and his team wouldn't take a peek and maybe get a few good ideas from it.

Just like The Winning Eleven Next-Gen blog was born and quickly became what it is today, so could this movement/wishlist/whatever.

Is this just a KCET thing or do KCEO also stand by this? Back when ISS64 first came out, I wrote a letter to them with a rather large list of ways to improve the game. They actually wrote back to me, on headed Konami paper and sent 30 posters of Konami-produced games in a cardboard tube, including the Paul Ince & Fabrizio Ravenelli face-off.
They even thanked me for suggesting an idea that they implemented for the '98 version of ISS (edit player height). I must've been 13 when I wrote that letter and I've not done anything like it before or since.

I'm gonna try to find it to scan...

The reason they can't take e-mails is because they can get sued for implementing someones idea into their game. I'm sure they read forums, but if someone goes asking Konami for royalties after their idea was snatched there can be some big lawsuits.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

On the other hand, since customers are their business, it seems only fair to atleast read the letters and mails.

But, if they perhaps want to bypass the majority of "make a solid snake vs. super mario game" type requests, them atleast having for example the PES team assign a person to represent them at various fan sites like this one, seems not only sort of necessary, but also desireble for them. They have a huge free think tank here, only this think-tank has so many people it is possible to extract information not only about features, but also the popularity of the features, depending on other peoples responses to them.

Would the PS2 version of Football Kingdom play on the PS3?

I hope that PES 2008 will look great and different in video form considering all of the new features.
