Thing is with Ilori though is he's english, therefore this works well for liverpool with the rules. also he's 20 and 6'3, he has plenty of time for a CB to realize his potential.

Even Eric Dier was better than him and cheaper
i think in Iloris case it´s more about what he can be in future, not at all what he is now... he has potential and Rodgers wants him + he is fluent in english..
