The Retro-PES Corner

@Yosefus99 , do you play original or translated ISO ?

I missed your JL thread, will look for it.
Talking about JL, the 2007 is not bad at all too.

I've the JLWE2007CC and JLWE2008CC and recently ordered JLWE9AC.
I play original , I've translated all the Japanese player names a long time ago since 2019 , I posted an update maybe 2 days ago or something, I'll update it today or tomorrow because I'm making deep analysis with myself (I write stuff and make some brain work in order to analyze the list )

Jlwe2007 is not a bad game but it's not also good for me personally and I said why in my thread

jlwe9 is an exceptional experience in itself and you'll enjoy it

Jlwe2008 is 10/10 game

Also thanks for your PSP 2008 j league patch I loved it

This is the thread if anyone wants to follow it because after putting the games ranking I'll make some deep analysis for them after that

Playing some of the PS3 era games and seeing the player individuality on display has ruined PS4 era PES for me. PES 2017 is my favourite PES and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Messi pull this off in hundreds of hours, this was in my second ever PES 2012 game

Well, lets say that PES 2012 has a "cheated" IA, players less dribbler than Messi can dribble like him.

That's fox engine for you... except pes 2014, i don't think AI can actually dribble in pes fox engine.

On PSP, what's your preferred iteration of the game ?
If my preferred version on PS2 is WE 2008, any reason to try others on PSP ? Thinking for instance of the very latest releases, like PES 2014 for instance.
Is the PSP gameplay of 2014 different than on PS2 ?

PES 2020 has been cracked. Apparently, it's the latest version of the game. Maybe he will be cracking last version of PES 2021?

Alright lads time for me to re join this thread lol. Who is the heavyweight pound for pound champion ???

JL2008CC

JL2009CC

JLWE2009 Asia Championship

PES 2008 (PS2)

WE 2008 (PS2)

WE9LE - PC

PES 5

PES 6

You can only have ONE.

go!
JL2008CC - i would pick this one, the AI and the tempo alone makes it a great game, such a shame its not build on PES 5 engine, instead of the PES 6.
But i really like it, the atmosphere is top notch.Zrzut ekranu 2025-10-24 211854.png

Man I rebuilt the ISO with your file and it worked. Thank you! ❤️
Now there's only a thing I can't seem to get to work... And it's the included widescreen patch.

PCSX2 doesn't seem to recognize it:

Yet, it does for other games:

The file is in the correct folder (along with the BFDF7C5A one):

Any chance you, @BillyKong or someone who understands what's going on could help me?
Thanks!

When you rebuilt the file with his new SLPM it has changed the CRC code of the ISO. You need to open the System Log when the game is booting and note down the CRC from there and rename your patch with the correct CRC code for it to correctly identify and apply the widescreen patch.

Thanks @BillyKong!
It looks like the CRC is the one that matches the name of the file (strangely enough, CRC hasn't changed from what it was before swapping the SLPM_550.33 file):

Yet the widescreen patch still isn't shown in the list of patches for the game. I'll keep trying to figure out what's happening, and if I can't... Well, I'll be playing it in 4:3 aspect ratio I guess.

Speaking of JLE2008CC, im currently in the 1/3 of the second season, it looks like the mighty Roasso Kumamoto might achieve the promotion this season.

I will make a simillar montage like i did with the first one - https://evoweb.uk/threads/the-retro-pes-corner.78697/post-4199643
but i just wanted to share two individual brillances from two players that stand out this season.

Here are two wonderfull strikes from Sakurada in back to back games, he is the most technical player in the squad as he came to Kumamoto from J.LEAGUE 1 and it clearly shows, i love the spin on the second strike -

And here is the new freekick master in Japan, Nishimori. Since the start of my journey he was one of the players that consistently gets on the scoresheet even though his stats are nothing special, even in the second divison of Japenese football, but somehow that mix of his stats makes him a threat. I was never good at freekicks in PS2 PES games, but i feel like im slowly grasping it thanks to Nishimori, these freekicks might look pretty ordinary, but hitting those two in back to back matches felt satisfying -

if the mighty Roasso Kumamoto will achieve the promotion to J.LEAGUE 1, i will keep Nishimori in the starting 11 as he was crucial to that success.

I only modified the LOD part based on the original files. I don't use widescreen.
Besides the LOD part, BillyKong made other modifications as well.
